You need to learn how to drive in Thailand. 1st their is a hierarchical system. Motorbikes fall below cars and above bicycles and pedestrians. Taxis, Grab, and other delivery drivers are working, let them pass if there are near you. Learn the risky areas to drive and times. Keep steady speed and direction. I have a lay-over in Japan for 4 hours before I get on my connecting flight to Thailand......does this mean I have to go to immigration at the Japan Airport too? Even though I'm not staying in Japan, just there to catch another flight? 3. Is it a good idea to arrive in Thailand with some Thai Baht already on hand? I am currently viewing tons of videos about Thailand. I wanted to ask how much US dollars you pay a month for rent/lease for 1 year, and does your apartment come with Internet, washer/dryer , fridge, microwave and or stove? Did it come furnished ? Are you near a grocery store or mall? Where may I purchase a motorbike if and when I get settled ? Do I have to have a Thailand bank account before I move there and what app will I need to pay with US/Bhat money? So far I like the attitude "Don't cheap out" I am looking at a price range where you are living currently I guess! If you can take the time to answer my questions it would be great! I am planning on retiring at 62 and make residence in Pattaya. Thanks!
The thing that I wished I knew about Thailand before I went was that 99 percent of the nonsense you hear about the place is just that, nonsense. I have been twice this year, not been scammed, assaulted by a ladyboy, have not been asked for money from women despite having met a few, have not been run over. In fact all that happened on both occasions was I met some of the nicest humans I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
See it as an adventure holiday. Don't force things, even if y'all desperate, e.g. seeking love. Easy and relaxed will make you happy here. Don't achieve, don't optimize.

Tips for Thailand. First that I can think of is don't take anything with you that you cannot fit in your carry on bag. The shoes/jeans that you are wearing will last. A couple of changes of shirt as you will sweat (a lot) no matter how fit you are, and... Well, thats about it! Saves time at the airport and once in your hotel you buy a suitcase for the return journey and fill it with clothes from the market which is just as good as the stores over your stay.... Oh, and bring cash. Cash is king. I found that outside tourist hotspots / international stores very few places accept cards.
All good. Mostly applicable re food in places like Pattaya. Westen food a little harder to find up in the provinces, but still available. Re ladyboys. Yes, 100% correct, very much overblown. Also you can tell pretty easily by the voice. Only thing you missed was the importance of staying hydrated. The little pharmacies all over the place sell packets of electrolytes you can mix with water for something like 30 bhat for a packet of 3. If you are prone to heat cramps and dehydration this is a good thing to help. Just mix in a bottle of water and you are good. 2 or 3 packets a day with regular water consumption will make a differnce. Also watch alcohol consumption. In the bar you can order a soda water with lime and looks like you are drinking. Always good to watch hydration.
yes, also 7-eleven sells those energy drinks that have lots of electrolytes in them. I remember when I ate something bad and was in the toilet 4 times in a row. My wife went to 7-Eleven and bought this drink and it was over in no time.

I came to Thailand in 2006-2007 and lived there until 2017. I wish I had known a bit of Thai before I came. If you can converse a bit in Thai, prices magically drop. (Especially when it comes to telling taxi drivers to turn on the meter!) Also, I wish I had found an old veteran expat to learn from early on, rather than later. Talking to an expat who lives in Thailand can really, really help you.
Your channel just popped up in my feed but not sure why lol. I never been to Thailand but I’m going to be visiting solo for the first time. Never been to Thailand ..never really wanted to, tbh ..until I started watching your vids.....With all the drinking that goes on ..Are there lots of punch ups ? With all the ... errmmm .. Coitus going on over there ... Is there lots venereal disease flying around ?
I've stayed in Thailand a total of 1 year over the years, been on far too many nights out and I've only ever witnessed 1 fight. Because rule number 1 is: don't get into any problems with the police 🫣 or the security at clubs/bars, they will handle you appropriately 😅
@@TravelGlitch Thanks for the feedback ...makes a change to Saturday nights here in the UK then ...when the clubs close ...some city centers look like war zones
Let me add: 13. Don't be afraid to try street food. It's safe, especially if you pick busy stalls and stalls frequented by locals. 14. Don't be afraid of consuming drinks with ice. Almost all ice in tourist areas is made in an ice plant that uses filtered or treated water, even the street vendors get ice deliveries during the day. 15. Unless you have a particularly sensitive digestive system, it's safe to brush your teeth with tap water. Just, don't swallow it. If you are sensitive, brush your teeth with bottled water. 16. If you get sick, the Thai chemists or pharmacists are more capable that typical western chemists or pharmacists. In Thailand, they are the first line of defense and can take care of most illnesses. If you do have to go to a hospital, most Thai doctors are trained in the west and are very good. In many cases, tourists are treated as royalty by hospital staff. Enjoy your trip.

