Thank you Mr. Pawson, I've learned so much about the Bible through your videos.......I enjoy them so much and have started my family on watching them as well........I read the Books first, than watch your videos to see all that I've missed. You're a wonderful teacher.
I am from India 😍this is the first time in my life I came to the understanding of the Life of prophet Jonah 😍 miracle of literal Resurrection from death 😍our God is the Lord of Resurrection 😍
Oh thankyou Lord and Saviour for raising up men who will not comprise on truth. It challenges me to rise up and stand for Christ. Bless you dear bond servant of the living God. Your Word oh Father is so precious. More than I have ever realised till now. Open up my eyes that I may behold wonderful truth from your word. Ps 119:18.
I have been listerning to a lots of preachers but yours is totaly specific to the bible contents god bless it has help me alot all i pray that the lord forgives my sin and accepts me...
I trust God gave the late Dr David Pawson wisdom and knowledge in His Word. He opened my eyes to the different portions of Scripture that I have been reading where Jonah was mentioned and never really understood what they meant. Dr Pawson connected those dots for me and all became clear helping me to have a new perspective of why Jonah responded the way he did. It has always puzzled me why this book in the Bible ended so abruptly and with a question.
Never knew Jonah was dead in the fish's belly... After hearing the teaching I read the Bible and found it... The words are simple in the Bible to understand the truth but how it has blinded our hearts and minds and we sit to read the Bible with a Sunday school mind set.
The story of Jonah is AMAZING. He runs away and god uses the fish to make the people THAT WORSHIPPED A FISH GOD to be part of the story. Essentially if Jonah had not run away maybe he would not have had the same story. The Catholic church to this day has the same god. Look at the Pope's head dress. It's a fish. Dagon Love you David. You changed my life and my children's. We all listen
Two questions David would ask to test where a person stood in their walk with God 1. Was Jonah a real person and the events real events or is the book of Jonah just a story? 2. Was Jonah alive or dead in the belly of the Whale? …… and why does it all matter ?
Wow. Thanks so much, David Pawson. Even in death, your teachings are touching the lives of many. Why did I not hear about this man when he was alive??? I would have attended all his conferences and teachings 😢
One of the best at analysing the bible. The only issue I have with some of his stuff is mainly his Protestantism seeping into the analysis (Isreal/Tongues) but tbf we all have our biases. This is still one of the best bible series on UA-cam. I wonder if he ever stepped into reading the church fathers too?
32:25 "He said six weeks from now, God will wipe Nineveh out unless you repent." But Jonah did not preach repentance. He did exactly what God told him to do in Jonah 1:2--he cried against Nineveh for their wickedness came before God. He told Nineveh that it would be "overthrown" in 40 days...and it was "overthrown". In Hebrew, the word used for overthrown also means changed and it was used when Saul was annointed and "changed" into another man. Nineveh was certainly changed because they repented, but it wasn't at Jonah's urging.
PLEASE HELP I'm having trouble finding the part in Kings proving Jonah blessing the king and the king doing more evil and can't really figure out the text. I know where Jonah shows up, but he's mentioned practically in passing. I love David's interpretation and never heard of it like this, but I want to find proof since this would make Jonah a more relate able person and not the horrible evil person so many pastors make him out to be.
Rabidcolombian My thinking in relation to the Amaziah passage in 2 Kings 14 is that there is no other explanation for why the border was restored other than the word of God given by Jonah. I think that it may be safe to construe the text to a blessing of Jonah in that sense.
I hate to say this, but take a look at Mr Pawson's hand as he points to the map at 07:51. That's a classic devil horns sign. Perhaps he didn't know? He did say "they both came from the north" as he pointed. So perhaps he meant to point to two places at once? I hope. We all need to keep our eyes and ears open at all times and never trust any man implicitly, only the Lord.
I've seen people point with their middle finger, not as a obscene gesture, but simply to point, like on a map. And that is what David is doing here. Back the video up a little and see that he is talking about two cities where they grew up (Nachum and Yonah). But you said that. Watching many of Pawson's videos his body language seems to convey a person trying to persuade people of his message. And I don't sense any deceit in his words. Has he been 100% without error? No. I translate the Bible and learned the biblical languages. I only say that because I critique the words of every pastor or preacher. And he is good, which is contrary to what I can say for the majority today. Now these (Bereans) were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica. They welcomed the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. Act 17:11
I’ve coped and pasted this for you off google.. This video says it is 8 years old but I am sure it is much much older. “In 1979, according to a retelling of the legend by The Florida Times-Union, Dio wanted a signal that would differentiate him from the departing Ozzy Osbourne when he replaced the singer in Sabbath. Ozzy was known for holding up double peace signs, so Dio started doing dual devil horns on stage with the band”. I don’t think David was intentionally doing a devil hand sign, he was just pointing at two places on the map with one hand, but well spotted. People nowadays make this sign and know very well what people put it down to and what they are celebrating.
Because that would mean putting and end to you and I also - all have sinned and fallen short of the kingdom of God But take hope, He is coming back to judge all wickedness and destroy sin forever - so your wish will come true, just not now
I cannot find anywhere in the book of Kings where Jonah blesses the wicked king of Israel. Pawson said to understand why he felt and acted the way he did you'd have to get it from Kings. But I only find like a verse in chapter 14 that mentions Jonah. Can anyone help me clarify this?
