- This Video shows the Ghostbuster TV Themes and also an unaired Real Ghostbuster promo. We atart off with a Live Action show called "The Ghost Busters" Aired in1975.
I loved Extreme Ghostbusters.
Totally, they should’ve made an actual movie of that version; considering Dan Aykroyd had so many ideas of making a 3rd one.
I used to love the 1986 version
The nostalgia is too much. I can still imagine playing this song on a jukebox as a child.
Actually, Filmation originally intended to make a cartoon version of the 1984 movie, but Columbia decided to go with DiC instead, so Filmation decided to make their own cartoon based on the orinal characters they already owned (Spencer, Tracey, Kong, Jake and Eddie). It aired before the DiC cartoons aired, so it became known as simply "Ghostbusters" and the DiC series had to be named "The Real Ghostbusters".
There was also a shot fired when Janine from RGB answered this to a caller, "No ma'am... This is the REAL Ghostbusters." lol
R/murderedbywords
Way I first heard it, kids felt scammed when their parents got them toys for the Filmation Ghost Busters, often complaining "I wanted the REAL Ghostbusters!" Thus, when DiC set to air their cartoon, they picked that for the title.
Anyway, probably not true, but a great story!
Isinia Mosienko If you put the theme tune to the 1984 Ghostbusters to the Filmation Cartoon intro, they sync up perfectly
Also wit the "Real" added on, the studio wouldn't have to bend over to make the characters look like the actual actors, with licensing their likenesses and all.
dude that promo kicked ass. i liked how they were wearing the beige jumpsuits. awesome. thanks a lot man.
The promo seriously looks like the most insane anime ever.
That last pilot gave me chills.
6:30 I love how Derpy the Ghost looks in this version of the logo
Slimer & the Real Ghostbusters sure could have done with a whole lot less Slimer.
AGREED. Re-tooling the show as "Slimer! AND the Real Ghostbusters", IMO, and writing in more on a elementary-school-age level, really cheapened the show. At that point, it was more a thirty-minute commercial for Kenner toys.
I respect all the ghostbusters because it's people like them who help me not be afraid of ghost monsters and demons. good video! 10/10
Way to go.😎
@@ameliawarfield5637 "we be fast, and THEY BE SLOW!!"- Ghostbusters 2
@@bakionigeri6414 That's right.
the unaired promo looks bad ass!!!
After the success of the 1984 movie Ghostbusters had it's own cartoon series called The Real Ghostbusters and quickly became a fan favorite of many 80's kids. In fact it was so popular that Kenner released an action figure set complete with a stuffed Marshmellow Man and the famous Ghostbusters car and the character Slimer also became popular launching a drink in the Hi-C fruit juice series called Ecto-Cooler. The Real Ghostbusters also had holiday themed episodes in the series as well. In 1988, the start of the fourth season, the series was part of a one-hour block of Ghostbusters cartoons (it was joined with the newly created "Slimer!" series) known as "Slimer! And The Real Ghostbusters." This title would stick with the series to its very end (season seven in 1991). The title change also rippled through the marketing of the show in toys, cereal, and Ecto-Cooler Hi-C drink. All of these products changed their logos from "The Real Ghostbusters" to "Slimer & The Real Ghostbusters". In the 90's The Real Ghostbusters was brought back in a new cartoon series called Extreme Ghostbusters in the late 90's.
My boys had the "Proton Packs", traps, and other Kenner-made RBG merch.
Bustin makes me feel good.
You know you've got it bad when you're chased by your own logo
Yup, it's true.
Dreamworks Animation now has the rights to all Filmation properties, includiong both Filmation Ghostbusters shows, after purchasing Classic Media last year. Maybe Sony and IDW Comics could have Dreamworks license the Filmation GB's for a Justice League-esque storyline...
You the filmation one has had many cameos in the Ghostbusters comic by IDW. A Halloween one shot tail someone that was gonna hire them mentioned Tracy, later Janine and her boyfriend (looks like a buff RGB Egon) are watching TV and we see a still with the rat thing from filmation. I only forget if the filmation crew was in a big crossover story or not.
1980s one kicked ass and took names! Real heroes!
Ghostbusters may have stolen their title from Filmation & stolen their theme song from Huey Lewis & the News, but it proved that it's not about who did it first but who did it best.
I enjoyed the Real Ghostbusters cartoon series. That was an awesome video of the evolution of the Ghostbusters!! You guys did a wonderful job.👻⭐🌈🦄🏆👑🦊😎🤩
06:52 - It has a gunner's seat?!
Based on the toy, yeah.
Excellent work, my friend!!!
everybody loves the 1986 versión
Extreme Ghostbusters was by the same animation team that did the awesome Men & Black animated series, even though the art style was cringy & offputting.
And Godzilla and big guy and rusty
In the promo at the end, they said it was almost perfect for the animated series. The actors from the movie liked it but Bill Murray wanted Peter's appearance changed because he said that Peter still looked too much like him. So Peter's face was made a little thinner and his hairdo was changed. In the animated series, the characters' appearances are supposed to based on their personalities not on who played them in the movie.
