  • (A little extra video because a fella commented wanting it - • synced wrapping audio )
First off I suppose I should say the music is Odesza - Love Letter. Tis alright I think yeah, a lot of Odesza's stuff would be half decent I find but at the same time I'd have an odd taste in music like so idk.
The only time the drone got took out all summer and only because it was the last job. The father went out and bought a mower there only a few weeks back so that's handy, its a 4328 kverneland, 2012, tis grand. Ford drives it away lovely. Got the brother to fly the drone that day so the mowing footage is quite good.
Then I raked it with the rotonde on the ford but forgot the drone sd card so no footage at all of that job. Baled it with the replacement 3130 massey baler I got on loan after the original burnt. There's a Claas ares 557 there now as well to replace the Renault. Other than dyna 6 up from dynashift in the Renault they're almost identical tractors underneath the panels.
I was flying the drone and baling at the same time so that's why the baling section of the video isn't as nice as the mowing footage. Same with the wrapping, it's hard to do both jobs and fly a drone. Put the gopro magnet mount to good use as well. Slow to get out after each bale and move it around though...
Near the end of the video I ran out of footage pretty much so I stuck in headcam footage of later that night when I was wrapping bales of ours a few miles away. The magnet mounted wrapper shots on the spinning table were taken in a different field on a different day of second cut as well if you didn't notice but hopefully blends in ok. And then a clip of when I got back home to the shed after mowing a couple of days before but if I didn't say that just pretend it's after I did the wrapping haha. I stuck that in there as well because you'll be able to see the newest purchase that'll be featuring in videos hopefully next year, a big Same Galaxy 170. Some horse of a yoke. Always had a notion for a laser 150 but saw this come up and said I'd give it a go. Needs a clutch and wiring and things but I'll get it sorted....
Wanted a bigger tractor to pull big slurry tankers so that's why that was bought. It's 1000 pto only which is a nuisance really so I'll have to try buy a tanker with a hydraulic drive pump on it already fitted if I can find one but I'll worry about that next year. It's New Zealand round two for me this winter, visa approved and pretty much ready to fly out once I get the machinery tidied up and parked for winter. Same outfit with the John Deeres I was with before I'm going back to as well so no variety in videos unfortunately but it's a grand job and I wouldn't be going back if I hadn't that job to go back to if you know.
Anyway, that's that, season over. I know some of ye actually read the whole lot of this description so to those of you who made it this far I said I might ask ye, what do ye do in the winter for a job like when there's no farm contracting work?
I'd say I'll try out lorries and see how that goes myself but I'll see if I stick at it or not. Could go either way...

Best of luck with the Same, what’s the difference between the laser and the galaxy as Google is no help at all?I find no more quiet than Summer so spend all my time trimming hedges, tanking, dung trailering or the odd bit of stock work with the usual bit of dairy cow tlc. I don’t know how anyone finds more time in the winter the days only last for 8 hours and it’s always crippling cold out the cab 😂

Thanks, tis a Laser 150 I was after really, it had 540 pto and 1000, that was the main thing. But they also have different gearboxes and back end too. Galaxy would be an older style back end but built heavier. It had an older type of brake setup and things like.
I don't work on the farm so that's how I would end up free in the winter, I just do all the machinery side of things. I hate the cold as well, so miserable.

Thanks Kieran, yeah a lot of the time I'd do every job with the ford yeah because it's my only tractor but if I'm under pressure I will borrow the zetor from my dad for raking or wrapping or tedding.
Was planning to buy a second tractor that was bigger than the ford next year to take over the heavier work and so I wouldn't have to keep borrowing the zetor. I saw this Same galaxy there a few weeks back which was almost perfect but it doesn't have 540 to do baling, raking or tedding, so that's a big no no for me really. Knew it at the time it was going to be a problem but I'd only be kicking myself letting a yoke like that go over something simple like that. I've a thing for lasers you see so didn't want to let that one go. It's a big tractor for wrapping but I think it might be doing that next summer haha 😅 clutch on it too heavy for baling anyway I'd say. I'll see how it gets on in the wrapper and if I end up liking the tractor I'll convert the baler to 1000 box.
I know of Cian alright, I wouldn't be gone on his videos to be honest. I'd only watch the crystal videos and there's one video there interviewing peter falvey on his low loader and they talk about the haulage industry, that was good.
I'd only be getting into the lorries for winter work like outside of silage contracting, I wouldn't be a real lorry fanboy like. No one in the family drives lorries and I'm not good friends with any lorry drivers either. They're all going on about driver shortages and I don't mind driving that much so 🤷‍♂️ idk, give it a go. Hopefully good wages out of it, I hear 17 or 19 an hour. Better pay than tractor driving jobs anyway. Even in Nz I was getting 16.50 and hour and I thought that was good.

@@eddiethornton1859 No I wouldn't buy a standard mchale baler. No locks on the door and I hear they start to split the net when they get older if you don't wrap them immediately after baling.

It's a bit of a project alright, it's been parked in that spot since I bought it, rewiring it currently and needs a clutch. Will be next year before it does any work, hopefully mowing, harvesting and pulling a slurry tanker.
