Aykroyd and Co had a challenge acquiring the right to use the name Ghostbusters because Filmation - owned by Universal Pictures - had copyright and it was only by a Columbia exec that had greenlit the Aykroyd movie going to work for Universal that it came to pass. Filmation then approached Columbia Pictures about an animated adventure of the big screen Ghostbusters. Columbia went “ha hah no” and hired DiC for their cartoon series, so Filmation mined their 1975 live action children’s show to create this competing Ghost Busters cartoon.
It definitely deserves to have its own live action movie which is the reason why I'm writing a script for a live action version of this ghostbusters cartoon

At least when the real Ghostbusters put a ghost in the containment unit, it's permanent (Except for rare incidents where the unit get blown up) The Filmation Ghostbusters are just kicking the problem down the line, like locking Prime Evil in the vault and just hoping that no one will open it up, which is what happened. Look, if people like the Filmation Ghostbusters, that's fine. But I just can't get into them. Still better than the 2016 movie.

Do you know that the actress who played Jessica on the Ghostbusters also played Stormer on Jem?. Also she played Film Flam on the 13 ghosts of Scooby Doo. In fact, Susan Blue also played Arcee on the The Transformers.

The Missing Link was a ghost . So how could those rocks have trapped him? The same with Prime Evil. How could he being a ghost get trapped in a Vault for all of them years Never understood how Prime Evil could not just go through the wall or blast his way out of the vault.
This would've worked as a standalone movie, but the series was awesome in its own right as well. We already knew Prime Evil would escape since he did it before, unless Belfry's being in the present now changed the future. But that's for another time. :)

I don't know why people picked the "Real" Ghost Busters over Filmation's version. Filmation"s version has far more original characters and way better stories. While Mysteria looks Morticia from the Adam's Family Apparitia looks like Elvira from the 1943 British movie Blithe Spirit. If you see the movie you will notice how much they looked alike. Futura was originally supposed to be a Black woman. If they ever made a new series I hope they have both the original one and the Black version. Better yet add a Blonde Bikini babe version.
I don’t know why Paul Feig didn’t develop and direct Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy as genderflipped Jake and Eddie in a reboot of this property aimed squarely at children.

My friends and I loved watching Ghostbusters Monday through Saturday mornings.
I remember when I was a little girl I would watch this and other cartoons with my mamaw and mama at our store on WGN out of Chicago.

I still have the 1st volume on dvd but sadly not the 2nd part. Still love this show.
