My journey: 1) Buy and read Myths Busted from cover to cover, and watched select CSNinja videos that applied to my project. (done) 2) No insulation in my crawl space, so I proceeded with insulating the end caps with foam board and covered my vents. (done) 3) Installed a dehumidifier and insulated the walls, partly with 1.5 inch pink wallboard partly with .5 inch w/aluminum (significant cost savings). (90% done) 4) I am currently digging a drain trench on the inside perimeter. Time consuming since I am in my early 60s and working full time, and the crawlspace is 3 section "rooms"... lots of digging. Also addressing potential water leaks by replacing old copper with Pex. Looking forward to encapsulate with proper vapor barrier and install permanent lighting. After the crawlspace is where it needs to be, I will remove the old attic insulation, seal and install blow in insulation. I REALLY appreciate your book and the videos. My Moto is: Whenever I am in a situation such as this, I alway ask myself, "What Would Michael Church Do?" :)

Michael, i notice they are permanently sealing the vents. This is different from the ‘close in winter’ open in summer that i thought you recommended. And this is the method for sealing the spaces along the joists?

If you have a dirt wet crawl space do you remove subfloor insulation, seal vents? Should I put a loose plastic barrier down as well
