Hi Everyone. One type of telescope I should've mentioned are the cassegrain scopes. These are also great for beginners. They are mirrored telescopes, but are a bit of a hybrid between a refractor and a reflector. Massive focal lengths in a very compact tube.
You can find the Skywatcher Maksutov Cassegrains here...
www.rothervalleyoptics.co.uk/maksutov-series.html
And the Celestron Schmidt Cassegrains here...

hello
I have the hybrid telescope 🔭
@@Nottsboy24 do you need to collimate?
@@its.martin1125 the one i have does not need collimation! it can go for years without collimation but that also depends on how one looks after their telescopes 🔭
How do you think about Mirrosky on kickstart?

That's exactly what I thought as soon as the video popped up; oh look, Paul McCartney is selling telescopes lol!
Killed me
Lol hey Ringo. Sing yellow submarine. This guy is Ringo 's biological son lol omg 😲
Very clear advice for those starting out in astronomy 👍🏼
Agreed 🔭
Your video is very easy to understand. The best I’ve seen about education for a beginner.
Agreed 100% 🔭
Thanks very much. This video answers so many of my most basic questions, and what’s more, begins to make me see what sort of questions I should ask next. Once I feel I have learned at least a fundamental understanding I will buy my first telescope.
Thank you.
This is a great, informative video for someone like me who is just starting out! I was feeling overwhelmed on how to choose a telescope but this answered so much.
You have covered all the points I was searching for the basics, thank you for this...
Finally a person who can speak normally and to the point of what I want to know !
Very informative! I am a beginner in astronomy, this video is super helpful to organize my thoughts, its just all too much to grasp when you have no knowledge. More like it please.
What an absolutely superb beginners guide.
Haven't had a chance to test if it holds zero, but mounts just fine and has nice clear glass. Centered vertically true to a plumb line with the crosshairs which is always a plus! It's a great ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope. There's no parallax adjustment or focus ring, so may be limited to 3-7x, have to see how it is on the range. Also be aware that the rings are "look through" so you can still use irons, but they are really tall if you only intend to use the optics. On a 22LR no biggie since I'm not shooting competitions or worried about a hard cheek press. Will boresight and range test, if all goes well, I'll leave it at that!
This is the best video I’ve come across for beginners!
Great and concise video for beginner like us, keep the good work
Great advice! Very clear comparisons as well
Thanks for the very helpful video. I am saving hard and hope to buy my first scope from you in the next few months. More videos please !!!
I just discovered this channel and I had no idea that RVO even had a channel. Excellent introduction into the beginner telescope market. Now subscribed 👍
Thanks. Informative and concise. Learnt a lot in a short time. Greatly sppreciated.
This is very helpful for a beginner like me. Thank you 👍
I have been into astronomy for many years. My recommendation for a beginner is an 8" dobsonian reflector. Why? Simplicity. Price. They are simple to set up. They don't weigh too much. They are pretty good at viewing DSO's and planets. As a mid-sized scope, they give you a good idea of what your expectations should be be when viewing the sky with a backyard scope. Do you want to spend all of your time setting things up or actually looking at the sky? Also, unlike the goto setups, you can actually learn the sky with these simple scopes. Then, if you enjoy your dob, you can make a more educated decision as to what to get in a 2nd scope.
If money is REALLY tight and you can't afford an 8" dob, go for a 6" dob.
Good advice. I would agree. 8" Dobsonians are fantastic scopes.
Can i get these in Ireland?
@@james6401 Ireland is beautiful but its skies are grey.
@@james6401 sorry no, telescopes were banned in Ireland by the EU. (terrorism etc...)

Thank you for sharing, I love looking up at the Firmament revolve over our heads.
Extremely helpful video, I greatly appreciate!
I really like how the information was explained in the video
Thank you so very much, watched the video all the way through, very informative!
So detailed this is the best informative video so far thank u so much
Wow! Awesome tutorial. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. 🙏
Dude I love this video. Got me all excited to buy my first telescope!!
Thank you so much for the video. This morning I unboxed a Sky Watcher explorer 130 M my first ever telescope (early crimbo present). The EQ2 mount has been a massive learning curve and the sheer size of the main tube is, for a total beginner, a bit intimidating. I will be watching more of these guides as the information is clear and concise and I'm sure I will feel less intimidated when I've set it up a few times. Thanks!
I’m looking at getting one of those explorer telescopes as well. Best of luck
How are you finding it? I’m torn between going for this one or the cheaper one mentioned in this video. I’m also a beginner with no knowledge or experience.
Excellent advice for beginners 👌 i purchased the Celestron Nexstar Evolution 9.25" from you guys 🔭
great video with clear explanations. Thanks!
Great video! With sipmle explanations. Thank you a lot !
Always love the reflectors.
Amazing video!!! Thank you so much ❤️
Amazing video , this was my 4th beginner's guide but the best
Nice to know 🔭
Outstanding video.
Simply outstanding.
Thank you very much from here in the U.S. This helps out a lot!
Okay so thank you so much for doing this vid, i think i'm gonna save a bit and buy the explorer 130m. I've been wanting to buy a telescope for a while now and you really helped with your info telling pros and cons and simply clearing stuff up. Thanks mate!
Thank you for those easy to understand video!
This is fantastic information. Thanks so much mate!
Wonderful information. Thank you so much!
You just sold me the Skywatcher Explorer 130P Reflector . Bought it after watching this 😊 hopefully I’ll have it in a week
Very good advice, thanks for this 👍🏼
Thank you, very clear and useful…
Perfect video for me. Thank you
Halfway through this video then realised you’re the same place I’ve just ordered a telescope from today 😆 great info 👍🏽
Good advices, great music, awesome video
Amazing video 👏👏👏 hope you always keep going
Even though I’m an experienced astronomer, I think your advice and tips were fabulous. Happy stargazing 🔭
Great video, thanks very much, really useful.
Really helpful. You should definitely make more videos.
Bought the one on the right for my daughter. Knew nothing. Came here - feel like I have a personal advisor. Brilliant!!!
Thank you!
Thank you for the great feedback.
Great information. Thank you.
Very Informative video. Thanks from Canada!
I love Canada 🙌 i have Canadian cousins in Ontario....this video is super cool 🔭
Thank you for the video. I have to add that with higher magnifications, steadiness of the base becomes important. Cheaper scopes have bouncy bases. Also, it’s only when you reach the 100x magnification that earth orbiting starts interfering with the stars and planets racing across the screen. A motorized telescope moves with this orbital motion.
This was a great video. I have wanted to buy a telescope for the last 35 years. I finally have the knowledge to start my beginners journey.