1. It depends on which passport you hold. For the US, Australia and most European countries, you present your passport and get a visa-exempt stamp good for 60 days which can be extended in Thailand for an additional 30 days. 2. If you don’t leave the secure zone of the airport in Japan, you don’t need to go through immigration there. 3. I’ve done it both ways. For convenience, exchange 2000 baht at your bank to have for transportation to your hotel. Or, exchange at the Superrich booth on the bottom floor of the BKK airport. It has the best rates at the airport and is comparable with the better exchange booths around the country. 4. The hotel safes are generally safe. Not everyone agrees, but I’ve never lost anything from one. 5. I’ve never dated a girl from a bar but you can always ask to see their ID card. From what I’ve read, your hotel will often require your date to register with her ID card. It’s all very above board. Have a good trip.

If you’re only going for a short holiday you don’t need any visa paperwork. They’ll scan your fingerprints and you show your passport, that’s about it. You defo want to arrive with some baht, starting a holiday trying to find somewhere to get money out is less than ideal. I have been twice this year and and didn’t use an ATM once, just took baht out there with me. If you’re in a half decent hotel, your safe box will be absolutely fine. Despite the silly rumours, Thailand is not a place where everybody is out to get your money from the second you land there. It’s very safe and 99 percent of Thais are incredibly trustworthy. I don’t do the bar girls scene, but there was a recent case in Phuket where a load of young girls were working. It is very difficult to tell the age of Thai women. That being said, and I do not know how old you are, but I’m 47 so any women I ‘met’ while I was there were clearly 30+ as at my age I wouldn’t even consider anybody younger so whilst Thai women look young, you don’t get 30 year olds looking like kids.
@@davidlemaster2034 no worries mate, I hope you have a great trip. Just be prepared to spend every waking minute thinking about Thailand when you finally return home. It really is that good.
Disagree on Bangkok. I think it's the most exciting city in the world and I've been around. But I understand where you are coming from. Kaosarn Road is, for the lack of a better word, tragic!
I just came back from Phuket. One thing I wish I knew before going was, if you pay a bar fine the girl will probably sleep most of the 12 hours she's with you. Good luck waking her.
Taxis at the airport are notorious for ripping people off, very pushy and can gey aggressive if you don't pay their crazy prices. Bolt app is always a safe bet
Haha on a personal level don't take a beautiful filipina with u to Pattaya as spent 2 weeks getting bugged by farangs every 2 mins trying to pick her up 🤬 but funny enough Bangkok was fine lol 🤣 but guess my fault for taking in the first place 😂😂
The not staying in Bangkok was really a good point. I’m spending my last week here after leaving Phuket. Thought I would like it but it’s too big. Lonely feeling even with 10,000 people in every corner
How did you go about the visa? And if you move your residence status, will you loose the £12,000 allowance in the UK? Where do you pay your taxes if any? 🙂
I disagree about not spending time in Bangkok, compared to the other places you mentioned like its the place i found to be the least touristy(except khaosan road of course)
I appreciate all the great advice, but what you didn’t say was what a “good” budget is. If I have to add 20%-30% to max budget, I will obviously never make it to Thailand. I understand that everyone has a different lifestyle and therefore different needs, but there has to be some $ amount I can play with. Maybe an idea for another video. Thanks in advance.
Wish I knew it's better to change cash in Thailand than change at the airport before flying to Thailand. Also only book first few days hotel no need to book for the whole stay, so many options for accommodation.
I feel different about Bangkok. Khao San Road is great for young travelers on budget. I like going just to get day tours to different places. So you can stay in Bangkok a few days. Ayutthaya was one of those trips. The old Capitol of Thailand. The Kings Summer Palace. And there is a lot more going on. Nicely priced hotels along Sukhumith Road. Pattaya and Hua Hin are just seedy places. There are attractions near them. I prefer Chiang Mai. Not as sleazy as other tourist destination.
Getting laundry done is very easy and inexpensive. This is different from some countries I have visited. Guesthouses are a very cost effective compared to hotels. I don't need a pool or hotel gym.
The silver lining to you not readily enjoying Thai food is that you are likely avoiding the unhealthy aspects of many "street foods" there. Although such meals often contain a variety of healthy ingredients, the finished product is typically high in: * "seed oils"; * refined sugar, corn syrup or other such sweeteners; * MSG.
