Even more incredible than this scene is the fact that a band called "Asia" covered Cartman's song and made it into a number one hit without giving credit!
You know how I know your gay; you love Asia. And what I think is more incredible than your little tid bit, is your name as well as your extensive knowledge on this band. We could hang out.
@TheDusk420 i was thinking the same and they do it another time i want to say in the water park or in a Faith +1 song, but I can't remember they make really good songs. I want to know what that move is called lol is that what they refer to as a half step key change? I need to take a music theory class.
Like all the background singers just bring genuine emotion to the song. It gets me sometimes when I watch the episode because I don’t think it was 100% clear if Cartman was doing this so he could sell the fetuses for research or if he genuinely cares about Kenny
I like how everone in congress knows the lyrics of Heat of The Moment so well that they can all sing it unanimously and perfectly without messing up a single lyrics. I know it's not the best voice, but the passion and knowledge is there.
pretty sure it's on a soundtrack cd or something. They did a full version of the "Let's fighting love" as well, so i'm guessing they did one for this as well.
Bro ngl, I was crying during this scene, so hard. Then the man made a Shakey's Pizza, and I've never felt so mad at a fictional character before. Cartman is excellently written.
I like to think that Cartman truly cared about finding a cure for Kenny, even if he did have an ulterior motive near the end of the episode. He looked for a cure even before he knew that stem cells could be used to build a Shakey’s Pizza, and of course there’s that moment in the hospital where he tells Kenny that he’s his best friend. Anyway though, this is one of my favorite scenes in South Park. It’s funny, very heartfelt, and shows Cartman in a more childlike, vulnerable light (even if he just wants a Shakey’s in the end lmao).
No, it's funny because he really doesn't care, but he has so much potential and is a genius, but only when it suits his selfish motives. I want him to care about Kenny of course, but the whole premise of the joke is that no matter how heartfelt he is, or seems to be, he really just doesn't care and everything he does is self serving. That's the whole point of it.
My heart actually melted a bit because of Cartman using his unnatural power of persuasion to help save Kenny’s life, only for a complete 180 at the end with the cells creating a Shakey’s Pizza.
People are saying this is sad and touchy and stuff, but i dont think many have actually watched the actual episode, cos this scene is actually eric manipulating all these people so he can use stem cells to make his own shakeys pizza but trying to trick them into thinking its about kennys fatal disease

I love the touch at the end where Cartman goes for the high harmony. I’m totally the guy that does that in a group singing situation or even just in the car. I can’t sing very well, but I still do it because it _feels_ good. Lol
"i'm not the best speaker in the world" says the guy who is more influential than Hitler could ever hope to be. Never bet against Cartman to do the impossible.
This song should play at funerals more often. This song is great for how emotional it is, and I think Kenny Dies is the first episode of the series that gave Cartman a redemption arc. Well, except for near the end of the episode, but that's besides the point. I will always love this episode with all my heart.
The way that guy in the crowd says “and I that would wipe the smile right from my face” has stuck in my head since this episode aired. It’s so bad that I instinctively have to sing those words in his exact tone and cadence anytime I hear a portion of this songs.
Verse 1] I never meant to be so bad to you One thing I said that I would never do A look from you and I would fall from grace And that would wipe the smile right from my face Do you remember when we used to dance? And incidents arose from circumstance One thing led to another, we were young And we would scream together songs unsung [Chorus] It was the heat of the moment Telling me what your heart meant The heat of the moment showed in your eyes [Verse 2] And now you find yourself in Eighty Two The disco hot spots hold no charm for you You can concern yourself with bigger things You catch a pearl and ride the dragon's wings [Chorus] Cause it's the heat of the moment Heat of the moment The heat of the moment showed in your eyes
Eric Cartman is such a great and unique character. In movies and such it's always the good character who pulls an awesome and heartfelt speech out her butt. Cartman is is like a walking argument asking "what if he's an asshole?"
Am I the only one that thinks that Cartman’s tears here were maybe a little genuine? Maybe he wanted to give everyone the idea after he failed saving him that he just wanted to do it for his own stupid selfish reasons so Kyle and Stan would grieve easier knowing that Cartman was truly the most evil friend out of all of them? He could have also done it to feed his villain persona he seems to be building as the series continues because he feels like empathy and sadness is something that’ll hold you back if it’s something that can never be fixed, so he deludes his mind with the idea that he doesn’t care as a coping strategy and an outlet to express his sociopathic tendencies towards everyone. Cartman is evil, yes, but there’s some moments before in the show, very rare, brief instances where he tries protecting his friends, even after all of the horrible things he’s put them through.

Two layers of subtext.
1. The song is about irresponsible sex.
2. Cartman really just wants to try and clone Shakey's Pizza.
He almost had It too... Just needed a few more foetus to finish the kitchen
"Irresponsible sex"
"Use fetus to clone a pizzeria"
Oh yeah, it's all coming together
3. Kenny comes back as if nothing happened one season later, like he always did beforehand.
I think he actually tried to save Kenny, but once it was too late, he used it for the pizzeria
Lime the powers of Mysterion (curse of Cult of Cthulhu) brought him back.
One of the strongest emotional moments of South Park
