I literally just had a comment where I explained the reason why Dev made his initial comment about Corey(to be contrarian). Being he isn't actively going to change this contrarian aspect of his nature, the apology means nothing as the same issues will occur again as they have occurred before.

The incident serves as yet another example of why you shouldn't trust a single company to oversee an essential service, and why having physical backups is a must

Crowdsrike is big in commercial malware protection. University of Washington (where my wife is a scientist) uses it. Fortunately Tom's Hardware had a fix and I walked my wife through it for her work PC as their IT department is over-whelmed. The University is down. The medical school is down. The Hospital is down. It's a nightmare.

You're criticism of our collective over-reliance of the Windows OS absolutely has merit, and honestly I still don't understand how they don't qualify as a monopoly even today (much less back in the 90s when there were the attempts to break MS up), but this particular instance wasn't really Windows/MS' fault, but that of Crowdstrike. They were the ones that put out that broken update to their services out that bricked _millions_ of devices.

Legally it will almost certainly turn out to have been Crowdstrike's fault. But the underlying cause will have been taking shortcuts all over the "cloud ecosystem" to increase profits. If they can blame Crowdstrike they won't fix it.

Just got home after flying back from Orlando to Detroit. Waited in line a total of 5 hours to get to my terminal. Flight was delayed 3 times and tons of people in line for cancellations. Still saw a lot of blue screens too. It was so insane we almost didn’t make our 2 hour delayed flight
