Great video I want this radio but couldn't imagine where I could put it and not have it be in the way with cords dangling over everything. Right angle cat and face plate mounting high up solves all my issues with it.

Very nice mounting of the radio head. Good idea.

I ended up running the cables through the A-Pillar like you did and have them coming to the glovebox. Where did you end up putting the body of the KG-1000G? I'm looking for a good place to mount it. Debating between under the passenger seat or behind the glove box. Any pictures you have would be very helpful.

I have it mounted under the passenger seat to a bracket arb sells for their dual compressor.

Thanks for the links! Didn't think of using a 90 degree RJ45 Cable, I want to remote Mount my mic as well as was just going to use a standard cable and route it where I want, the 90 degree will definitely prevent strain on the cable.
Might snag that speaker as well!

Hi Bill, really like the install! I am copying and am trying to figure how you modified the bracket to install the back plate of the radio face? Any help would be greatly appriciated!

I made a template for 2 of the screw holes on the back of the face plate and transferred and drilled 2 new holes on the bracket center section. I then ran the two screws threw the back of the bracket through those new holes and into the back of the faceplate. If I were to do it again I would not center the faceplate instead I would move it to the far left to provide a little more room for the 90 deg CAT5 cable on the right.

Have you run into any issues with "woodpecker" noises over a transmit due to the ethernet extension you used for the mic? The mic must use some sort of DTMF tones for the various buttons on the mic. This means there's a clock signal on one pair of lines in the mic cable. On the Kenwoods, if you extend the mic cable, you will hear "woodpecker" noises from the clock signal on the pair of unshielded wires in the extension. Thanks!

I've had zero issues using the cable and coupler listed in the description. But yes I can see how that might be a problem.

When you ran the mic cable and everything, was that to the passenger side and down the grab handle? Curious if you have any pictures or video of all that too. Thanks for this video!

Yeah under the overhead plastic and down under the grab handle plastic down to the passenger kick panel. I didn't get any video of that.

Did you wire yours through the firewall grommet or to the aux port cables? Also where did you store the body? I just ordered my kg-1000g and will replicate this!

What did you use to mount the head unit. Very clean install. Looking to do something similar

I repurposed a Trigger JL overhead switch panel mount. I've posted the amazon link in the video description.
