If new movies were any good, they would be worth paying for. I have seen two new Hollywood films in theaters in the last 12 months. Two. One was about a black reggae singer who died in his 30s. The other was about a plumber from Brooklyn whose best friend is a pizza topping.

@LewtenantZen They disarmed something else more important: personal thoughts, and consequently critical thinking. If you cannot even ask yourself questions, you are at the mercy of those who make the call, like a meat puppet.

Did hollywood sue Siskel and Ebert when they gave horrible reviews? Critical Drinker is just a modern critic who instead of writing in a prestigious newspaper, presents his reviews on accessible platforms.
Siskel and Ebert were from a time when hollywood was interested in making money and entertaining moviegoers. Also, journalists were actually that, journalists and hollywood actually cared about what critics had to say. Now all they care about is "THE MESSAGE" (as Drinker would say) and mainstram critics are so scared to go against "THE MESSAGE"
Why? He's pandering without ANY ability to actually critique the films he rambles on about. There's a reason his content ALWAYS leads toward "the message," because it's all he's good for. He caters specifically to middle-aged men wearing rose-tinted glasses and pining over "the good old days."

The best part about these stories is that Disney, Marvel etc. are basically admitting that they're losing influence to alternative media. If a UA-camr can shut your movie down by simply poo-pooing it on their channel, it means your movie probably wasn't in the public eye that much anyway.

Cinema Sins had similar issues with directors attacking them by name for mocking their films (for some reason I think it was that godawful The Core film, but that can't possibly have had a director). UA-camrs effect word-of-mouth, the only form of marketing that actually works and can't be faked (at least not easily) by expensive marketing firms. So they have a disproportionate effect, since their audiences talk to family and friends, effectively multiplying the reach of the UA-camr's criticism.
Thats the thing about the major Hollywood players (like Disney) who suck. They never actually go under. Ever. And yes. It is solely on account of their being too big to fail.
"The customer is always right in matters of taste." Give them what *they* want not what *you* want. Hollywood has completely ignored this for the last 10 years and has burned billions of dollars as a result.
It's been a thing with entertainment in general. Not just Hollywood. Gaming had it too where around 2008 as older millennials started seeking jobs within entertainment and journalistic industries as a means of getting their worldview out there for others to digest. By 2012 they were turning games into mild political soapboxes with what they could get away with. A lot of people really don't give GamerGate the credit it deserves, and when they managed to con the public into some farce that it was solely about "Men gamers hated women gamers for wanting to feel included" when in reality, the origins of GamerGate happened because Zoe Quinn was getting very favorable reviews on a lukewarm indie game by journalists she was known to pal around with, and in some cases sleep with. It was an ethics complaint from gamers over whether we could trust our journalists who were clearly being paid off by companies to say games like Dragon Age 2 were the second coming when they were a steaming pile of shit but the company wrote a check with an extra 0 that day. Now in 2024 they don't make any effort to hide it. A far cry from back 6 years ago when Blizzard was trying to come up with 50 different excuses why in Battle For Azeroth, all of the main characters driving the story were females and any males were relegated to submissive cuck status. Now they openly tell their users if they don't like the wokeness to quit the game and berate them before privating their own account when they realize more people are against their shit than they think. It's been going on in Hollywood for far longer, but it's the same fucking thing. Except movies affect more people than games, so it took a lot longer for the veil to be pulled.
The critical drinker is the reason why I saw godzilla minus one. Maybe, just an idea, if they made movies he liked, people would go watch their movies.

@poppers7317 Much more that you obviously do. Especially when it comes about lecturing someone about respecting someone's honesty. When you have "Hollywood Elites" talking about censoring criticism of their movies, then they (Hollywood) has a problem. When people go to the movies, they don't want or care to be lectured to. They want to be entertained. That's why people don't want to hear about "inclusion, equity, and/or equality." Because they're being criticized for the lousy product they're (Hollywood) is putting out, that's why they're going after "Critical Drinker" and other UA-cam critics. Hollywood (aka "Hollyweird") can't "see the forest for the trees." Not to mention that Hollywood (namely Disney) is losing money hand over fist by the tune of Tens of Millions, if not Hundreds of Millions of Dollars. That's a Business Model that can't be sustained in the Long Term. People likeKevin Fiege, Kathleen Kennedy, Bob Iger, and Leslye Headland should be thrown out of Disney. They're literally destroying a once great entertainment company (Disney) and franchises like Star Wars and the MCU.
Here's the thing: I didn't need Critical Drinker to tell me these movies and shows were awful. I appreciate him confirming they are as awful as I thought or even worse.
True. But if you and him agree a heck of a lot and he sees something before you do, his critic could save you the money. That's all that matters to Hollywood, it's the money. He's connecting with people to the point that money is not being spent.

