your videos are a great help. I was curious about the rigid angular pipe that runs across the front of the engine. It doesn't use a collar, it has something that is attached to a hex bolt holding it in. My questions are: How do you get it off once the retaining bolt is removed? Once it is off is there anything special you need to use during reassembly that prevents it from leaking? P.S i have gotten the 4 bolts off and the top.

Hi, after u removed all bolt holding the tube you should be able to pull it out, there must be orings, replace them with new ones when u put the tube back.

Andy, one more question. Does your car have the serpentine belt tensioner? Which direction do I turn to tighten belt? Is the tensioner attached to water pump? I want to replace the tensioner and was wondering if removing the water pump makes the tensioner easier to replace. Thank you!

hi tony, yes it has a belt tensioner, im not totally sure but depending on the production year they differ. I dont think its worth removing the water pump to replace the tensioner. Google it, im sure there tons of videos on this subject...

Andy, great video as always. I have a couple questions. Do you have to remove the valve cover and/or head to replace water pump? I do t know how old my water pump is in my 1994 C280 with 105,000 miles. Should I replace just to be safe? I already have a genuine Mercedes pump just sitting in my cabinet.

Hi Tony. Funny enough, im subscribed to your channel.... No, you dont need to remove the valve cover ot the head.... replacing water pump on 104 engine is pretty simple... check my channel, i have a video where i replaced water pump on my S320, it has same engine.

Mine W202 C280 is leaking from the block below the Water Pump. Do you have any idea what that particular part is called?? I don't want to have to replace the pump if it isn't necessary....

Look closer, it's probably leaking from o-ring between the water pump and the block. there's nothing under the water pump that can leak coolant, unless you have a cracked block.

it depends on the year and model, it's the same base casting, but there are different ports. make sure to get the right one. go to your local MB dealer with your VIN and ask them to check what water pump PN do you need.

Энди, у меня есть вопрос к тебе как к специалисту по М104. Я недавно обнаружил что изоляция на проводах идущих от воздушного насоса в сгнившем состоянии. Ясно что нужно менять всю проводку от начало и до разъёма. Внешний осмотр показывает что кабель резко берёт начало в области шкифа насоса. Поэтому, возможно ли произвести замену проводки не снимая сам насос или всё-таки для выполнения замены кабеля придётся его снимать? Заранее благодарю за ответ!

я так понимаю, ты имеешь в виду компрессор системы кондиционирования воздуха, который стоит слева?
там один провод (минус идет через массу) и идет он от електромуфты компрессора до штекера который прикреплен к корпусу компрессора, далее через штекер уходит в жгут проводов.
Если нужно менять провод на самом компрессоре, то придется снимать компрессор или разобрать весь перед машины (снять радиатор) для доступа к компрессору и сьема електромуфты.
Если надо менять от штекера до жчута проводов, то это просто. отсоединяешь провод от штекера и замена.....
аккуратно...может придется вскрывать жгут для замены провода. Там наверняка будут сюрпризы

Приветствую дружище! На самом деле речь идёт о smog pump. И сегодня я сделал его детальный осмотр. Снять его, как мне видится, не представит больших сложностей. Вопрос лишь по прежнему в том, как на нём менять кабель, ибо в данной модели кабель не имеет разъёма на насосе чтобы можно было бы его снять и одеть новый. Он (кабель) выходит из насоса наподобии того как дерево растёт из земли, то есть нет никакого контактного соединения/разъёма по выходе из насоса. Есть конечно заводской кабель (для других вариантов насоса М104) но он предполагает разъём (папа/мама). Скорее всего придётся разобрать ту часть насоса откуда выходит кабель и напрямую соединить с новым кабелем. Надеюсь что смог объяснить.

Ок. Я немного не понял тк ты говорил о шкиве на насосе, на моем шкива нет.
Снимается он легко, насколько я помню там 2 болта через резиновый как-бы хомут.
Режь провода и ставь разъем на будущее.

Спасибо! Видимо я напутал со словом шкив; просто не знаю как правильно называть деталь насоса которая вращается от ремня.
P.S. Я посмотрел как ты коробку собрал - понравилось. Скорее всего мне предстоит такая же работа, раза два в течении года было так что не включалась первая скорость. Полагаю что это уже фрикционные диски отработали своё. Пробег 220.000 (Е320 1994 года). Что скажешь?

I dont think i torqued these bolts, couldn't get the torque wrench in. Just do it "good-n-tight"
