I hope you all enjoy this video as much as I did visiting CorsaCorsa. An amazing shop that I was so lucky to get to visit. A late night email 11.30pm the day before, I chanced a visit. An almost instant reply welcoming me to the shop. ♥️
Wow Jon, I think you spent like 7 hrs. in that shop (I can't blame you). I remember my teenage years when I can only dream about bicyles like that. My brother in law has a few in Puerto Rico and nothing rides as smooth as these bicycles...
This is amazing! Rumor has it that Jon actually never made it out of there, and he's still interviewing campy derailleurs and six-speed cassettes to this day....
That was my Era of bikes-recognized every bike you showed. Love the C35 with Campy gold grouppo. The 50th anniversary Groupon still in the box was amazing. That's where I wanna go when I die!
Love the video Jon, It is just great to see someone who is that passionate about bikes see the bikes of his dreams. Reminds me of all the days as a child I spent in bike shops staring at all the parts I couldn't buy.
One of the joys of living in Tokyo is that this is close enough to be my LBS. It's about half an hour's ride away from my house. As someone who does most of his riding on an '88 Colnago, it's good to have places like this around.
How are there dislikes to this video? You must be kidding, that shop is incredible. The owner must be a true devoted bike lover! All the history and craftsmanship, it’s like a museum.
The artwork is unbelievable. A Cinelli Laser road bike? A Bianchi Centenario? That is kinetic art. Jon was in awe and so was I. The bikes in the background were classic. A Colnago Arabesque! I want to go there just to look at them! Those bikes had soul. Yes, the latest carbon fibre tech is lightweight and attractive in it's own way, but it has nothing on the beauty of those bikes. Polished metal drivetrains have given way to black. Vibrant colors to accent paint. Chrome to carbon weave. Shaped tubing at one time was rare, now it's common. Time moves on, but beauty is timeless. Thank you for making this video!
Bicycles are one of the greatest inventions in the history of humankind: It's a means of transport, fitness equipment, time machine and antidepressant , all in one beautiful package, because my bicycle takes me from a to b while improving my fitness and health, making me feel like I'm 13 again and filling my heart with joy, I don't remember ever being on my bike and not feeling happy.
Amazing piece of documentary and history. Its amazing that nowadays i can watch something like that for free and that someone like you can get to those people and make a video about them and their work. Such a great times to live in.
I didn't start riding until the early 2000s, then again in the last couple years. A few of these bikes are older than I am, but my first true road bike was a late 80s steel frame. As aero and lightweight as modern bikes are, and as smooth and plentiful as modern gears are, I still love the aesthetics and geometry of the older bikes. I can't explain why I love them, I just do.
I started riding in the early 1970s and I had owned a 1978 Colnago Super. This program brought me back to a great time in cycling and frame building. Thanks again!!
This video takes me back. I was fortunate enough to own Rossin, Basso, and De Rosa frames always equipped with Campagnolo Super Record. Owned 'em, rode 'em, LOVED 'em. My last Italian Campy bike was the De Rosa and my gruppo options were Shimano or Campy. It was 1985. I put Campy on it so the heritage was dignified and never looked back. I loved those bikes and have always felt some soul was forever lost when index shifting and the latest of the latest became the standard approach. My Serrota carbon/titanium Ottrott is wonderful but it lacks that elan those old Italian rigs just oozed. Sigh.....
Jon, you have to go into 100 bike shops and see the same bland models, to really appreciate this video and bike shop. You never see so many nice bikes in one place. thanks for sharing.
This has to be one of the most engaging videos ive ever watched. As a vintage lover myself I fully get how blown away you were to be up close to some of these bikes. Long live Campagnolo the absolute best..Colnago..and that Cinelli Laser TT...I wouldve lost it too...great vid Jon. 👍
As a huge Campagnolo fan, this Corsa Corsa shop is now a bucket list visit for me. What a wonderful place filled with beautiful bikes fitted with gorgeous components. Thanks for sharing, Jon!
The carbon fibre Colnago with the 5-spoke wheels was something to behold. Amazing shop. Great video! Cheers Jon. I would have been drooling just the same.
As a Ferrari lover, the Colnago C35 with gold detailing hits all the right spot! Praise to you, Jon, for being able to maintain composure in this dream store!!! Absolutely blown away......
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I started cycling in 1980 and had much of the equipment in the video. It reminded me of how much better in every possible way equipment has gotten since then.
Best ever GCNtech, more bike shop vids, more rebuild vids, more more more. Love your work. Best one? no I can not choose, no I will not choose I love em all. Especially the storage hanger of the Bianchi, definite Hack!
As someone who started racing in 1986, this is INCREDIBLE to see. I used to spend hours looking through magazines and catalogs at some of these frames and components. Every bike is amazing, I think the winner is that Cinelli Laser road: still one of the best looking frames ever, the Laser blue is incredible, 1st gen C-Record which is bar none the best looking group ever.
The most beautiful thing is that you get to Japan in a bike shop where the only spoken language is Campagnolo!!!! That's awesome!!!! I've lost my eyes on Bianchi Centenario. I love Bianchi!!!! I've been a rider myself on bianchi's bikes. I've notice something unusual: Indurain's bike you said from '96. Mounted a '94 cranckset. In '95 Record crankset changed shape with most rounded cranck arms. Probably it depends by Miguelon's preferences or by unavailabilty ok 180 mm long new kind of cranckset.... Who knows???
Thanks Jon! Another fantastic video. Your enthusiasm is contagious. I grew up working in bike shops in the 80s. You are spot on with content for GCN's viewing demographic!
Jon, your sheer delight and unbridled passion in this video touched new heights of enthusiasm. I loved it!! Made me think back to my bikes from the early eighties, 13-18 cassettes or 14-24, 52/42 and down tube gear shifters, one bike with internal tube cabling. Thank you!!
there are shops like that all over Japan for every type of fandom! The people are super meticulous in what ever they : work, hobby, have an interest, in... 100% hearing you gush, brings back memories of when I have walked in to random Auto shops and the classic period parts they are stored away for safe keeping.
I don’t care for vintage bikes, but seeing Jon’s reactions is like seeing a kid finding the giant LEGO Death Star kit under the Christmas tree. Awesome and moving.
Outstanding video Jon. Your genuine passion shines through, to the extent you even liked the beautiful Bianchi. One of the most gorgeous groups of bikes I have ever seen. One can only admire the detailed workmanship. Perhaps an example of the bicycle as an art form.
Bike Heaven! Amazing stuff and very very very rare stuff too. Such beautiful handmade craftsmanship in those vintage days. These bicycles have soul unlike the mass production stuff of today.
I rip on the modern production bikes because of their price tags and what you actually get but these vintage bikes have stood the test of time and beauty. It wouldn't phase me to pay a fortune to own one of these bikes. When these reviewers produce videos that say Dream Bike Build those are not the bikes of my dreams. I love the campy 1983 to 1985 stuff and still look for it.
The light blue Rosin with orange bar tape. A thing of beauty. Looks like most of the bikes are from the 'golden' road era where Campagnolo were dominant. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Great store, great video
Fantastic video. Heart warming and very touching. Sitting at home we could participate in such splendour. My favourite is Bianchi Centenario. A timeless classic. But they are all beautiful. Thanks, John
Absolutely awesome video! It's such a joy to see Jon's fascination for old tech and kit. Please keep those retro-videos coming, I really, really enjoy them!
It's funny because I don't have much interest for vintage bikes but Jon's interest is contagious! He seems to be so happy that it makes me feel great haha :)

