    Fun fact.. Final Cut Pro wouldn’t let me export this video for some reason. So I actually had to use screen record and capture the audio externally then re-upload it into Final Cut Pro. How many of you noticed!? 😂

    This so important. I saw a poll on Facebook asking “would you go on vacation if you couldn’t post it on social media” over 90% of ppl said “no they wouldn’t” because they flat out felt to needed to post on social to make their coworkers, family etc jealous. Which is beyond ridiculous to me

      That's insane.
      I like taking photos of places and things and sharing it with people, but since I don't have social media, I send it in chats to my friends.
      At the end of the day, those are the people that'll care about your experiences the most.
      I used to have Instagram, but when I saw a lot of my friends doing the scroll + double tap, scroll + double tap, ad infinitum without much thought, I realized most people are on there just to stroke their ego, and I got the hell out of there.

    Whewwww that people pleasing syndrome is the devil. In the end, you will run yourself ragged for trying to please folks who don't even matter in the end. People are doing the most lol. That's the easiest way to explain it. "Life is very simple!" You're always coming through with a word! 💪🏾💪🏾 I used to get sucked into the social media stuff, but now I live a very simple and lowkey life. So peaceful.

    I agree with everything you’ve said. Recently a coworker kept throwing it in my face that she had her masters. I could’ve been had my master but to go back to school and to not have a huge financial benefit didn’t sit right with me. I came to the conclusion that this individual who was bragging about her masters was trying to make herself better then me. What I also realized is that we were both assistants, on the same level in our roles. When I realized that I was like ain’t that something. Just food for thought.

The same for certain material items. I’d rather pay for a vacation instead of a expensive bag.in the same token i’d rather have a handmade bag over whats popular. Items don’t validate me my integrity does. I feel mentally free!

    Sometimes I just have to remind myself to take a deep breath and say the words "I am enough" it's so easy to get distracted and caught up in meaningless things.. it seems like everyone is trying so hard to be something there not and things would be so much more simple if everyone could just be themselves. each new day is a blessing and the present moment is what's real because the past already happened and the future isn't guaranteed.

    You are so right. Whenever I think I want to do something extra or anything that is going to cost me money, I sit and ask myself why? Am I doing this for me, what will doing this really do for me in the long run, and do I really want to do it, or did I see some one else doing it or something similar and think maybe I can get the same happiness that they seem to achieved. It took me some time to learn this but, I’m glad I matured enough to realize that I needed to question my reasoning. It also saves you money and valuable time.

    Phd or Master's.... can't use that for a ticket into heaven. Growing up in Detroit going to school you would see your friends at the party store.... hey you got food stamps too!!!! But at school they wore Jordan's and designer outfits. I didn't try to impress anyone, I got my godwill Christmas box with jeans and a red sweatshirt, and people laughed....you have it too, lol. Never care about what people think of you, they can assume you are poor because you drive a old car, but in reality you have a good career, debt free, a place to live, and most of all happiness. Things of these world will soon pass away and you can't take them with you. In life you have to balance between work and happiness, for me being 40 yrs old I enjoy skateboarding and boxing. I have had my same car for 18 years, as an aircraft mechanic I don't need to keep up or to impress anyone. My job is to take care of my wife and family and live a life full of happiness before the Lord returns.

Because I do not want to retire working on the floor or in management. I need to be teaching younger and more energetic future nurses. I have no business being on anyone floor in my 50s and 60s. Nothing against the nurses that want that for their career, but not this nurse.

    I wish I had let go of that nonsense sooner. I didn’t wake up until my mid 30’s.
    Beware of folks selling the dream. A degree doesn’t magically turn into a lucrative position. Education is a big business. Student loans must be paid back, with interest.

      @@CoreyMJones3 if a person tells you they have a degree in something obviously it is something they love to do or wanted to do at that time. They may feel it is an important part of their character and or work ethics. For conversational purposes, if you can talk about sex, hobbies, sports, movies or cooking then why can't a person talk about their education or plans to start a business? I personally don't like football but would never criticize a friend if he wanted to talk about it. I love my friends with degrees and I don't hesitate to have a conversation with them about it. There IS a difference in personality whether you are educated or not. For example, a police officer doesn't act like a teacher with a degree in Chemistry. There are many views on this, think outside of the negative box. Educational conversations are good in my opinion.

    • @CoreyMJones3
      @CoreyMJones3  2 роки тому

      Oh yeah for sure! Education should be talked about and is important to mention. This video is specifically is outlining that everyone doesn’t pursue higher education to learn and to move up the latter. It’s to show that some people do it just because they want to look good to others. Which again, is okay. But I don’t agree with that particular reasoning behind incurring more debt. If one is going to get in more debt, it should be for the right reasons and the decision should be thought about more. But I do agree with your statement.

    Ahh man I enjoy your content but didn’t agree much with this one. I earned my master’s to make a better life for myself and it put my salary in the 6 figures. Anytime I hear a person tell someone they need to “dumb down” anything it makes me cringe. Not calling you a hater but most people who speak this way are speaking from a place of hateration. Whether people do these things for flashy, selfish or unselfish reasons let’s celebrate the fact they are doing something positive for themselves, especially in the black community.

    • @CoreyMJones3
      @CoreyMJones3  2 роки тому +2

      I hear ya! That just mean you’re doing it for the right reasons. I’m happy for anyone who do these things whether it’s for flashy or selfish reasons. The goal is to help someone make a better decision. It’s pointless to go into debt just for something to be flashy or doing things just because everyone else is doing it 💯💯

    • @Spirit-Survival365
      @Spirit-Survival365 2 роки тому +1

      I agree Pisces Pisces. I don't think anyone ever attended college for 4 or 6 long years just to impress a "bum" or "someone who is confused with their own life goals." Most if not all people graduated from college because #1 they were smart enough to do it and #2 They improved their own life by pursuing their own dreams. The hateration from people without a degree is real. Education debt is better than credit card and auto debt or bad credit so people should mind their own business and pay their own bills.
