I don't know who you are, but today I recieved my termination letter after 7 years of working for the company. Meantime, I have been working on my startup company for investing. When I read your comment, it really made total sense! I have been upset about the closed door and ignoring the open door which is my dream company. Being fired does suck. However, it forces you to be honest with yourself. It forces you to acknowledge that you must step up your game. It also forces you to see that you should want to do things on your terms, not someone else’s.
The last part is key. I'm in the process of getting fired and I've decided I'll never again work the with the type of people firing me!

I just got fired today for the first time and it sucks
So true about doing things on my terms. But I think the main downer about being fired is the 'rejection'. I was so happy they fired me because I felt like they set me free. But the only slightly ugly thing I didn't like was the rejection...even though I don't think they were good people.

If a company fires you sometimes they just have personal problems with relationships or money. Don’t take it to personally sometimes they are covering up something.

I got fired 4 weeks ago. I'm now in a much better management role, am making $30k more, have better than average insurance, 1 week more PTO, and fully remote. Honestly never thought this would happen. After I got fired I was so depressed and scared, but then started mass applying to jobs and working on my interview skills. Getting fired can be a catalyst, but you have to seize the day.

I've been fired from every job I've ever had. Now I work for myself from home and no one can fire me. My advice: never give up. Always aim higher from where previously were. Understand that there are ALWAYS better opportunities available in the world despite what the people around you may think! And finally you have to take risks if you want something better and everything won't always work out but keep trying until you get what you want, have no fear.

I got fired and I have never been happier! I had been dreaming of starting my own business and UA-cam for years but was held back by fear... And I am so glad I got pushed into doing this! I got my first client 2 months in and haven't missed my old life one second!

Yep I got fired today for the first time in my life for that same reason. But truthfully it’s toxic. We shouldn’t have to entail abuse for a check without being able to have boundaries. Nothing was good enough for these people so they did me a favor honestly. Just scared of course I support myself

I’m someone who’s still in contact with a lot of my past employers and have even had some ask for me to work for them again in the last year so this has just been shocking. I worked very hard for them and feel like they tossed me away like trash.
Always stand up for yourself. When they push you, they will continue to push you as much as they can get away with. Always make it uncomfortable for them to do that!
Every time I got fired I got a better job and a pay increase just after. The only way my income stagnated was through maintaining long term stable employment.
Employers have a vested interest in keeping overhead down.

Made a huge mistake last year and got fired. It was truly a gift from God because I had to leave state to help my parents. Found a seasonal job to help while helping them. After being gone for 12 months, I am faced with no career and feeling humiliated and really bad for what I had done. This helped me feel positive and very motivated. I'm trying to understand what God has in store for me, I may not know what it is but it's going to be better than before! Needed to hear this, thank you Ken!

I got fired today, this is confirmation. I did not want to give in and be a yes person to insecure racist men that did not want to work on side of a female. My goal is to go harder! I’m currently waiting on clearance for a new position that has better benefits and more pay. Most of all, they appreciate diversity. Wish me luck, and the ability to excel further than I ever have in life!

Your comment is a year old but, here I’m almost going through the same thing you went through.
I had been dealing with a lazy, disrespectful, unprofessional, male coworker telling everyone he had gotten a double pay raise within the first six months after being hired, while I had to reach out to my supervisor to give me my “6 month evaluation” that they were supposed to give every employee after being hired.
I’m the only woman in the team. I was always trying to prove somehow that I’m capable of doing a good job.
I asked to be certified for food safety, I insisted a lot on that.
When I met my supervisor to speak about my pay compensation; he said he would give me some “homework” to do, also to “update my resume”.
When I asked why I needed to go through the “re hiring” process for a pay evaluation that they were supposed to give everyone, he did not even know what to respond.
Long story short; they hired a new CEO (woman) in the company so, I requested a 1 one 1 meeting with her, she accepted. I went through the whole story with her.
She told me she would investigate.
2 weeks later HR and my supervisor e-mailed me to meet with them.
Again I brought up the problem with the lazy co-worker bragging about his double Pay raise while I wasn’t getting one.
I straight forward told them that I felt discriminated because of my gender.
The HR manager plays the lying card and tells me that my co-worker lied, that he only had gotten 1 pay raise.
And then, they painted it pretty to me telling me “you are the best worker in the team and, we’ll adjust your pay.
Two days ago; I learned they actually lied to me. That co-worker was really making more money than me in spite of working much less and being unprofessional. Not only him, everyone, even the newest members in the team were making more than me.
And just today. They found a silly excuse to fire me. I got a call to not report back to work “because an investigation is going on”, they they will call me tomorrow and, let me know.
I know what they are doing and why.
And I’m ready to just move on.
Just got fired from the first job I ever loved. I worked for 9 days as an art teacher for PreK to 4th grade. I felt accomplished and like I was making a difference. I read the email Sunday. They fired me Friday. Didn’t even tell me why…it hurts. But maybe I’m just supposed to focus on making art and selling it. That’s what I’ve been doing since middle school. Prestigious scholarships all throughout college. And they chose to let me go without reason….I’m doing my best to convince myself this is a window not a wall. It’s just hard when you hated everything before…and the one you love the most doesn’t even give you a chance..
Everything happens for a reason...you just have to find your reason for being there. Step outside your comfort zone and you will find the job or career for you....change will come by taking action 😀💖

