    ...looks like they got the sharpening choil right, :-) ..flipper tab hidden in the handle when open..not in the way when closed ..'great design'...nice.. been looking at this a little while...(1pm)..just went to my local Benchmade dealer about 3 miles down the road...all knives on sale this month...came back with a 490...couldn't help it, just wish they weren't so close to the house :-) ...very nice blade ! a great knife that's been over looked ....c'ya, take care....

      JCB 67 yea it's not one that you hear a lot about and I love how thin the blade stock is cause it a great slicer. You can't go wrong with any of the 940's like an idiot I sold my 940-1 and I totally regret it eventually I'll pick up another one but for now my 950 Rift will have to hold me over till I'm not broke as a joke. I have a knife shop 15 minutes from the house definitely not a good thing for me especially since they have great prices and carry pretty much all my favorite brands. Well brother hope your having a great day talk to you later

    Nice looking unit. I've heard of Benchmade's customer service, and that would be a factor in a purchase. I don't mind assisted, particularly when working one-handed. The only drawback is that safety.

    Love that blade grind, I agree they need to calm down on the billboard stuff though. Don't need to read from across the room! Really like the nearly invisible flipper too. Sleak, clean, simple - not much to complain about! Perhaps some fine ribbing on the contours would be the only thing it's really missing to add a bit of grip. Gotta admit, in spite of having QC issues Benchmade will make anything right and take care of you from their most expensive to least. Very nice!

      slidetek yea that is one reason I will still buy a benchmade cause there warranty and customer service is awesome there are not a lot of companies that are as good as them besides like esee and tops and some jimping on some of the handle would have been great but even without it the ergoes lock you in pretty good for it being so smooth beside that and maybe making it a manual opener would probably be the only two things I would have done differently

    Hey Stassa, doesn't the assist kind of defeat the best feature of the axis lock, being able to one hand close? Love the blade shape and it seems like a well executed assist though.

    • @Stassa23
      @Stassa23  6 років тому +2

      Kjack yes it kinda does but it still lends itself to be a strong lock. I'm definitely not a fan of assisted blades but I don't mind it to much on this one. I love how well it slices and the steel is pretty good stuff. Well brother hope your having a great night talk to you later

    Nice knife.. I buy all my BM's in store so they are all centered, decent edges, no play etc.. I respect your opinion and you know knives.. I'm curious what you don't like about the axis lock ? ?
    I'm a little leery of them because of omega springs but I've had no problems.. Some can be easier to shake open due to axis..It's very finicky as far as adjusting pivots..Also, if a new one comes off centered, they are a bitch or impossible to center.. For these reasons, I try not to have more then 4 or so...I sold about 5 and bought about 3 more so I'm up to 7 axis locks.. I don't really do DLC blades but just bought a 551-1 G10 with DLC blade... It looks like a different knife then the satin one but I think I like it...Be curious to hear your thoughts.. Thanks for awesome videos...

    i like that it has s90v but the flipper is to small for me. and i think that there is to much going on in that area

      Rough Rooster Knife Sharpening I'm just the opposite especially being an assisted knife there is really no reason to make it any bigger just my opinion though but I would have liked the knife way more if it would have been a manual knife. Well brother hope your having a great day talk to you later

    Quick question for you. I just purchased the 490 and it came with some serious centring issues. It is the first knife I've felt uncomfortable taking apart. Any ideas on fixing the centre on the blade? and Have you taken one apart? Thanks in advance

    • @Stassa23
      @Stassa23  6 років тому +2

      Casey Selanders I’ve never taken this one apart nor have I taken any of there assisted ones apart try tightening the pivot all the way then loosen the body screws then push the blade all the way to the side in the direction opposite the side it was off center to i usually stick something between the blade and the scale to push it all the way to the other side after you’ve done that tighten the body screws back up then slowly loosen the pivot till centered. If that doesn’t help then you may need to send it in. Well I hope this was somewhat helpful and that you are having a great day talk to you later

    Lamborghini Diablo of knives...would you drive your lambo to the corner store everyday? ...no
    You forgot to mention how slippery these particular aluminum scales are! At times when handling this knife, I feel like I'm holding onto an oil slicked titty at a strip club! Just try and grab a thigh, as you're slipping deeper into the vasoline pit!! This thing is SLICK!!!