Uh....no. when they tested the show they said it was hard to tell the Ghostbusters apart which is why they changed the colors of each individual GB. Also, the SHOW CREATORS changed the appearance of Peter and Egon to avoid lawsuits of their likeness. Bill Murray had nothing to do with it.
It may also have been that DIC wanted the characters to have their own identity, distinct from the 1984 movie.
Wow, the unaired promo looked crazy. I see they had the same coloured suits instead of the varied colours they had on the show and Slimer was a bad ghost like in the first movie. :)
I must admit that was funny when Slimer reached out to grab his hot dog.😆
@DoodleGamer-123 🤣🤣🤣
Somebody in Chicago slipped up. I remember seeing the unaired one. Or at least snippets of it. 👀 definitely recall as a kid.
i agree. someone messed up because i remember seeing this in LA tv
9:29 to 9:31 I love the way the ghosts just changes a bit I dont know why?
I love how they zoom pan the Ghostbusters title at the end.
Lo mejor de las caricaturas en aquellos tiempos como estas ningunas 👍👍
The first intro Pilot was the best with superb anime touch
The first two make me think of Hanna Barbera, Filmation name be damned.
@darkside707 Weird. I also remember a Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters show with Luigi and I think the cat was named Max and the animation is waaay more cartoony and the stories were simple slapstick Looney Toons style affair. Am I just insane or did that happen? Probably only 5 when that aired so I could be wrong. I also recall episodes of the regular cartoon that featured "Junior Ghostbusters" who were kids who idolized the Real Ghostbusters and even had their own gear and befriended Slimer.
이게 바로 고스트 버스터즈의 역사다
Huh. You learn something new everyday huh
Nice
Ghostbusters forever
The show ran from September 13, 1986 until October 5, 1991 totaling 140 episodes when it finished up under the title of Slimer! and the Real Ghostbusters and reran until September 5, 1992.
Yo, the unreleased Real Ghostbusters theme is lit.
The Slimer version sounds like an old computer game.
“Never seen before promo”? lol I remember this entrance theme. lol
Slimer ended up being as annoying as Scrappy Doo! Great stuff. That promo was excellent!
True. They made him a star because kids were getting attached to the character, and it ended up being a hit-or-miss among the fandom, since the Slimer cartoons were more of a comedy.
I hate scrappy.
Filmations ghostbusters is my all time fav.
Slimer - ghost of John Belushi 😂
That was the inside joke, although later on it's fairly much RGB "canon" that Slimer is the ghost of some kid.
Why did the unaired promo look so much more entertaining than that actual show!?
That's because it was only 3 minutes 40 seconds long. It would be impossible to maintain that quality of animation for every single 20 minute episode. Although they did reuse some of the promo for the Real Ghostbusters intro sequence.
rouge: Yeah. Since the 1984 feature film and its sequel elipsed the cornball Filmation cartoon based on the old TV series by leaps and bounds (thanks to the Ray Parker Jr. song sung in the film that was sung by John Smith in the cartoon), the series with Slimer, Peter, Egon, Ray, Winston, and Janine earned the title The REAL Ghostbusters.
TherealRNO It Didn't EARN the title; DIC chose the title to make it distinct from the Filmation series
@@carlosalmonacid8958 Yes, but Filmation only made the cartoon version of their struggling live-action 1970's show in response to the 1984 Ackroyd-Ramis film (and its sequel) being a massive hit & trying to piggyback off of the increasing popularity of the brand. RGB, then, was made due to the 1984 film's success, to actively counter Filmation's animated series & shill the imminent Kenner toy line. As most fans are aware, "Slimer! and..." was the butchered Dave Couiler seasons of RGB spotlighting the annoyingly lovable green spud, whom network executives shoehorned deeper into the series, thus diluting it. The 90's version was...well...an "eXTREME" modernized take on the property with next generation kids (including the legitimately first female GB, not counting secretary Janine, of course) taking up the mantle. The 2016 film was a disasterous feminazi endeavor to try & completely devalue all of the non-politically-correct cheeky humor of the initially all-dude (the "eXTREME" continuation with a girl GB included, notwithstanding) ensemble by gender-bending everything, making all of the men opposite the all-female foursome either inept dunderheads ala the Mayor, unlikeable twats like Walter Peck, or sychophantic masochists like male Janine equivalent, Kevin. Hopefully, the forthcoming reboot returns things back to status quo, but if not, at least there was the decent videogame put out before Egon literally became a ghost once Ramis passed away.
@@TherealRNOwwfpooh Pity. Lou Scheimer et al of Filmation could and did put out some damned fine work, but often they chose to be "cheap and easy". About what I'd expect from Scheimer and his people.
i didn't remember the extreme ghost busters e.e
Me either so I tracked down the episodes and just finished watching the whole series.