Been happening with gaming and journalism far longer than this. Never forget that UA-cam had to tweak its algorithm to effectively lower independent content that built the site in favor of the Mainstream Media news titans who a couple decades prior said the internet was a dumb fad and would never go anywhere. Then made hit piece after hit piece showing the most disturbing or controversial videos they could find and telling parents to not let their kids use the site, as well as suggesting legislation to punish companies for what gets uploaded on their sites if they don't police it correctly. I'm about 95% sure most of the hate mob around Elon buying Twitter can be traced back to some journalist with an ego mad they weren't going to get special treatment anymore and instead had to obey the same rules as everyone else. Legally to a normal person, that's considered Blackmail and in pretty much all states classified as a felony. Hollywood is so ideologically captured they cannot understand why their movies are not resonating with the general public. They attack everyone other than themselves because they lack the ability of self reflection that is needed to critically evaluate the movies they produce.

One of the things that come to mind is this is just another attack on freedom of speech. The studios are looking for anyone to blame for their bad work. They could have hired better to make stories then present them. These actors much of them young do not know any better and most likely had directors that were told not to do their jobs, and some directors were a part of the problem of being activists and not story tellers. I used to be a movie fanatic but now-a-days I can care less. I stopped watching movies in the theaters 20 years ago. I have been to less than a hand full of movies in the theaters since then. It also does not help that seeing a movie in the theater is too expensive. It also does not help that actors and other in that business say and do things that are ignorant and that is even reported by the main stream news, as well as what actors and directors said on social media. The problem is that Hollywood forgot that that in order to made good movies that must tell good stories that make sense. Not throw in politics. Politics is what causes theaters to be empty. Hollywood used to know this. But now-a-days, Hollywood does not seem to care at all. Even before DEI lead movies, they were not doing a good job telling stories of regardless of the type of movie that it was. I used to spend a lot at the theater. Most movies suck now. Movie makers call fans toxic among other things. This sounds like another excuse for more bad movies. I've gone back to paperbacks.
Can I sue the Charlie's Angels reboot and blame them for depicting men as weak, brain-dead, and evil? That's the reason I couldn't get a date for 2 years, I suspect. That makes about as much sense as suing a movie critic over....critiquing a movie.
The critics won't back down and shouldn't. Freedom of speech will live on
Problem is, Western Europe is going through a Communist takeover, in which “hate speech” laws can be used against film critics like CD, Disparu, Azzie and yours truly? And the scary part is, it’s being done by non European PM’s and Politicians.
Not on UA-cam it won't. I routinely get 24-hour bans for hate speech simply for speaking the truth.
Just make a good movie, you dumb bastards and you won't have to worry about it.
One of the main factors of going after the Drinker is his stance on woke politics in Hollywood. He's not afraid to call out The Message in any of his videos.

Same here. The fact that guys like them _can't_ be bought brings my butt in the cinema seat; silencing them will make me stay at home.
Also I try to convince friends to go with me to watch a movie, so we're talking about more than just one ticket sale per trip.

So instead of attacking the audience... they're gonna attack the people the audience trusts and respects enough to sort of name as our representatives.

well they got Rotten Tomatoes to comply, but they can't get individual CCs to comply so they put the screws to them so they can continue to plug the message.

typical corporate behaviour, take no responsibility for anything negative, privatize profits, externalize costs, blame everybody but those responsible
I was watching Drinker's stream. It had loads of viewers & a busy chat. Yet he still took the time to respond to my comment, even though it wasn't a Superchat. He's a good guy.
Hes a good guy. Goes a little far sometimes, but most of his takes are solid.
@@sambreyer7344 I've only disagreed with his movie takes 2 or 3 times in the last year. Maybe the stuff I haven't seen but seen him talk about, he'd be wrong in my eyes, but the stuff I have seen, I vastly agree with his takes.
@@dlewis9760 Yeah it’s just sometimes he goes overboard with “THE MESSAGE.” Like when a black character appears onscreen apparently that’s instantly woke and awful. I don’t condone him tbh, we’ve been shoved so much rubbish these past years.