I would argue not spending too much time in bangkok applies to phuket also, if anything more so. Phuket is more expensive and is a massive tourist trap
Hi mate,I'm coming to Phuket in January for 10 days. Would $5000aud be enough to enjoy life to the max every night? (resort is payed for) oh I'm a big drinker aswel lol
Do you go to this particular smoothie shop for the smoothies or for the lady "owning" the shop?.....everything is for sale for the right price in Pattaya....55555
I went to Bangkok in 2022, and besides the girlyboy district ( one small street) I couldn't find any bars to chill at for a fun uncomplicated night out, I guess I should have asked the Concierge at the hotel or something. What do you look for? I saw some u tube video that said this was a happening street but When I went there I didn't see an type of bar scene.
It's only just heading into high season so maybe it'll get busier. There is the likes of soi cowboy, or nana plaza, and some others dotted around. I advise what you said, ask locals (not taxi drivers!)
I've been to Thailand 4 times plus I studied in Bangkok. I do like your videos (watched a couple now), but I really had to laugh out loud on this one. Tip 9: Bangkok isn't the "true Thailand experience" and then mentioning Phuket, Krabi, Phi Phi and Pattaya for the more authentic Thai experience. U must be joking? These are literally the least Thai areas in entire Thailand. Unfortunately I, and I bet many others that have been to Thiland, can't take you seriously as an "Thailand expert". Keep it up tho
Never claim to be a Thailand expert at all, quite the amateur! What I'm saying is those on holiday could get more from their HOLIDAY by spending it in other areas as mentioned. In terms of authentic Thai experience of course, it's the capital, but I should have elaborated on what I was meaning, directly speaking to those on holiday, therefore visiting the other popular areas may be some good advice, was for me and others I've spoke to 👍
Hey Ryan I came across on your videos watch it again and I'm just watching and you do a really good job at doing these videos not that I'm trying to get you back to Thailand LOL but I believe you're a natural anyway just thought I'd share that Happy New Year my friend
A great video. Just found your channel and have subscribed. I have now been to Thailand 8 times and will be coming back in Feb. Maybe I'll catch you while I'm there and buy you a beer or two. I did SO MUCH research before my first trip to Thailand that I didn't have any issues. It was just overwhelming the first time! :) LOve Thailand.
I don’t think you have much to worry about! Maybe there's a mafia presence around Thailand but you never see it, unless your doing some dodgy dealings which you shouldn't be 😅
I'm visiting Thailand for the 1st time this November. I have never used a bum gun before and I hear that many bathrooms will not have toilet paper. This is concerning since I will be trying a bunch of new foods.
Just subscribed, ill be watching more of your videos. I have been to Thailand last October. I personally did alot of research and watched tons of videos.
You may already know this, but i've seen smoothie stalls with Gold's protein tubs hanging up. Whether it's the real deal or not i don't know but maybe worth a try.
Yes true! I just feel the majority of people I spoke to have regretted - similar to myself - spending too much time in bkk in their holiday, not necessarily living there, would be a good city to live in
Very helpful and concise
You're a very good host and your videos are well edited. I'm sure your channel will grow very quickly. Keep it up.
Thanks Daniel, appreciate it 👍

What are your tips fo find a ladyboy in Bangkok? Is it wrong to check out their package first?
what accomidation site should i use if i want to visit for 2 weeks?
It’s funny but the dogs in the video are kinda skinny for Pattaya. I mean, every single soy dog I’ve seen were really obese 😂
I got once tricked by a ladyboy. I couldn't tell. This made me so angry. Why would you lie. This happened when i was young and new in thailand
Quite rare but can happen!
Dont suggest Phuket to anyone bro.. please.. Save them from that touristscam mafia island.
I just use my license from home in Thailand. Never had any issue.
2:14 And shaving foam is crazy expensive!
Hello mate where would you recommend me to rent an apartment or a room for 2 weeks?
Please compare Thailand money as to US money
where did u get ur travel insurance from?
I came to Thailand in 2006-2007 and lived there until 2017. I wish I had known a bit of Thai before I came. If you can converse a bit in Thai, prices magically drop. (Especially when it comes to telling taxi drivers to turn on the meter!) Also, I wish I had found an old veteran expat to learn from early on, rather than later. Talking to an expat who lives in Thailand can really, really help you.
