I installed two floor drains for sump pumps. They are also stomp grates and a shower drain. The first is a 28-inch cast iron storm drain. I winged tapering the concrete and it came pretty good. The 2nd drain I could not get the concrete to taper toward the drain (to small an area to work) so it tapers toward the first drain 2 feet away.

Ben, Really like your videos great info and always very good tips and tricks! 1 question do you ever install the primer injectors/ primer to prevent possible sewer smell in basement or garages? Especially in heated floor installs?

What about venting it and back flow prevention?

Why does that PVC floor drain fitting include a passage that slopes downward at a 45 deg angle? It looks like it would bypass the trap and allow sewer gas to come into the room. Is there a check valve inside to prevent that from happening?

Its a clean out. There is a plug you can unscrew from the top (accessible) side so that your snake has a straighter shot, as opposed to having to go through the trap.

@@jimyeats That makes more sense than my speculation. Thanks.

@@jimyeats I get that but what makes it not an "S" trap?

@@jwblount7802it will not have water going through it .....just a snake no water going through it to drain out the trap 😂

@@jimyeatsI send it through traps all the time and half of the time it's right in the traps....clear alot of them with just a toilet agar

Is the floor drain vented below the trap weir?

If you don't have a level, you shouldn't be doing any plumbing.