So if they don't want critics. They will stop with the woke bs right?
Oh no. Ok then. They can suck it. We will keep talking then. Period.
They don't even realise that 90% of people aren't even on social media and still are mostly influenced by word-of-mouth. And that the majority of people never embraced their ideology in the first place. So not only do they not have the reach they think, they also are unable to see the limited effectivenesss of their propaganda because social media (and its tons of bots) seem like to be in favor of them. They're caught in their own thought prison while everyone just abandoned ship a long time ago. To me, they're nothing more than a weird current-day version of the Truman Show 🍿😆
I literally would have never KNOWN about those bombs except for CR and other critics.
i would rather ban the entirety of hollywood and be left with no new movie and tv media to consume than ban free speaking and critique. fuqs sake.
Stopped watching PooWood movies for some years now.
Once in a while am watching trailers and movie reviews but no movies.
Fuck Hollywood. We still have anime.
Find Asian stuff with subtitles. I occasionally watch Korean crime dramas. "Griity".

I bet they do! They can peddle all the garbage they want with their own agendas regardless of what the majority want. You often see the discrepancy on RT between "critics" and certified viewers. The divide has never been greater.
Wrongthink will not be tolerated. Obedience is freedom! Tyranny is liberty.
Hollywood is done, attacking critics isn't going to change anything.
They want to stop people from being warned about potentially losing money and getting upset and frustrated.
They don't seem to care that the machines are thinking, but they are up in arms that the audience is.
What these clebs want is a return to the days when people blindly plunked down their money and sit to 180 minutes of shit in their eyes.
They can condition and train it into the younglings, dumb them even further down, lower the bar even more, they will praise 1% quality.
The Critical Drinker and Nerdrotic have saved med SO MUCH TIME!
Thank you for that! 🙌🏽

@@AttmayI was about to say that, the amount of movies i skipped it isn't even funny.
The fact that their Movie SUX has nothing to do with the fact that it flopped!
People literally look forward to Ryan George's pitch meetings more than the movie itself. So if there ever was a 'threat' to Hollywood in the form of a youtuber, it would be him.
I feel sorry for him to have to actually watch these crappy movies in order to make these.
I disagree, honestly. Ryan makes funny videos, that point out some ridiculous plot points. He could, and has, made them about movies that are still seen as very good and entertaining movies despite their flaws. No real opinions are offered and honestly i'm not even sure he dislikes any of the movies he completely destroys.. Does not seem to be his intent.
Comparing that to actual critics, who actively target Hollywood and their writers in the points that are made. I think actual critiques are what could erode trust in new movies, while i honestly have watched movies JUST so i could enjoy the pitch meeting after (granted, free movies. i wouldnt go to the theater for just this reason)
@@Attmay The one that really made me feel sorry for him having to sit through was Ghostbusters 2016 😬
It boils down to this: they are making movies for the minority of their viewership. They are making minority money.
Right and they can’t stand to see that lol 🤡
@@yobelegend dunno why they think people would just watch shit because they like superhero shit.

Imagine owning a restaurant a blaming the customers for not liking your food... that's exactly what Hollywood is doing.
That happens too.
The entire world of millions and millions, even billions of fans, should gather together and unite together and petition for Disney and Hollywood to close and shut down.
Optimistic but I like the idea
@@gwenmartin5388I mean hey if Hollywood is thinking about suing these content creators for the right to speak their opinion then this doesn’t sound too far fetched, right lol
Letting them continue to crapshoot themselves into bankruptcy is the way. Much like the game studios, and should be extended to more parts of business worldwide.
Without hollywood productions u wouldnt know these youtubers, and you wouldnt have made this comment. making your comment dumb asf
Let’s get Warner bros to hand over everything to me!
It would be funny having a 15 year old owning a big company.
I’d approve anything that doesn’t disrespect the source material (so Velma would be cancelled on the spot)
Too much common sense here for Hollywood to take seriously
I hope that these movie reviewers on UA-cam that got some type of court letter, will counter sue underneath the whole idea of freedom of speech. That is something that democrats can't handle.
If the movies were good, you might be able to look past the expensive part. With the price and the content of the movie you end up feeling like a sap.
