    I'll list my top 5 druid build around spells under 4L:
    1. Spike growth
    2. Plant growth
    3. Conjure animals
    4. Flaming sphere
    5. Call lightning

    Some of my must-have
    Goodberry
    Healing Spirit
    Pass without a Trace
    Summon Beast (2 bears are scarier than one) or one of the other summons for that matter
    And a lot more I am too lazy to look up. This list is by no means exhaustive
    Great video as always ^-^

      As I was scripting this video I realized just how difficult this series is going to be because holy cow there are a bunch of awesome spells! And I mean, whats scarier than a bear? 2 Bears!!!
      Thank you so much! I really appreciate your support dude!

    What’s scarier than a bear? A bear that can Call Lightning! There are so many great choices and I love all the ones you picked!

    Moon beam is another fun spell that I always use especially if you’re worried you’re fighting shape changers since they have disadvantage on the save and reveals their true from! Plus I play the circle of stars so I like having my bonus action open for my starry form hence why I don’t use flaming sphere✨

    • @ThisCrits
      @ThisCrits  9 місяців тому +1

      Moonbeam was a contender for the list but just didn't make the cut! And yes Circle of Stars is amazing because of that bonus action abilitiy and is actually my favorite subclass!

    • @Arisadventures4937
      @Arisadventures4937 9 місяців тому

      @@ThisCrits that’s makes sense in most situations it’s a lesser form of flame sphere and call lightning! Also my fav druids are star and moon!

    100% Agree on Call Lighting! 10 minutes to call down lightning on the baddies is ridiculous and the potential damage is unbelievable!

    • @ThisCrits
      @ThisCrits  9 місяців тому

      People only see the damage and count it out but that 10 minutes allows for some crazy damage output!

  • @kylesousa2051
    @kylesousa2051 7 місяців тому +1

    Personally I'm more a fan of Moonbeam over Call Lightning. They both deal the same damage at the same level, but I find radiant to be really thematic and very reliable, plus the aoe persists on the field between turns so it's a little area you can damage enemies with even when you're not using your action. Love the Entangle respect, no matter the level it's always one of my favorite spells for control

    • @ThisCrits
      @ThisCrits  7 місяців тому

      Yea I like Moonbeam but I think Call Lightning is just easier to use with its larger effective radius. That being said thematically I heavily prefer moonbeam! And its hard not to love entangle !

    So feel free to use this as a bank for answers and discussions for "how do I as a new(er) DM deal with Entangle/Spike Growth, they are just too strong"... because I am. But mostly I just wanted to talk about my experiences as a new DM along with learning just what kinda monster Druids are in 5e (since we are new to that too).
    As a relatively new DM (but long-time player, since 3.0), I've introduced my brother's fiance to the game, and regret letting her build a druid. I'm sure more experienced DMs know these pains well, and honestly, you named like half of them in this video: "Boy Entangle and Spike Growth suck, how do I even build low-to-mid-level encounters around that?" It's been hard to juggle while also keeping it accurate to what's going on. She's been a force to be reckoned with, and I'm not entirely sure how to deal with her.
    Then again, I specifically told everyone ELSE in the group to play classes they don't normally play (to shake things up), so now the forever-rogue is the group wizard, the usually-a-mage (/forever DM) is now the rogue, the forever-tank is now a bard, and the forever-fighter is playing monk..... and they are praising my ingenuity more than I deserve. I'm just glad they are having fun with their characters, but damn is it chaotic. I've even leaned into the themes of "Chaos" and "Primal Chaos" as a deity. It's been good fun. I just gotta work on balancing things around what feels like a very unbalanced party.
    Shenanigans in the campaign currently include:
    - Rogue dragged around a footlocker for about 3 months because he couldn't pick the lock only to have a locksmith roll a 20 first try, party rogue despises locksmith. (locksmith ends up evolving into a rogue NPC that kinda follows them around because he smells treasure and adventure on them)
    - Locking a group of cultists after us in a tavern with arcane lock.
    - Party insists on going around a blockade built by cultists on the road, forcing DM to spend 3 days building a cavern pass through the mountains near them that they could take instead. Party entered the cave for a collective hour before deciding they had enough and that they'd rather deal with the blockade instead.
    - Birthday Goblins, no I won't elaborate further.
    - discovered the druid can't read or write common, never learned how (became a running joke).
    - Wizard always looks like he's about to cast Fireball (which he definitely knows), but then goes in and casts some left-field spell no one expects him to cast.
    - Wizard is also known to successfully stealth past an encounter with the party, turn around, then throw in a fireball to get a surprise round. He's a crazy old man.
    - Being told where to go and what to do in a zombie-infested town, ignoring all that to follow a crow. (i.e. "What da crow doin'?")
    - Going on a quest to save the tavernkeep after they thought HE was in cahoots with us during the arcane lock debacle. (aforementioned locksmith rogue is literally in the party with them, starting to regret the party's lack of stealth)
