Electrocapacitive for this board means that the pcb senses the voltage for how for compressed the spring over it is. That means it will have an actuation point before the bottom up, similar to MX style switches, while membrane board use a contact pad under a silicone dome to contact the membrane sheet to register a key at the bottom out. One advantage to niz/topre is that you can change the actuation point of the switch like hall effect switches.
i am considering getting this rather than a mech because i will be moving into a dorm this year and i don't want my roommate to hate me lol. i was going to chose this over building a low end custom with silent tactiles because so many people rave about the unique feeling of the switches on this board.
It's definitely unique but it's really light so it can take some getting used to. If you ever have the cash though I think U4 Bobas are really good mechanical alternatives to Topre (clones) Hope you end up with a good board either way!
good choice! a lot of people are too focused on super budget customs that they ignore the fact that boards like this can beat out their cheap customs in build quality, sound, and feel
thx for the review - Canada must be similar to Australia (OZ) with mechanical keyboard pricing - anything with any quality costs a small fortune here...
Does it still light up the Button when you’re in the custom profile. I had a Niz a few years ago and it annoyed me how the profile button always had to be lit up.
?? They're just Costar stabilizers, not super common but they're an alternative style of stabilizer. They're compatible with MX caps. You just need to either align keycap properly and/or fit the stabilizer stems in the cap first.
Thanks! The wrist rest is an Orca wrist rest. They had them on Drop for a bit for int'l shipping but if you're in the US you should be able to get it off Etsy.

beautiful review!
Liked the review a lot. Do you recommend getting the Niz numpad, too?
Don't have experience with their other products unfortunately so I can't really say :p

It doesn't. The tilde key will light up for a few seconds but after that there's no light indicating which profile you're in.
How did you change the dpacebar and other keys on stab pls?

@@NaoKeysVT so, this means my usual mx keycaps might not fit to this costar stab, right?
@@kaykayu4572 no they will work with mx style keycaps
can it support a double sleeved custom cable?
Probably can't really say for all cables, but mine has both the paracord and techflex layers and it fits like it's made for the board.
@@NaoKeysVT good to know! I'm going to buy one soon. Thinking if I should go with blutooth or just the wired one.
Your keycaps do not look stock at all. I had very different ones with grey mods.