I got fired back in February. I had a job at LensCrafters that I loved. I loved the atmosphere and being able to do different things and most of all help the patients that I helped. I had a coworker that would constantly call off and was late a lot. Her and I did not really get along and sometimes we did but it was brief. She was really close to my general manager who wasn't the best of managers to put it in a nice way. Back in January that coworker of mine asked me to give her a ride home. I said yes. When she got in my car she asked me very personal questions as soon as she got in and I answered. I was off the clock so I said what I said. I felt we both could have conversations and were comfortable so that's why I answered. Normally I'm very quiet about certain things at work especially of sexual nature.
A month later on February 18, I got a phone call from human resources. They asked me a couple of questions and then got into the nitty-gritty. Turns out this girl filed a sexual harassment claim. I knew that her and I talked about stuff and she asked me questions right away and I answered. Nothing was geared towards her and I never would do that. I was honest and listened to what they had to say and answered questions. There were some things that were just false but regardless I still answered. Afterwards I was put on suspension with pay. I was upset because I never really said what happened from my side I just answered a bunch of questions. On Wednesday, February 23 I was terminated and said I was nonhireable by Luxottica. I am working now as an optician at a warehouse club. Granted yes I am making better pay now but overall I was happier at LensCrafters. I have had at least five people from LensCrafters visit me at my new job. Everybody knows who I am and disagrees with what the girl did. To this day I have nothing against Luxottica or LensCrafters. I love LensCrafters. I just feel like my situation was handled poorly. Honestly I would do anything to go back. I have been thinking about this every single day multiple times since it happened back in February. I loved what I did and was always there and to think that this person is still there and is still calling off baffles me.
This happened to me. My manager said I was talking to her aggressively because I spoke up from my self and said wasn’t ok talking politics with clients.
Got laid off on Friday...made great money but I was miserable and didn't get what I was doing nor did I like it. Spent 14 years working without getting fired and im enjoying the time I have while I'm working on the next step.

Currently unemployed due to the pandemic. Ever since I’ve lost my job I’ve dedicated myself to becoming better, no gimmicks, nothing, just be better. I feel great about myself and actually learned that my past job was keeping me down and holding me back. Now I’ve been interviewing, constantly re updating my resume and finally starting to really grow, even while being unemployed. Life is funny sometimes.

At 50 years old, I’ve only been fired from 2 jobs…one when I was 19 years old and the other just recently…the recent firing was awesome, why? Because I’ve already made my career and really didn’t give two fucks. I was hired 2 days later at higher pay and higher position.

If I were hiring someone who would at times need to fire employees I would expect that person to have experienced being fired. How can you effectively fire someone if you have never been fired?
I was let go on Friday. The evil nurse who had hisrory of making people's lives hell. Attacked my character with false accusations, half has trained me and then had me on probation. Despite me reporting her 5 months prior. What supervisor says to her staff " You don't want me as an enemy. I have eyes behind my back"! I had reported her, had witnesses, e-mails. They did not care. She was fired too. Now, I am planning to go back to school, and do some volunteer work in my community. That place is toxic and they did me a favor. 🙌

I'm not a huge commentator but I feel the need to share. In efforts to keep it short I will include the important details of the events.
I recently was fired from a job I JUST got as a personal assistant. It was my first day with the client and I made a very stupid decision. My client's car battery was dead and I had to call her insurance to send out someone to jump it. They came to her apartment garage, jumped the car and told me I could close the garage door and leave it for 30 minutes or so. I felt this was odd but I thanked the technician and his partner and decided I would stay, with the door open, and just cut up some boxes while the car ran. After 40 minutes I turned the car off and tried to cut it back on and the car would not cut back on. My first thoughts were that she either has a bad battery because she had the car sitting for sometime or she had an alternator issue. None the less I did as instructed and called her insurance back and got them to return to charge the battery. Well unfortunately they had arrived 10 minutes before I needed to leave to take my client to her appointment. I had intended to only let it run for 10 minutes since it was already running for 40 minutes before, chances are she needed further repair, and then turn it off to get here to her appointment on time. Once again, after the same 2 technicians from earlier jumped the car they told me I could close the garage and just let it run for a while. Against my better judgment I did that and went to take her to her appointment. I returned about 30 minutes later while she was at her appointment and attempted to get back in the garage and just my luck... it would not open.
That morning just as I was starting my shift she told me her garage glitched often but that it always eventually worked however today was the day it not only glitched but completely stop working. Needless to say San Diego Gas and Electric was called, the fire department was called and police were called. They were not able to get the garage open using the code either and they had the same idea I did (change the batteries and it should work) but that did not work either.
Although the rest of the day went perfectly, that terrible decision cost me my job.
Fortunately noone was hurt and it was determined that the fire department and the police did not need to show up however I have felt immense guilt about the situation and incredibly awful about not making good on her decision to trust me as her personal assistant.

