Man, it's crazy to realize how genius the School's Out musical is. It utilizes multiple elements that were prevelant throughout the entire Fairly Oddparents series up to that point to structure its plot instead of just pulling random new stuff. The Pixies as big antagonists after they've been established as the corporate not-fun mirrors of Fairies, Flappy Bob whose "fun camp" was a plot point for several other episodes, the Kids vs Adults mentality that ran through the entire show, and Timmy's habit of acting/wishing before he thinks and learning from his mistake in time to turn it all around. All wrapped up with rediculously catchy musical numbers that are hard to get out of your head.
Even better because the first song shows his impressive range. From a deep voice to reflect his serious lawyer side, and the bouncy wavering voice to reflect the clown he is on the inside.
as a child, I always related to timmy, but now as a young adult, I really understand what flappy is going through. also, mixing a rock balad for timmy and rap for the pixies, never realized how genius is was
I love how every song in this musical has something actually happening. It's not just "random song about feelings", each of these songs are moving the plot along.
It’s crazy to think this Nickelodeon movie is pretty old... It’s crazy and sad how fast time flies by. Also when the choir picks up in this song near the end, man the feels.
Instrumentally, this song is really powerful. It's one of the best songs i've ever heard tbh. Constant rhythm variations fit so well along the lyrics. What a great cartoon it used to be
“Maybe you’re right; could be a giant mistake. But changing my life’s a risk I’m not ready to take... Now I choose, to wish for a world where I’m safe,” Regardless of the context, those lines are pretty relatable. Having your entire world-view challenged and just wanting to feel safe and in control of your life.
I really wouldn't listen to Timmy, he'd acted like a spoiled brat for most of the intro, and torn apart Flappy's entire world literally just for kicks, I wouldn;t have listened to him, myself.
Why is no one talking about Pull Back the Fairies? I mean Jorgen Jorgen Von Strangle singing a fucking dope polka while the Pixies backup singing YES PLEASE!
As I got order I realize this song was about choosing family who groomed you to be a pawn to them or being a hero to people who sabotaged everything you believed in
I love how Timmy accepts the fact that he was wrong about what he did but in the end he really want's Flappy to make the best choice for himself rather than for the people who raised him a certain way.
When your realize that flappy Bob removing his clown costume insinuates the transition from young adult to full fledged "adult". No more childish pass times and only full on responsibility.
It's absurd how much effort that was put into this one song. Edit: I HEARD A F*CKING ORGAN IN THERE!!! They went out of their way to get an ORGAN for this song! For a musical kid's show special no less!
Wow, holy shit this is a nostalgia slap in the face, but in a good way. Damn, I remember this show actually having continuity, almost to the level of Futurama, very damn good show.. what happened to it?
I always loved Fairly OddParents (until a little after Poof was introduced), but damn, it's only now that I realize how fucking great the songs this show has are.
This is song along the series itself at its best years are a nice example of how to make a show to everyone, a series which has something that everyone could relate, fun and simple stuff to kids and some deeper stuff that only experience allows you to understand, so everyone got a taste of enjoy. When I was a child I just knew Bob got some kind of brainwash, but nowadays, sure he was manipulated, but what he said and felt puts you in a mood; you could have experience what Bob lived and just like him, choose a world where you are safe.
how is it all invalid? i mean i agree with puppyhowler i have yet to see a female pixie. and they even said 'raised you as though you were OUR son' there fore they basically came out as a gay couple
how do you know they isn't any gay couples? we never see females and from what we SAW there weren't any. we don't KNOW if there are any gay couples. how can you be 100% sure? your argument is totally pulled out of your ass. you're probably just some homophobe who doesn't want to even have a small inkling that their childhood show had a gay couple in it.
I haven't seen it in years but Fairly Oddparents will always be one of my favorite cartoons, I would love to introduce my children to it if I have any. Even as a child I saw how sad this movie's plot was. They manipulated Flappy under the guise of raising him, & he was so confused.
In my opinion "Can't you see in your heart?" and "But how do your (clowny) parents feel about the path you chose" Just hit me so hard, this is literally a song in a kids show and yet hearing these two lyrics really seem to just get to me in the feels, am I the only one?
each of these songs kicks ass but this one has got to be the best. The instrumentals and the lyrics just blend seamlessly like it would take five seconds to write the whole thing together. I could sing this one in my sleep! Butch Hartman and his writers are geniuses!
I love this song, because its so relevant to me. I am torn between what i consider fun and what my friends consider as fun (ill let you fill in the blanks here). Everytime i suggest something i think is fun, they shoot it down. Now I feel like i was just a pawn to fuel their fun. Now, like flappy bob, im at a crossroad: Put up my clowny shoes and nose, or escape before its too late.
Yeah, sorta, but at the same time I keep finding myself come back. My friend actual felt the same way as far as our hangouts, I think the "fun " we do is harmless. But I get so much hate from partaking. I know I'm not that kinda guy, but it relaxes me damnit why can't my parents see that...
Hello! I know this is even later! But I totally get you! When I think about the moral of this;; It means to do what you love, despite what everyone else is telling you. Only you know what you really want!
This song instantly resonated with me when it came out because I too have experiences with doing things that cause people to perceive me as an enemy right before I try to give them advice or help them in some way, then watch them make horrible horrible mistakes that were completely preventable.
my god... the lawyer beauracrats HP and SANDERSon...who not only operate lucrative businesses, but seedier affairs such as dance clubs and rap music... subverting flappy bob (the american spirit) since the 1960s. THE PIECES ARE ALL FALLING INTO PLACE!
This is one of my favorite songs from the movie. I remember seeing this premiere when I was finishing third grade in 2005. I remember taping it that night as well. I miss the old FOP!

Flappy's performance really stands out here. You can hear the fear and conflict. Wanting to change but being too afraid to do so.
Even better because the first song shows his impressive range. From a deep voice to reflect his serious lawyer side, and the bouncy wavering voice to reflect the clown he is on the inside.
as a child, I always related to timmy, but now as a young adult, I really understand what flappy is going through. also, mixing a rock balad for timmy and rap for the pixies, never realized how genius is was
Adding a rock ballad and Method Man and Redman rapping...
*AWESOMENESS!*
Oof imagine, how hard it hits when in spanish flappy says: "i dont want to be a clown, much less a failure. I want the world to know that here i rule"

Even the love song between Cosmo and Wanda. It was a distraction for Jorgen Von Strangle so Cosmo could get the handcuff keys.

This song hit me hard, even back when I was 8
CJCroen1393 Yep
Joe Man same
This song reminds me about Greta and the whole climate change stuff. Greta is Flappy Bob and The Pixies Is the government

Jake yancey tbh, I would pay big bucks to see this as a broadway musical.

have to admit, hearing this song again, it seems rather deep for your typical kids show. (Which I have no issue with)
