Unlocking the Old Testament Part 23 - 1 & 2 Kings 2

  • David Pawson observes that the book of Kings begins with King Solomon who began well by asking for wisdom, so God gave him everything he didn’t ask for as well: wealth, fame and power. Solomon wanted to share his wisdom. Unfortunately, he only had wisdom for everybody else, none for himself though he wrote three books and did many good things. He built a temple for the Lord with the materials and the plans from his father, David. All the northern kings were evil. In the south, some were good. The south survived a hundred and forty years longer than the north because good kings reigned longer. They had two very good kings called Hezekiah and Josiah, but another, Manasseh, even got into Satan worship. He ordered the death of Isaiah the prophet. We see in the book of Kings the dangers of becoming mixed up in other religions, other ways of life and other moralities. And it’s happening. But the God who is the king of the universe is also our judge and sooner or later we will lose what He’s given to us unless we wake up. That’s the lesson from the book of Kings. The Bible is able to make us ‘wise unto salvation’ and avoid the terrible mistakes that God’s people of old made.

But I think I wouldn't have benefited so much without David's teaching . Someone else said that listening to Jacob was like doing a postgraduate degree. I guess David's bible series is like a B A . I thank you to the Lord who loves us so much so that we are so blessed and privileged with the Bible to know You and Your ways and wills in an easy way, maybe hard way through the experience.

    Excellent. There's a detail Mr Pawson left out in this video, but something I think makes the books of Kings special: They're the only books which tell the story of the northern kingdom of Israel. When the story is told again by Ezra in 2 Chronicles, he focuses _only_ on the southern kingdom of Judah, and leaves out Israel altogether! That's because Chronicles are _feel-good_ books! :-)

    • @DavidPawsonMinistry
      @DavidPawsonMinistry  9 місяців тому

      Hi with respect if you listen to David he is not saying we should bless pets ploughs and fishing nets - he is using this as an example of how the standards of the church have fallen
      - it’s about standing firm and not accepting the ways of the world
      The Bible no where encourages us to bless a pet - we should treat pets and the whole of nature with love and respect because they are Gods creation but listen carefully carefully to David says , he is not encouraging us to bless pets but to return to a a worship of the one and only God
      By focussing on animals and the world we are putting our focus and priorities into Gods creation…… not ‘The’ person who created ALL things The Lord Gid almighty

      Hebrew ‘Barakah’ to bless is addressed only to humanity. Animals are not part of the redemtion, they are redeemed only because Human being is redeemed. In other words Jesus dis not die for animals on the cross, thus trees and dogs and pets are not bleesed by any mean. They are respected, but not bleesed. In fact it is an anti Yahweh system. It is a pagan practice of evil world

      Yes, Jeroboam set up places of worship in the North to prevent the people from going to Jerusalem for the Holy Days. Every Northern King kept the practice and it led to their downfall.

    Just to clarify: it was not King Hezekiah that had Isaiah killed; it was actually his son, Manasseh, according to tradition, who was one of the worst kings in the history of the kings of Judah/Israel. Hezekiah was in fact a good king. Just study the Bible for yourselves to learn about the deeds of Hezekiah.

    • @DavidPawsonMinistry
      @DavidPawsonMinistry  4 місяці тому

      “According to tradition”- yes you are correct to state this however The Bible does not give us any evidence that Isaiah lived into the reign of King Manasseh, nor does it tell us what year Isaiah died or how he died.
