I watched Soul Train every single Saturday at noon. Then I would go dancing and try to remember all the steps from the dancers. I'm sure your grandmother and I danced and had fun to the same exact songs back in our day. The 70's American Bandstand, and Soul Train were our M.T.V. My dear you would have loved it all. God bless you for honoring your grandmother.

I love your grandmother. 70's music was the very definition of soul music, there was always a relatable story and they sang from the soul and you felt It in your soul. We will never have music like that again.

Another great choice by your dear grandmother! We also watched soul train every week...so many amazing artists on that show. As Don Cornelius always said, "Peace, Love and Soul"!!!

Don Cornelius was a staple on Saturday morning in my house. Soul Train introduced me to so much r&b and soul and funk. This is coming from a white 49 yr old truck driver. Music like this taught me that I can enjoy and appreciate everything no matter my background. Stay the course on this journey you’re on. You’ll appreciate it even more later in life as you share with your kids and grandchildren like I do. Keep pushing.👍👍

If you notice the arrangement since if you’re from Chicago you know a Chicago people how we did this was 1971 on the west side of Chicago two of my aunties used to dance on this soul train I was about seven then the end of 71 they moved Hollywood California. This video is when they still were in Chicago west side baby.

Oh the memories, I used to get in trouble for sneaking and watching Soul Train because we were only allowed to listen to Gospel music. :D Thanks for sharing.

I really enjoyed hearing this. I had only heard this song done by Chrissy Hynde and The Pretenders from 1984, but not this original version. Both versions are great!

I love this song. The band The Pretenders did a very good version in the '80s. It's so cool that you're connecting to your roots and doing a song requested by your grandma. I would like to see your reaction to the singer my mother loved and I have grown attached to after reexamining her. Please give a listen to "The Man That Got Away" by Judy Garland... ua-cam.com/video/T0xV1d1bi_Y/v-deo.html
