My man as a Marcher from Marcus I have to say we are not underrated.. We are multi time Grand National Finalist Bronze Medaled state this year we are not underrated.
welp as a Wando trombonist, we should've made finals that year...... We ended up figuring out that a visual judge PURPOSELY gave us a low score, he ended up getting fired....
Wait what? Majority of these bands are NOT underrated lol.. Tarpon is literally a GN champ and if not top 5 every time they go to GN they're top 10 100% of the time they go. All these TX bands are well known, Wando is well known, I mean the only band on this list I haven't heard of or haven't heard talked about in the past is American Fork. I was thinking I'd hear about some bands from New York or New Jersey, maybe even California (I don't think I've ever heard of a high school band from CA mentioned anywhere), do any bands pop off in Alabama? is there anything interesting going on in North Dakota?
Honestly, vista ridge is very underrated. Here in Texas, it's spoken about so much- I wish I could go to vista ridge :(. I didn't get to see them perform since our show was before theirs. But ahh they're so talented-. Also, your band did amazing :). I could never imagine going to freaking nationals- like what? When my school went against reagan (for football), their band was at freaking nationals- now AHHHH that got me jealous ngl.
as a vista kid this made me happy lol. our season was a massive struggle. getting told we fell off and that we were undeserving of reward stunk. idk if i would say we were underrated just cause we made nats finals but…underrated as a finalist band 100%
@@susanlivitz850 omg!! I really loved y'alls show. I really wish I could just move to vista ridge. But y'all did pretty amazing! One of the best marching band things I've ever seen!
I watched Tarpon Springs perform at the comp in this video. We just so happened to be the band that performed directly after them, safe to say we didn’t win.
I got to see this tarpon show in person at tarpon springs outdoor music festival this past season and it was amazing. They always host a great competition.
From an American Fork marcher, we aren’t underrated here in Utah but not super well known across the nation, but we’re hoping to change that soon… we do plan on competing at gran nats this year and we’re all excited to watch and meet other bands across the country!
Coming from a band that is HIGHLY underrated (not going to say which one lol) our show in 2021 got us in the top 20 at grand nationals and we’re looking to FINALLY make finals this year. All of these bands are AMAZING and they deserve credit for their performances and most of them have a massive reputation for being in finals and being high scoring bands so I don’t think they’re overrated
I came here hoping to see bands that don't attend BOA let alone make finals. With the exception of Rouse, I've heard of all these schools and have known them to be higher finishing groups. Sadly disappointed. Also maybe include bands under 100 members? They get robbed of love a fair bit and have some of the best quality out there without quantity
I 100% agree with Rouse, they’re always overshadowed by Cedar Park. Cedar Park however is not underrated lol, they’re literally 4-consecutive-time Texas state champs…
My band Desoto Central High School our show was called Mad Whirled if you wanna check it out but we performed right after wando but our band isn’t very well know maybe in Mississippi
You should put some more of the Illinois schools one here like O'Fallon and some others like my school who placed 2nd and 3rd against them multiple times. But do whatever you like.
If James F. Byrnes isn’t on the list, it isn’t legit 💁🏻♀️ They’re so underrated. Many haven’t heard of them because they aren’t as well known as Tarpon or Hebron, etc. but they always put on an amazing show. Can’t wait to see all the bands in Indy this year!
I'm not from any of these schools, but I don't vista, marcus, or the cedar schools are waaaaaaayyyyyyyy underated, it's honestly crazy how they don't get enough recognition. I was also surprised vandy isn't on here cuz they are definitely the most underrated out of all high school bands.
My dude Marcus is **not** underrated and I am from Marcus I march Sousa. I can tell you we are not. Multi Time Grand National finalist. State Bronze Medalist as well. Multi Time State Championships. Everyone knows who we are as well. Trust me we are not underrated.
these bands are all wonderful but just about none of them are underrated- all the texas bands you listed place at UIL and state contests pretty much every year they compete and most of them have been state finalists
This year SRHS is giving tarpon a run for their money at BOA. Pride of SR sounding real good, way better than last year. We're here to win it go sharks!
You should check out William j Brennans 2021 program entitled all for naught we may not be the best band but our show surprised a lot of judges this past year
as a carmel student, who is in state/county rivals with fishers in almost everything, fishers completely robbed. there where robbed of grand nat finals this year and 2019. i am a firm believer that if they went after any other band (went after broken arrow) in semi-finals they would have edged out 12th or 11th. i’m sure if you asked a avon kid they would agree with me that they are grand nat final caliber
Only three bands east of the Mississippi, and only one north of the Ohio?!? So, what are you saying?!? This COULD come across as a bias against bands from New England and the Mid-Atlantic states ... or maybe bias against bands that don't have OODLES of cash flowing ... some of the BEST performances are from bands who rely on THE PERFORMERS to breathe life into a show, NOT on backdrops and props and stages and miles & miles of electronics ... Even if that isn't what you are saying, the message that many performers will hear is what many hear within their own districts -- 'Who cares?!?" Remember -- BOA is NOT the only game in town ...
Some of these are not underrated at all. The issue is that there are a lot of large schools in Texas that are VERY good. So there are only a couple of spots and as of the last few years Vandergrift and Hebren seem to be sweeping the winnings. Both schools have won state marching and state honor band for the wind ensemble. I dont think I ever recall a band doing that in a relatively short 1-2 year people of time
Nah I don’t agree with CPHS. They are the best 5a band in the state of texas and currently ranked in the top 10 nationally for a marching band. Love the respect those gu
I will die on this hill: Hebron is the most underrated high school marching band. Sure, they're ranked 1 or 2, but I still don't think people understand how talented that band was. They play technically, lyrically, full of impact, and with SONORITY that you simply cannot find anywhere else on a football field. I was astounded by them in 2019, even more so in 2021. I am an Indiana band homer who has fallen madly in love with Hebron.
Yes their show was absolutely incredible this year, but,.. no. Also I would have been absolutely crucified if I put them here. I already did for putting Marcus, William Mason, and Blue Springs, Imagine the comments if I put Hebron

Nothing like walking off the field and through the stadiums hallways and hearing the sound of Tarpon performing, knowing they're winning everything.