Can you recommend a travel insurance
I do have the odd treat , cheese , some uk things , like Yorkshire tea from lazada haha 😊
Your channel just popped up in my feed but not sure why lol. I never been to Thailand but I’m going to be visiting solo for the first time. I loved your video and you definitely earned a new subscriber. I look forward to watching and catching up on all your videos. I’m kinda nervous going but nothing ventured nothing gained. I’m from America so it will be an adventure for sure.
Good luck mate! Thanks for the sub 🥳
tip #1 download grab and bolt.
Ham and cheese in Thailand, damn shame.
0:30 haha love mr bean
Good video thanks
You can no longer get an International Drivers Permit in the Post Office. I had to go to a PayPoint shop.
Wow really - was it similar price?
I saw another video and the guy said he "accidentally slept with a ladyboy " and all the hair on the top of his head all fell out. Any experience with this? 😂😂😂
It's a lie! 😂
Where is the best place to go
Im an older guy who doesnt drink and doesnt like the bar scene . Can I travel to Pattaya anyway?
Of course, pattaya is beautiful with so much to do outside of the bar scene 👌
Line & Line Man app
Let me add:
You sound knowledgeable.....can I ask you some questions?? I'm a newbie to Thailand (first trip this year) I would really appreciate it.
1. When I fly into the Airport in Bangkok, what all do I need when I go to immigration? If I'm only there for a two week holiday, do I only have to show them my Passport? Or do I have to fill out paperwork for a 30 day vacation Visa or something like that? If so, where do I get that paperwork so I don't have to stand in the long line twice?
I can exchange money for Thai Baht back home before I leave....my bank will do it for free, it just takes a day or two for it to come in. Good idea or not really necessary??
4. Can you trust the safe-box in your hotel room? I'm either staying at the Queen Vic on Soi 6 or the Beach Front Resort on Soi 4.....so how trustworthy are the room safes??
5. If a girl works in a beer bar (and is available to be bar-fined)....does this mean she is of legal age?? If not, how do I make sure the girl is over18?? .
Thanks for any help you can offer.
I'm a newbie to Thailand (first trip this year) and I need to ask a couple of questions. Some of them may sound silly. But hopefully one of you guys in the comments (that have been to Pattaya several times) can help me out. I would really appreciate it.

@@JasonS-n5d ...thank you sir....terrific info...much appreciated
@@davidlemaster2034 no worries mate, I hope you have a great trip. Just be prepared to spend every waking minute thinking about Thailand when you finally return home. It really is that good.
if money is not issue, which city should I stay Pattaya or Phuket??? i am a single male, plan to stay next 5 years, then return to homeland
Phuket. Although terrible rainy season, Pattaya isn't as bad.
@@TravelGlitch Thank you!!
Bro halp me out
quality videos and editing and great tips!
Do a lot of the bar girls speak English?
Yes I'd say 90% of them speak it well
Thank you mate
I don't drink beer , do they sell cider ?
Actually i never checked! Hopefully someone can reply that knows
thanks for the video and info, i am also considering spending alot more time over there. Greetings from europe
Thank you! Hope you enjoy your trip when you come 👍
Loving your channel bro. ❤
Disagree on Bangkok. I think it's the most exciting city in the world and I've been around. But I understand where you are coming from. Kaosarn Road is, for the lack of a better word, tragic!
Tnx man for all info you share🍻
Can you give tip for sim cards and internet and do they work the whole country and how much they cost?
I just came back from Phuket. One thing I wish I knew before going was, if you pay a bar fine the girl will probably sleep most of the 12 hours she's with you. Good luck waking her.
My tip. Don’t pay someone $30 to drive you from the Airport to downtown Bangkok. There are options for a tiny fraction of that price.
I’m happy to pay 1200 baht in a comfortable Toyota by a driver who knows where she’s going ( Nam’s Taxi)!
Taxis at the airport are notorious for ripping people off, very pushy and can gey aggressive if you don't pay their crazy prices. Bolt app is always a safe bet
All you need is Bolt I didn’t know that when I first came but know for the next trip before I got picked up and dropped off with my package.
@nixonbd53 That's the price to Pattaya not Downtown Bangkok. Airport to Bangkok is around $300 baht.
@@nixonbd53 I'll pay for a taxi any day of the week to be in nice aircon with no there people and not having to stop to drop others along the way
Haha on a personal level don't take a beautiful filipina with u to Pattaya as spent 2 weeks getting bugged by farangs every 2 mins trying to pick her up 🤬 but funny enough Bangkok was fine lol 🤣 but guess my fault for taking in the first place 😂😂
I would say it's a crash course to how to be a tourist in Thailand. Good content. Khapunkrap.