What three job losses in Information Systems taught me is: I am a bad fit for this career. I'm learning a different field now.

I’m 9 months in a new industry and my boss is threatening to fire me. I’m not allowed to make mistakes. I hate this place and I want to quit. My boss tries to make me feel inept.
I just got fired from a toxic so called "supervisor " who wouldn't know the job even if the man went to school! And he didn't graduate high school! I lifted dry wall for exactly 10 months and got along great with all my fellow employees. But when you go to work day in day out and have to deal with a person who is not only mad at himself and the world but picks on people "like myself" because I can stand up for myself. Idc where you work what $ you make but if you can't stand up for yourself at work and other people won't do anything to help with an issue then you do need to move on. My man. Let them go. That's why I personally found that you should never have any empathy for your job if you have to leave them. They don't give a shit about you.
Couldn't be more timely - have been targeted for 9 months, trashed by the replacement manager for 20 months and he put me on a recovery plan 7 days before paternity leave. Found a job I got an offer for today for $15k more per year + $5k sign on bonus. Don't let your current job tell you what your career will look like. Make your path and don't be afraid to tell someone to go to hell along the way.
Just got let go for not being a good fit. They did me a favor. Best advice keep records of everything. Keep an emergency fund. Looking forward to all the stuff I have put off. I love it win or learn.

I was let go Friday after 7 years, winning awards, holding up the entire HR dept not once but twice (the last time being august 2022 through January 2023). New management came in and decided she wanted no trace of the previous dept. And, lest I forget to mention that I opened an investigation up against the VP for threatening me with insubordination after I copied her boss on an email with absolute due cause. I audio recorded her cursing at me, threatening me, telling me she wouldn’t be considering me for the vacant director position. I did that bc I was ambushed and knew she was already out for me but it certainly solidified my demise. Lots to learn from this. There wasn’t a shot in hell that I could work under the new a-hole another minute longer (she’s been there 3 months now) so it all worked out in the end. I received a severance agreement and can collect UE while I figure out my next steps.

I randomly got fired yesterday after only working for 2.5 weeks… it’s very sad I really loved this job and was excited to work for at least a year. The sad part is the manager who fired me gave me feedback the day before saying all the amazing things I was doing. His only negative feedback was that I work too hard and should take it easy. Definitely didn’t see this coming. Not the day after getting such great feedback. It must have been personal I genuinely don’t know. This sucks

No one if making sales because the product is out of date in an over saturated market. Of course no bodies buying from us. I take solace in the fact that I have a proven sales record from previous companies, but it’s still so frustrating. I’m just glad I’ve got some contingency money saved up.

Exactly! That's why I didn't ask them why they fired me yesterday...their opinions don't count...they are not good people. A coworker got fired about a month ago because the judge didn't like her tone of voice one day and she was FIRED....just like that. So when I saw that, they lost credibility in my book.
Worked at a Call Center for 5 years, I was one of the most knowledgeable if not tenured reps in my office. I was Passed up several time to be a supervisor and continued doing the same grunt work as a new hire. The pay was meh, but I stayed because I was too lazy to search for another job, and grew complacent. Company was undergoing a corporate Buy out, and a lot of the board of directors had jumped ship or were terminated. But you know who wasn’t terminated? Me. You know why I wasn’t? Because I did the job appropriately and exceeded expectations .
So you might be think, “what are you getting at?” what I want to convey is that, you need to find your own self worth. If you know that your work ethic, or intelligence far surpasses entry level jobs, why set yourself low and stay at a job where there’s no signs of opportunity. Even if the pay is ok. Sometimes your own pride exceeds the money.

I really appreciate this video because I recently overheard a discussion a few days ago regarding myself where a person asked if my manager was going to fire me and the reply was "No, Im going to get her to quit". Earlier today when I contacted my manager to ask about next weeks schedule I was told im not on the schedule next week because of a lower budget for shifts.

