This rebrand is a smart move. I think a lot of people are mad because it’s working. She has become a talking point again. Camila would have slowly faded further into obscurity if she continued with the same sound/ look for her new era. The third album went unnoticed (other than 2 songs “bam bam” and “don’t go yet” being moderate global hits), but I could see she was losing marketability in the western market. This new image has made people talk about her again (both positive and negative comments lol). But still a lot of people will be tuning in to what we she releases. If promoted correctly, this 4th album will perform better than her 3rd and give her another memorable point in her career.
I also don’t understand when people call her “fake”, “try hard” or “copycat” just for trying a new sound. A lot of artist do that, it’s unfair that Camila can’t do the same. I personally like when artist switch up aesthetics and looks. It’s all part of the art.
She seems such a genuine girl. I'd be sorry to know that she fell in the "3rd album curse"

I agree. A lot of people are hating this new era for her but I personally LUV IT 🫶🏽 people act like we don’t go through changes especially artists and she’s allowed to experiment and mix up her sound. I’m excited for her album! ❤

A contender for song of the summer? Yummy for Justin Bieber sounded better than “I luv it”. It’s not gonna be a hit. Now, will the album be good- possibly because her first three albums didn’t disappoint. But ya’ll tryna convince us normal people that this song is good, just like with Bieber’s “yummy”; and like that song, ITS NOT GONNA WORK @adamtheflop. I’m not mad at her for taking chances, that’s what real artists do. But with that, sometimes you hit, and sometimes you miss. “I luv it” is a miss on a macro level, but I’m glad you die hard fans really rock wit it 👏🏾

Great video, thank you for explaining everything in such detail with numbers, production details and all, I subscribed! ❤😊 something I admire about Camila is that she has always claimed to want to be well-rounded as a person (not just a singer) and that having fun, spending great time with people she admires, and just finding joy in creating, matters to her just as much as performing well on the charts or being applauded by the industry as a great singer. I wish she had spent more time in her "Familia" phase, since I thought her essence was really shining through that sound and I admired how she incorporated her Mexican and Cuban roots (not to mention her flawless live performances, her Tiny Desk was amazing!) ❤. This new style of hers isn't so much my taste, but I do embrace it as a fun summer hit and admire that she continues to have fun as an artist and get experimental. As someone who loves finding different sides/facets to herself, I can relate and hope she'll continue to be unafraid to get experimental and out of her comfort zone!
The way I can’t stop listening to I LUV IT, cause I’m a huge Charli XCX fan. And it’s no wrong, but I would love that she had Charli as feature in this album, that would be epic. I absolutely love Camila and I hope this album is as good as I LUV IT serves. Also stream Charli XCX’s 360.

Props to her for trying out something new, let alone with a sound that she wouldn't necessarily be associated with. Here's the thing, though. If you're gonna decide to all of a sudden take on a genre that's completely different from what you're used to, then at least bring something new or interesting to it. Camila's take on hyperpop is just awful, no wonder people are not responding well. And the chart numbers agree as well. It's not the most flattering showcase of her talent.
Also, let's be REALLY honest here. The entire argument in the vein of "bad publicity is still publicity" would only work if the industry isn't a business. So the teasers did well. Did those actually translate into sales and streaming numbers? There's a thin line between optimism and delulu territory. Choose which side you're on - wisely.

It’s literally only one song that’s hyper pop. She said the rest of the album sounds nothing like “I luv it”. I feel artist should be allowed to try any sound they want. It’s makes the music industry more exciting.

I really dont mind the song and her new look, but the rebrand itself feels disingenuous, as a person from latin America it’s dissapointing how latin artists in the U.S use our culture as a costume or aesthetic to fuel their career and when it no longer works they drop it and never look back. Camila and many others are guilty of this and music fans from latin America are noticing…
Just because a Latina artist wants to experiment with other genres of music, doesn’t mean they’re using Latin America. Camila has always made both Latin pop and western pop. Her last album was Latin sound and she only toured in Latin America. Camila is not the kind of artist to use Latin culture, that’s her genuine culture.

If you are hurt, look for the truth, believing everything you read online will bring you more hurting. Fake photos are spreaded, but there is proof that debunks them, you just have to look for it and be willing to read. It explains Camila's apology too. I hope that one day people who use defamation and fake things in their fan wars will be held accountable just the way famous people are. So easy to hide behind screens...
When the racism allegations came up I was so sad and disappointed, I was ready to drop Camila for good. But I did serious research on it and found all reliable evidence of what was true and what was not. She did use slurs when she was around 13. She later apologized for those. She did not call N or anyone else the n-word, those were fake, the person who edited the screenshots even admitted to it. But I understand that I had personal reasons to go after that information, since I had an emotional connection to her (and to the other girls) as a fan. Most people don't care, though, so it's just easier for them to believe whatever they're told.
