No degree, and started as an administrative assistant/bookkeeper. After two years, I am the Finance Controller. 😂
wow nice job!
@@777ter 😂 that was pretty good. My dad was a janitor so I would still have pride in it.
Did you have certifications I am curious to know the path you took
@@rashad.7494 I worked for a small business that was acquired. The new owner saw my career goals and offered me a position. Very thankful for the once in a lifetime opportunity.
How did you get bookkeeper knowledge? Self study?
No degree here, but when I started bookkeeping, I found I loved accounting and had a knack for it. Lots of other accountants who went to school had no idea what actual accounting is before they started working, and I find they're more rules-based than principles based and often don't like it.
Get that CPA License folks. I wish I would have done that 30 years ago lol
dont need a CPA to be an accountant.
@@Jimothy-723 The CPA designation certainly helps.
@@staystrongpeople4942hi how does it help I am thinking of getting my accounting certificate
I just signed a full time offer for "Junior Bookkeeper" at a merchandise company after 1 year of studying. Couldn't be happier.
if you don’t mind asking, how much would you earn?
@@Dimaz35 don't expect much but it's a golden step into bigger roles in the future.
Congratulations 🎊

Can you share on how you did it? I finished my 4 year in what you would call Business Admin and had no luck. Had some accounting classes. I got no hands-on experience, so not sure how I should approach about getting this type of position.
I’m in my third semester to get a associate in accounting then transferring to get a bachelors
Will you get a bachelors is accounting or a bachelors in something else? I hear that pairing it with something else is more marketable so I’m not sure which path I should choose
you legaly can not call yourself an accountant in the USA without a bachelors degree in accounting, economics, or finance.
I have an AAS (Associate of Applied Science degree), an accounting certificate and a Bookkeeping certificate. I graduated December 2022. I received my official diplomas today and I still have no found an AP or AR job in my area or state that doesn't want 3-5 years experience or a Bachelor's degree.
Those degree and these certificates were a scam and waste of money!! So no, I don't believe this crap.
I’m in the same position :( have you tried a staffing agency ?
@@cindycedeno5534
Those are scams, and there’s no accounting jobs or employers willing to hire.
Thank you for the content. Your youtube channel is so helpful!!
Hi Bill, which job will be best for a CMA Professional?
I work in hospitality sector at the moment with 8 year experience and counting!.
What can someone with a BSc Accounting and MSc Finance earn outside travel and tourism/hospitality industry?
Your input is highly appropriated in advance.
Thank
Thanks so much for your expertise
You summes this up easy as pie
Thanks for making the content
hi, new subscriber! I am now an AP specialist and I am looking to get certified, but i don’t know where or do you think it’s worth it? (please reply if you can)
Hello Sir,
Education..Bcom (Mumbai University) 2004
No experience in Accounting Field
How can I start my accounting career..?
What is you have a degree in a different field? Does that help/ hurt ?
Hello Sir,
My name is Vikas from India. I have completed my Masters of Commerce and
I have 6 years experience in accounts payable field in a USA based company in India.
Now i want to part time/ full time work online, it is possible for me? I want to work hard and earn more money
Wow this was good information. I didn't know you could get paid so much with simple high school degree. Also feels weird that Accounts Payable Manager is 95k but CPA after so much work and probably gathering experience is 200k. Just a 100k jump.
Controller though can accelerate toward higher numbers plus they get a decent stock package. Thanks for watching
@zan1971 While it is possible to land an AP, AR, or bookkeeping job with a high school degree, there's a high chance that you won't because there are plenty of college graduates out there who are competing for these jobs as well. Besides, these days all companies want experience, and if you only have a high school degree and no experience, your chance of getting hired is zero.
How much does a staff accountant make?
Wow after watching this I looked on indeed and there are definitely some positions available with no degree required 😮 I’m about to start school for my accounting degree should I still go?
Nice explanation 😁
Wouldn’t a cpa licensee require you to work for two years in a cpa firm? If yes do how would I get the experience required for cpa working in AP?
Is a Masters of Accounting a decent degree? What kind of entry level position would that education allow?
I have a video on the channel on masters in accounting!
Great video. I will like to be a controller in the future. Currently a CPA in big 4 Tax. Received 2 offers in industry with 2 public companies +1B in revenue. One is for a revenue accounting staff and the other one internal audit staff. Which one would you recommend? I just want to leave tax ASAP but don’t want to hurt my career any further. I will appreciate your opinion. Thank you!
What did you decide ??
If I were you, I would go for revenue accounting staff. Auditing is too stressful. Both are better than tax though!
Is A Level Maths important?
Doesn’t CMA’s make more than CPA’s why would a CMA opt for Procurement and not a finance role?
Do you think an accounting certificate is worth it, or should I just go for a bachelor's degree?
Go for a degree. It's always better than certificates or diplomas.
I'm considering pursuing an A.A.S. degree in accounting. I take it this is something you would recommend?
Same here.
This is not accurate!
Yes it is. Not 100%, but mostly it is.
I have BS accounting and have no luck finding a job
Any luck?
Do you still didn't got job yet?
I have big 4 2 years and a degree yet no one wants to hire me
Damn if you aren't being hired no wonder why I've been receiving dozens of rejection emails everyday :/
thats if they hire you
With automation likely happening to bookkeeping, A/P, A/R jobs, would an Accounting degree still be worth it? Lower level jobs going away means that getting an entry level job or breaking into the field would be near impossible.
Still worth it. It will pay even more but you have to learn financial systems (ERP, Procure to Pay, etc)