I saved my last company, I was hired when they were facing a sease and desist by the state. I brought them back, got them running better than they ever had. Made it clean, organized and efficient. Wrote the SOPs for the entire company. Which were the SOPs for my own replacement for $20K less. Phuck them.

I was fired I relive the experience almost everyday! The pain is constant. Mostly because it was a person I trusted that got me FIRED. Heart broken? Beyond! I loved my job, I gave it my all. I got fired back in February. I had a job at LensCrafters that I loved. I loved the atmosphere and being able to do different things and most of all help the patients that I helped. I had a coworker that would constantly call off and was late a lot. Her and I did not really get along and sometimes we did but it was brief. She was really close to my general manager who wasn't the best of managers to put it in a nice way. Back in January that coworker of mine asked me to give her a ride home. I said yes. When she got in my car she asked me very personal questions as soon as she got in and I answered. I was off the clock so I said what I said. I felt we both could have conversations and were comfortable so that's why I answered. Normally I'm very quiet about certain things at work especially of sexual nature.
A month later on February 18, I got a phone call from human resources. They asked me a couple of questions and then got into the nitty-gritty. Turns out this girl filed a sexual harassment claim. I knew that her and I talked about stuff and she asked me questions right away and I answered. Nothing was geared towards her and I never would do that. I was honest and listened to what they had to say and answered questions. There were some things that were just false but regardless I still answered. Afterwards I was put on suspension with pay. I was upset because I never really said what happened from my side I just answered a bunch of questions. On Wednesday, February 23 I was terminated and said I was nonhireable by Luxottica. I am working now as an optician at a warehouse club. Granted yes I am making better pay now but overall I was happier at LensCrafters. I have had at least five people from LensCrafters visit me at my new job. Everybody knows who I am and disagrees with what the girl did. To this day I have nothing against Luxottica or LensCrafters. I love LensCrafters. I just feel like my situation was handled poorly. Honestly I would do anything to go back. I have been thinking about this every single day multiple times since it happened back in February. I loved what I did and was always there and to think that this person is still there and is still calling off baffles me.

Update: I wasn't fired when I made this comment nor after that meeting, but I am currently unemployed as of February due to me not filing an order of protection against someone I cared a lot about who cost me my job. I absolutely loved where I worked and wish I could go back there but I don't believe in begging for a position in any company. They didn't even give me a termination notice or at least an email, but they gave me severance pay and moved right along as if nothing ever happened. I still wish I was there but I know there's greater things ahead in store for me. Thanks for sharing your story!

I started working in Corporate in 2022 and at first i thought i made it to the big boy's table and i was wrong. i am now hating the job more and more each day i dread looking at the clock hoping the day would end and looking for an escape . i'd love to quit but the hassle of placing a notice down for 30 days in advance ( cant get instant notice or leave immediately or they might dock my pay or worse make me pay them) so i am looking to get fired. i am have been performing a little lower than usual about to get my first NOT MEETING EXPECTATIONS review .... I just got fired yesterday from a justice court. The judge did not offer any reason and I didn't ask. But I didn't care because the feeling was so mutual. For some reason earlier this week I started feeling like I was imprisoned there, not enslaved, but imprisoned. So I didn't ask because I didn't care why, I knew it was time for me to get out. But I think they fired me because the courts had us do a survey a couple of weeks ago and even though it was supposed to be a blind survey, I did mention our court's name. I was only telling the truth along with at least 2 other of my coworkers, which by the way got other jobs and got out of there because it's so bad. But I had prayed earlier in the day that God would give me peace about whatever they were going to do that day. I had noticed the blinds to my manager's office were closed, and that's what they did when they fired another girl about a month ago, they closed the blinds earlier in the day. So God sure did give me peace, and when I was walking out with all my stuff I was saying bye and smiling. I even thanked both my manager and deputy manager. I wanted to make sure I walked away with dignity by remaining respectful to the very end. I also wanted to make sure they wouldn't get the impression that they had any control over my emotions...because they didn't. So now...I get to file for unemployment! And now is the best time because of how high it is. So I think what I am going to do is start my own business, praise God for that! They were part of my blessing and didn't even realize it...lol

Got fired for no reason yesterday. But pretty sure it was because I was the highest paid and business was slow. They didn't give me a reason when asked. I hated the job tbh and kept dreaming every day of quitting. But honestly I feel anxious now because the money was good and finding a job in this economy is impossible. Plus filing for unemployment is annoying and pretty sure i filled the damn thing wrong. We will see. The beginning of a new journey.

I got fired for helping my coworker in a situation where a kid was trying to hurt him really bad. His hands was on his dreads and all I did was simply remove it and they told me it’s not proper procedure like what !! You rather see your employee get hurt.
