      If you buy state and go entry level make sure you get the 4130 line, also black friday is the best time to buy from them since those bikes should be on a 300 mystery sale.

    This is the future of bike racing. Now a days not too many people watch a stage from beginning to end. RHC is fast, furious, full of color, available for everybody (bikes are relatively cheap) and just amazing. GCN should help to promote this kind of races and maybe organize one as well

    I did Red Hook Brooklyn for the first time this year on a 1980s track bike. I used a modern wheelset and components, so the weight was pretty similar to most of the bikes shown in this video. I wasn't alone, as there were a few other people racing lugged steel bikes as well. I was running 23s and had 50x15 as my ratio, although the Brooklyn course is different than Milan.

    Red hook bikes always look way hotter than world tour bikes. You missed the coolest part of that Cinelli tho. It's the new Vigorelli Shark with an aero "fin" below the BB inspired by the old Cinelli Laser. Can't wait to get my hands on one. Love how Cinellis look and handle.

    One of the other cool bits of tech is that track bike frames' geo typically sees a raised bottom bracket to avoid pedal strike. This means that the high BB, shorter 165mm cranks and road pedals, pedal strike is nearly eliminated. Also, at 2:37, the woman in the background was the rider whose bike was being featured.

    I love riding my fixed gear bike. I used to ride a road bike. I decided to jump to a fixed gear bike as it is just much simpler. It has been around since for decades. In fixed gear races, it is lesser about the tech and more about the skills. You dont have to have a full carbon bike to win a race. It is also much more fun to ride than a road bike. I have been riding fixed gear for about 6 years now and looking back, selling my road bike for a fixed gear bike has been the greatest decision of my cycling life.

    • @reddaB
      @reddaB 5 років тому

      I really want to try it but I also love brakes... How do u handle emergencies on the road? I have to emergency brake all the time where I live. Pedestrians all seem to be trying to commit suicide on roads right now.

    • @hafeezeminem
      @hafeezeminem 5 років тому +1

      @@reddaB you can ride fixed gear bikes with no brakes. Start with two brakes.. once you are confident back pedaling to slow down you can remove your rear brake. After that just use your front brake for emergencies only. You can learn how to skid a fixed gear bike. There are loads of tutorials on it on UA-cam. You can keep the front brake on as a form of emergency. The most important thing about riding a fixed gear bike is to be aware of your surrounding and always look ahead.

    Short cranks, as well as the high clearance, would surely make sense for high rev races. If the racers are doing 100+rpm, smaller circles would have to be easier to get around so quickly.
    And yes, more of this kind of content. Lots of cyclists have single speeds/fixed gears as our 2nd/commuter/round-town bike (well, I do, anyway) and it's great to see things that apply to that end of the scale.

    I don't really find Red Hook or the crit scene to be to my taste, but it's easy to see why the series has found such success and will continue to grow. Ultra low entry barriers for individuals, sponsors, manufacturers, host cities. Fast-paced and easy-to-follow action, incredibly simple rules. Fans who have never seen a bike race can understand everything they need to know 3 feet from the whole thing from warmups to finish line and watch the whole race in a giant hipster street party fueled by a never-ending onslaught of social media.

    The Specialized Allez is the Allez Sprint frame. It has D’Aluisio Smartwed (DSW) which adds extra aluminum to the frame in the torque points of the bike. It’s also running the Fact 9 carbon seatpost from the Venge. They build this bike for Team Rocket Espresso as track specific and release another to the public with vertical dropouts and road spacing for a full cassette. They do a limited run of the horizontal dropouts so if you want on get one as soon as they release.
    The helmet is the Evade II, also from Specialized. They designed this helmet with specific aerodynamics and cooling features in mind. This is a fantastic example of Specialized putting their wind tunnel to work to create a product this is functionally aero with still all the amazing safety features you would expect. My favorite bit - they designed it with a magnetic clasp. Boom, thank you Specialized. You have my chin in mind 😂