Clear and informative info....thx a lot 🎼
Great video! Just thinking about maybe getting into looking at the sky and this was extremely helpful! Do you think I would be all set with the very beginner package for looking at planets?
Thanks this is exactly what I was looking for
The thing with the celestron is that it's pretty impossible to find anything because they just dont work like at all....
Thank you great guide 💯👏🏾
Thanks very helpful
By far the best , especially the most concise video on choosing first telescope ! (strange that it has the least views) Thanks! :)
Excellent Video!
Very clear for a beginner. Excellent video.
thx for uploading this vid 😎def helped me out a lot bruh
peace, stay chillin 😎
That table-foil or giant coaster you‘re presenting the eyepieces on - the surface of the moon - how freaking cool, I want it ^^
Thank you very helpful!
Thank you for this. Me and my niece were using a kids 'Discovery Channel' one to see the moon and she seemed really interested (I was too). So I may get a better one so we can see it better. Again, thank you.
Thx actually learned a lot
it helped me so much ♡
Thank you. Love from India 🇮🇳
Good Stuff, merci.
Perfect advice. Thanks!
Super tips, super video, thank you man =))
Great video for starting out. Easily the best I've watched. Thanks.
This video will definitely get the beginners buying these telescopes 🔭
Very informative
Thank you, this is a really helpful video. Did you make a video that gave more detail about setting up the two different mounts. I was given a telescope a couple of years ago. National Geographic refractor 90/700000 with a complicated mount which I have no idea how to use/calibrate.
We should be putting more videos out soon. We will be talking about setting up mounts.
very helpful and concise information. Thank you! o7
Great video 🇦🇺
Hi, thanks a lot for putting it so clear for beginners like myself. I've just bought a Bresser 60/700 telescope and it looks the same as Skywatcher Mercury 607 Telescope. What would you recommend where to start to get a bit more acquainted on the matter and what to know before trying to see something "readable" in the sky. Thanks again.
Gracias muy buena explicación, bendiciones.
Thank you for your very helpful video. When I read the news about a green comet approaching earth for the first time in 50,000 years, I have decided to buy my first telescope and track the comet. I’m not sure how to find the planets/objects in the sky with or without a telescope. I was wondering if you have any instructions or reading list for beginners on how to find the planets? I can only find the sun and the moon sometimes but not any other planet.
Omg your voice is the voice of John Lennon! Amazing vídeo still watching
I like your desktop. Interesting.
Excellent thank you. I am battling with the AZ mount, once I locate a star or planet I tighten the adjustment screws and it makes the scope move ever so slightly and I am then off the located object. I guess I'm learning but wonder if anyone else has the same issue?
Ringo’s alive!
You have good quality videos, keep them coming!
Thank you :)
How do you focus on an equatorial

Hey thanks for the amazing video it's packed full of advice! My dad had a reflector telescope when I was growing up I always remember looking at the moon. I'm looking to get one myself but dontknow where to start lol. This video has helped me alot but I'm worried about setting up the reflector telescope, do you have any videos on this please 💜
I would suggest to buy a small and compact refractor but invest as much as you can in the mount.
Thank you so much
Thanks a lot
Thanks!
thank you very good.
Edmund Scientific Astroscan 2001 is a good first scope. This video is good!
Thanks a lot👍😄
I wish there was a video that directly compared different types of scopes in their inages of, say, Mars vs Horsehead nebula. It would make all the talking points about "better" this "worse" that way more
clear.
Mr. Rother, I liked your video and the orientation of the different types of Telescopes. Yes, I’m a beginner and I’m 71 yrs old. Sounds a little crazy at my age, but I just need a change in hobbies(lol).
Paul McCartney talking about telescopes, so cool!
Big fan of 6" Schmidt-cassegrain scopes. They're small and light for beginners and show a lot. The problem with 8" Dobs is they're *huge*, and bigger gets used less in astronomy, especially when it's a beginner.
Size matters (in the case of Telecope)
@@noway8233 It does... but we also have to take into account that amateurs use telescopes at the end of very long days, only on clear nights, when it's probably not too cold or too hot, and they're not too tired. In other words, you need a "perfect storm" to make it worth dragging out a telescope. Therefore I'm a big fan of smaller and lighter over light buckets. How often people *think* they'll use a telescope, and how often they *actually do*... is at odds with one another-- in most cases.
Interesting, I think I'll save up for one
This was super helpful! How can I reach out to set up a call to learn more about different models and select the right one for me?
Very good
