If there was a third queen Nia would've known. She wasn't asleep the whole time you literally see a cutscene of her talking to M about going to sleep meaning Nia was awake for quite a few generations until sometime after the original City was destroyed. We also don't know how early Melia was captured since many things in the game imply that she was in charge of Keves for a while (the castle's look with the mural from Alcamoth, her room with Shulk's Monado REX, etc.)
The actual answer I think is obvious but you have to understand many things like (this is long, bear with me, sorry):
1. Agnus Castle didn't always exist where it is now, the original City couldn't have been right underneath it meaning the Castle was moved there after its destruction probably since Mobius had control of Agnus by then so they moved it there either as a warning, to keep watch, or any other reasons.
2. The Cradles don't need a queen to work, we only ever see Fake Melia bringing up the Cradles, with no proof that she's needed to be there to have lives put in them. When the City takes Cradles they never open them so they maybe could make soldiers after some time if they're opened or since Ethels is now empty and we don't know if hers could make lives again or not they could also need a power source that the Castles and the destroyed one still has left to make said lives.
3. The old Castle is in a place with lots of Safronia, a flower which we know Nia loves from her Ascension Quest so it's easy to understand that when Nia was awake and still the Queen she'd love to live there.
Given these 3 points, the more likely answer is simple: Agnus castle used to be there but after the destruction of the original City and after Nia went to sleep and was no longer the Queen Mobius attacked, destroyed, took over, and moved the Castle somewhere else not knowing that a few Cradles still functioned (or didn't care) and were recycling the same few hundred people (which is why Nimue was reborn there again) who were not bound by the Flame Clocks since they weren't properly opened in a castle by Mobius like City Ethel was or maybe they weren't even born with Flame Clocks back then since Mobius didn't have control of Angus at the beginning of Aionios.
Well the false queens as we know were never needed in order for the castles to operate, but just like the ranking systems true end, they just exist for the factions to have something to look towards and work hard for. Which is why I say even though the queens arent needed for cradles to operate, to Moebius they were a necessary piece to fool the people. And there very easily could have been another faction if they so followed their own trend consistently and didnt have this as an outlier. And to me it just makes more sense that during the time when Nia was in control of Agnus castle it was where we see it in 3 which is what allowed the original City to able to be not that far. Highly possible but not entirely sure.
I didnt put it in the video but X can also be connected to the Saffronias in the way that Elma likes cherry blossoms, which the saffronia is .really what Xenoblade 2's version of those are. And it's more difficult for me to believe that Moebius destroyed the castle intentionally and forgot about it or left behind such substantial pieces to their existence, the cradles.
Xenoblade x is Xenoblade 10 the universes have already merged together, mira is the new aionios that have already all the evolutioned species of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and some remain of a higher power
The only thing I can think of is if the DLC has a epilogue in and it has the White Whale crash landing in one of the worlds or a fused world and elma heads out to issue a warning of impending doom.
XENOBLADE 3 SPOILERS AHEAD: The best theory I’ve seen is that it’s simply the old Agnus Castle, and it was destroyed in a fight between an old team of Ouroboros against Moebius, possibly one of Noah and Mio’s past lives that we see in between Chapters 5 and 6. (Also explains the lack of a working Flame Clock) Then the new Agnus Castle was rebuilt next to where the old City was, the one that N destroyed in order to resurrect his Mio as M. As much as I love your theory, I’m holding out my hope. Oh also #XenobladeX sorry just finished the video lol
It's all good lol glad you stayed to the end. And yea it could be an old Agnus castle, especially considering it is in Cadensia super close to the current Agnus Castle. What is strange that I didnt mention in the video is that even though that colony isnt tied to that flame clock, that flame clock still came back online with some life still showing left, just thought of that 🤔.
Anyways glad you liked it regardless but this idea of another tie to X might be super generous, but I wanna hold out hope for my girl Elma lol
