He’s my favorite channel as well. One issue I have is the “so matter of fact” that it’s not alien. You can’t be unbiased saying with such confidence what something isn’t especially when this is an hypothesis.
Same; and I wholeheartedly believe there's alien life out there, that some species out there, at some point, maybe even right now, has/had the ability to travel the stars, etc.. but sensationalizing shit and all that just for clicks, is just annoying. I believe we will find signs that one day hopefully, in the near future, but unless people can eliminate pretty much any other explainable possibility, I don't want to hear about it. Media literacy being worse than it's ever been, I hate seeing all that sensationalized clickbait bulshit online, because you know hundreds, thousands, even hundreds of thousands of people are going to see that shit and believe it, without question, completely ignoring the science / physics or whatever behind it. Anytime I see some video /article talking about something like this, especially hinting it could be aliens or you know, whatever else like that, I often think, "ok, let's see what Anton has to say on this, first, before I get too excited..". I understand wanting to believe in some of this stuff, I'm right there with a lot of people, but again, unless you can prove to me otherwise that there's no other reasonable explanation, I don't want to hear about it. They haven't seen or heard our radio signals at any significant distance yet. There is no reason to believe that they would be trying to get our attention yet imo.

54 mins feels more like orbital period, not rotational. It might be a neutron star crossing a gaseous (accretion?) disk of another object (NS of black hole), or might be a neutron star on an elliptic orbit around a normal star, coming close enough to disrupt outer layers of the companion (and use them as a source for bursts) only once per orbit. If it's orbital period, we will eventually detect it getting steadily a tiny, tiny bit smaller.

My amateur guess is that it's a neutron star that's spinning at milliseconds speeds BUT also has a wobble in the polar angle of the magnetic field's rotation axis that is different from the physical rotation's axis. I reckon that the reason why the two axis could be different is that the neutron material the star is made of is NOT a solid but instead a really thick slushy hypercompressed gas or liquid. So it's rotational axis could shift over time so the polar jets could be pointing at us every 54 mins and the character could vary depending on exactly how it is pointed at us.

Could it be that the pulsar _is_ actually spinning fast but the timing happens to be that the radio bursts only point at us every 54 minutes? Probably not but the thought occurred to me.
Hey, Anton. Are there any studies using radio signals which have been stretched due to gravitational lensing? I know looking at visible light stretched in this way can give more detailed information. I don't think I've heard of gravitationally stretched radio waves helping to solve some astronomical mystery.

Long pulse, short pulse, no pulse every 54 minutes. I wonder if anyone has ever looked at a series of these pulses through the lense of Morris Code. Highly unlikely that there's an intelligent message in there, but stranger things have happened. Great video, cheers!

54 mins feels more like orbital period, not rotational. It might be a neutron star crossing a gaseous (accretion?) disk of another object (NS of black hole), or might be a neutron star on an elliptic orbit around a normal star, coming close enough to disrupt outer layers of the companion (and use them as a source for bursts) only once per orbit.
If it's orbital period, we will eventually detect it getting steadily a tiny, tiny bit smaller.
Or it could be a pulsar orbiting a black hole. It's energy output could be affected or absorbed completely as it goes behind the black hole.

it's actually incredible how little astronomers actually understand what's going on out there.
It's because the worm hole only flashes this size and intensity when the JemHadar fleet is jumping thru. The small little flashes are Captain James T Kirk chasing some wild poontang across the galaxy.

Have you ever done a show on "Transient Luna Phenomena", also known as "TLP"? I'd be interested to know if there are any new ideas on it's cause. I have seen it myself, on two different occasions, when viewing the moon with a large pair of binoculars. Thanks for creating such interesting shows.

My amateur guess is that it's a neutron star that's spinning at milliseconds speeds BUT also has a wobble in the polar angle of the magnetic field's rotation axis that is different from the physical rotation's axis.
I reckon that the reason why the two axis could be different is that the neutron material the star is made of is NOT a solid but instead a really thick slushy hypercompressed gas or liquid. So it's rotational axis could shift over time so the polar jets could be pointing at us every 54 mins and the character could vary depending on exactly how it is pointed at us.