Good to see that Jon is as much a bike geek as many of us are. Bravo Jon The special Bianchi has a black chrome finish popular at the time. I was lucky to ride Clement Criterium seta tires on my 1975 Raleigh Competition.

Love those stitched on grips. Got this shop on the list to visit.
Should have titled the video “John hits VO2 max for 21 minutes”.
Fuckin’ brilliant mate 😂
Can we get the Heart Rate data for Jon’s visit to Corsa Corsa?
You can see his watch while checking the Kalavinka. HR 1419!
Definitly over 9000 :)

I've watched this video multiple times and certainly will watch it over and over again in the future♥
One of the best videos from GCN to date. Outstanding.
There's not such a thing like Jon and bikes, it's true real passion
It’s touching and reassuring to witness Jon’s love of bicycles. It’s people like him who make GCN a special thing. Love it!
Would have been nice to hear a bit about the shop owner and how this collection was put together......
Perhaps the shop owner wasn’t willing to discuss such matters, many Japanese are often very humble and private people.

Nearly 3 years later and this is still the high water mark of GCN videos. Too bad that guy quit presenting.
@Jon Cannings you're my fav presenter on GCN. your enthusiasm is infectious!
Thanks. That means a lot to me
Wow, a lot of memories flooding back watching this 😲
Love the video Jon, It is just great to see someone who is that passionate about bikes see the bikes of his dreams. Reminds me of all the days as a child I spent in bike shops staring at all the parts I couldn't buy.
Yes. I grew up annoying the hell out of bike shop owners. Hanging around in a shop all day just asking questions and touching rear mechs etc.
One of the joys of living in Tokyo is that this is close enough to be my LBS. It's about half an hour's ride away from my house. As someone who does most of his riding on an '88 Colnago, it's good to have places like this around.

It was just incredible.
Hearing Jon correctly pronounce Campagnolo warms my heart.
Pronunciation of ‘Record’ needs some work though ;)
Still the best GCN video. Must have watched it 5 or 6 timers now! Bring him back to do an occasional special like this.
This is excellent, Jon's genuine, child like enthusiasm comes across with no faking. Fantastic!
From someone who still rides a 531 frame, you've just made my year.

Agree. Everything in that shop was from an era of lovingly made, artesan bike building. Now its just robot factories.

A big reason for the popularity of 24 inch front wheels was in team time trials. This allowed riders to draft even tighter.
I love watching Jon get excited. Nobody on the planet loves bikes more than he does. Except maybe the owner of that incredible shop.