And Yahweh did not say that he would blot out the name of Yisra'el from under heaven, but he saved them by the hand of Yarov'am (Jeroboam) son of Yo'ash (Joash.) 2Kin 14:16 David P. is simply saying that the Lord saved Israel, in other words, blessed them. And this word came through Yonah the prophet. Like all of us, David is probably reading the passage over and over again trying to understand it. And we also look to commentaries to gain insight. The Bible says that He gifted the church with pastors and teachers - for our edification. But it's here in the context of the passage if you study it. 2 Kin 14:23-29.
As much as I love DP, he's got it wrong about Jonah going to bottom of the sea then a fish picking him up dead from the seafloor. It says in Jonah 2:1 that from inside the fish Jonah prayed, so he was still alive and conscious. I believe he began to drown in the sea, then the fish picked him up, he prayed as he was dying and then he died inside the fish, before later being spat out and brought back to life.
You are correct in that David teaches Jonah was dead in the belly of the fish and for many reasons, I do not believe he got it wrong - but got it right - please permit me to explain : 1. Whilst Jonahs Body was picked up and is in the Belly of the fish, Jonah states he prays from "deep within the realms of the dead". Jonah is saying he was dead and his disembodied spirit ended up in Sheol - "the realms of the dead - a place disembodied spirits go 2. Jonah confirms he was hurled to the bottom of the sea, the water was in his throat, he was engulfed , seaweed was wrapped around his head, to the roots of the mountains he sank and the earth beneath barred him in forever ..... how long could you survive with water in your throat, trapped by seaweed, ...and the earth barred you in forever ... does that not imply he had drowned ? Jonah would not have become disembodied and his spirit ended up in Sheol, the realms of the dead had he not died Yes the fish swallowed his body was in the belly of the fish for three days and 3 nights but it does not say he was alive - it says he was in the realms of the dead ie dead His journey from Joppa to Tarshish meant cross in the Mediterranean Sea - were the average depth 1.5km and max dept of 5km ...... how deep can you go, for how long and stay alive without sub aqua equipment ? Putting all that aside - Jesus specifically refers to Jonah - why ? I suggest to you because every Jew accepts Jonah wa stew creates resurrection of teh Old Testament ........ I suggest to you the reason Jesus refers to Jonah and says that greater than he is with you, is because he was saying he would also die and on the 3rd day be resurrected , you cannot be resurrected if you do not die, The miracle of Jonah is not he survived in the belly of a big fish - but that when the whale spewed his body out - he was resurrected from the dead
@DavidPawsonMinistry OK, I get David now on this thanks. By the way, I already did accept that he died and his soul went to Sheol, then was brought back to life and the clear connection to Jesus death and resurrection.
🙏Can share something with you When David met someone for the first time , he often would ask two questions ...depending on the answers he was given, it would tell David a lot about ones walk with God and whether they knew their Bibles .......I was also asked these questions ! and got the wrong! 1. Do you believe Jonah was a real person or just a good children's story /fable ? 2. Do you believe Jonah was alive or dead in the belly of the fish ? Depending on the answers given David would know a lot about someone walk with God and how much they read their Bibles I remeber a young man straight from theological college answering .....David does it matter whether Jonah was real of not? .....surely what is important is the message this book gives us ?!?!?!?!?! Of course the answer to question 2 has been given above above - which one can see for themselves if one reads the Book of Jonah however if you rely on what you may have been told, perhaps in Sunday school, you may believe he was alive and then Jesus reference would lose all significance As David explains in this video why id Jonah running away ? and of course in Kings we are told - Jonah was a prophet, - we have his fathers name .......and also we find the reason why he was running away
Hi Mario - it is God who chooses who will be the carrier of His messenger but you can ask God but be warned - the personal price paid by many prophets is high, with many being persecuted for their faith
27:45 not all believers who do not believe the miraculous gifts of the holy spirit for the individuals recorded in scriptures still is in operation today do not believe god still does miracles. many believe god now directly performs miracles. charismatics have dubious "tongues" which is expected of everyone when it is clear that is not what scriptures records; tongues is a real foreign language, not babbling; slain in the spirit is actual death (ananias and saphira), not just falling down; those who physically encountered the divine fall on their faces, not on their backs and the divine never touched them to make them fall; there are no authenticated acts of restoring life to the dead nor restoring sight to the blind from birth, walk to the lame from birth.
jonah means spirit , i believe he was real but jesus in the hearts of a disobedient believers till 3rd day when he come to land with men teaching follow him in obedience the way! turn away from bowing to false gods!
"The boat" symbolizes your body. The "cargo" on the boat symbolizes sin that must cut out of your life (cargo thrown over the side of the ship). And Jonah being thrown out of the boat into the water likely symbolizes the martyrdom purification water baptism ritual found in Leviticus 14 (fasting unto the death) just like Jesus fasting 40 days before being submerged in the water. In other words, You gotta dump all the cargo on the boat (stop sinning and leave your life behind) then "jump ship" (FAST and pray, facing the devil in the wilderness) Then you will die, and God will put you back into your body and you will be considered ritually pure enough to be offered up as a sacrifice. God cannot accept an unclean matter at the wedding feast. Suffering for Christ is an honor and privilege, you have to first be cleansed. Please note that This is only my interpretation of the allegory of "Jonah and the whale".
your a real bible scholar sir just step aside one moment! um hello peeps! look hows this bloke giving testament if he isnt a creep? i mean did god set a bush in fire and compel him to give testament on you tube for an hour long!