Thats weird, I have VHS tapes of the intro to Slimer and The Real Ghostbusters using the regular song played in The Real Ghostbusters intro, and not the remix from this montage.
Filmation version and real Ghostbusters I watched, would love to watch the rest, seeing the lonesome ghost of Disney I wander who's the original
where is that transition music from? Sounds like a ska-rock version.
Awesome thanks so much however I love Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters better than the 70s version.
I was thinking what if The Real Ghostbusters has an episode called "Logo Trouble" that would be cool like the Logo was possessed by an evil ghost and it come to life and became evil and try to make a mess on new york city like haunting other people in house,Terrorizing people on anywhere and The Ghostbusters trying to catch him they just caught him when he was on big house of a rich man named Richard Woods (i invented the name) and they see him Egon told him that his fun was over he must be surrender or else and for their suprise the logo can talk and it sounded like a friendly ghost and he acts like he was a good like apologizing for making a mess and beg the Ghostbusters not to bust him he was acting cute and they fell into his trap and Winston said how cute he is and Ray said "Fine we give you a second chance all beacause you we're cute"..And the Logo (aka The Evil Reaper) said "Oh,oh really?? You think i was cute.." he was acting like a child "Yeah.." Winston said with an adorably smile"Well if you really think that...Are this cute enough!" He said while he used a telekenesis on Ghostbusters causing the Ghostbusters to fly high up in air but they quickly got up a but the Logo was so fast he used the his energy power and attack the Ghostbusters while laughing evily and the Ghostbusters really got in trouble later they found what his weakness his weakness was to use an enough energy to the guns to reveal his true form and try to shine it with the light and after that he got burn and try to put him inside to the Ghosttrap and they got victory and the others who got messed up with Evil Reaper thank them
Having to blast Ecto when was got possessed was enough I think.
Interesting that the unused promo has a nasty Slimer like the first film (he helps out in Ghostbusters II which is I presume a result of the cartoons), in the final show credits he is replaced with a blue angry ghost.
1975 Ghost Busters has nothing to do with the actual Ghostbusters
Ken Mabie I Agree
Filmation wanted to do a cartoon based on the 1984 movie but universe studios went with a different company so they just made a cartoon based of the 1975 show.
It inspired the creation of the movie. Even was stated on the extras. So it actually does.
@@J_Lee712 no it actually didn't end no it wasn't
@@KenMabieYes it did. Columbia/Tri-Star had to pay Filmation for the use of the GHOSTBUSTERS name.
Wait so the ape was used to be part of the Ghostbusters team????
The original team of the 70s live action and filmation cartoon yes. If read IDW Ghostbusters book. They do exist in same reality as another team.
Filmations carton version was my fav of all time.
70's --> Worst
80's, 90's, 2016 & 2021 --> Best
what was the cover version that plays before each intro
Attaboy Skip
B r ing extreme ghostbusters back! I have ideas!
There's should be a Justice League-style of Ghostbusters
A multiverse tale you mean? It exists from IDW.
Kiley’s voice actress is so Toxic over on Twitter
Why is the music out of time with the newer promos?
in that unaired promo the ghost busters are wearing the same suits than in the first movie, and part of the second one.....
Think about. Citizen Ghost could tie into that as well.
WHY DID THE CALL THE CARTOON AT BEING OF THE VIDEO GHOSTBUSTERS
I think the last theme was based upon the first movie Right?
Yes it was.
I have seen the real ghostbusters promo
Ai love ghosbusters is funny klasic cartoon
My intro to Ghostbusters was Extreme Ghostbusters. Every other adaptation live action or animated since then never impressed me as much. It was dark. I hope they do a live action for XGB.
how did GB '75 NOT sue Columbia Pictures?
Columbia BOUGHT the rights to make the film, but chose not to reprise the characters.

Best f*ckin intro.
The first one looks ridiculous
Seriously why is there talking ape
OK I did the research the first Ghostbusters cartoon was made by a different director so it is not a part of the actual Ghostbusters brand and when they try to make the Ghostbusters movie they ask permission to use the old cartoons name
The 1970s was an awkward period for kids shows. There were alot of these weird cheap to produce live action shows. Also for some reason between the 60s and 70s there was this trend to stick monkeys and apes in alot of stuff.
,.."""'Locarno"...my
I like the mainstream guys as much as the next nerd, but I think the original show got robbed.
Jaden Von Bat Nope, they got a big cash settlement (which they used to make their own GB cartoon) and in return Columbia were allowed to keep using the Ghostbusters name. It enabled Filmation to revive one of their dead properties, and they got a ton of free publicity by piggybacking off the success of the movie, so it was a win-win for everybody.
THEY ARE NOT GHOSTBUSTERS
Yes it is. The live action 70s series was rhe first which the 86 toon is a sequel. It also inspired the live action movies and in the IDW comics exists in that universe as well. It all ties together.
worst series from those two 😡
1975 is best Ghostbusters
Did the movie have a gorilla? No