Thanks in advance.
jezus...BKK is of course much more TH than Pattaya...
Wish I knew it's better to change cash in Thailand than change at the airport before flying to Thailand. Also only book first few days hotel no need to book for the whole stay, so many options for accommodation.
fuck dude you're living my dream rn, im 27 and my plan is to be doing what you're doing by 30
I feel different about Bangkok.
You are doing a lot of high quality videos, I'm sure your channel will blow up at some point
Are there apartments in/or near central Pattaya for only 2 week renting?
And, how much was the sandwich? :)
Getting laundry done is very easy and inexpensive. This is different from some countries I have visited. Guesthouses are a very cost effective compared to hotels. I don't need a pool or hotel gym.
Very good information. Thank you however you move the cam a bit too much keep it still when talking but its only my opinion. keep up the good work
Hey, how are you? Can you please make a video where you explain what kind of visa you got to be able stay in Thailand?
The silver lining to you not readily enjoying Thai food is that you are likely avoiding the unhealthy aspects of many "street foods" there. Although such meals often contain a variety of healthy ingredients, the finished product is typically high in:
* "seed oils";
* refined sugar, corn syrup or other such sweeteners;
* MSG.
I would argue not spending too much time in bangkok applies to phuket also, if anything more so. Phuket is more expensive and is a massive tourist trap
Nit Noy
Will the locals help if you get lost
Of course! They're so friendly
@TravelGlitch thank you I ask cause I am planning a trio there in the next few months
ah you spoke about travel insurance here. no worries
What you have to budget if your coming to stay for a year for visa costs to be legitimate
Hi mate,I'm coming to Phuket in January for 10 days. Would $5000aud be enough to enjoy life to the max every night? (resort is payed for) oh I'm a big drinker aswel lol
5k aud should be enough for 10 days mate! You'll be able to live it up each night no problem 👌
Appreciate the language and App heads up!
Do you go to this particular smoothie shop for the smoothies or for the lady "owning" the shop?.....everything is for sale for the right price in Pattaya....55555
Hahaha no it's the only place they don't add sugar too, the only reason okay 😉
I went to Bangkok in 2022, and besides the girlyboy district ( one small street) I couldn't find any bars to chill at for a fun uncomplicated night out, I guess I should have asked the Concierge at the hotel or something. What do you look for? I saw some u tube video that said this was a happening street but When I went there I didn't see an type of bar scene.
It's only just heading into high season so maybe it'll get busier. There is the likes of soi cowboy, or nana plaza, and some others dotted around. I advise what you said, ask locals (not taxi drivers!)
I have never been to Thailand but want to go this year
I've been to Thailand 4 times plus I studied in Bangkok.
In terms of authentic Thai experience of course, it's the capital, but I should have elaborated on what I was meaning, directly speaking to those on holiday, therefore visiting the other popular areas may be some good advice, was for me and others I've spoke to 👍
I only go to Thailand for the ladyboy
At least my man's honest 👀😂
God ive got competition.
Hey Ryan I came across on your videos watch it again and I'm just watching and you do a really good job at doing these videos not that I'm trying to get you back to Thailand LOL but I believe you're a natural anyway just thought I'd share that Happy New Year my friend
Haha thanks mate, happy new year to you too 🥳
A great video.
Awesome, hopefully see you around! All the best on your next trip 👍
I'm scared of mafias
I don’t think you have much to worry about! Maybe there's a mafia presence around Thailand but you never see it, unless your doing some dodgy dealings which you shouldn't be 😅
@@TravelGlitch 1,000,000% agree my briesh mate!
I'm visiting Thailand for the 1st time this November. I have never used a bum gun before and I hear that many bathrooms will not have toilet paper. This is concerning since I will be trying a bunch of new foods.
No most bathrooms will have toilet paper, unless it's a real cheap dodgy place 😅
diggit TG!! You're made for this vid sh*t. I'm excited for your journey. It's gonna inspire many!!
Thanks mate!
Just subscribed, ill be watching more of your videos. I have been to Thailand last October. I personally did alot of research and watched tons of videos.
Awesome thank you, welcome to the channel 👍
You may already know this, but i've seen smoothie stalls with Gold's protein tubs hanging up. Whether it's the real deal or not i don't know but maybe worth a try.
Thank you! I'll defo look out for that 👀
Bkk is a great big city so much to do and explore and see.. 80% of my time is Bkk, each to their own
Yes true! I just feel the majority of people I spoke to have regretted - similar to myself - spending too much time in bkk in their holiday, not necessarily living there, would be a good city to live in
