As I’m affiliated with a caravan manufacturer my guess is that you’ve had a catastrophic structural issue, you’ve approached the manufacturer to assess their warranty policy, they’ve rejected your claim and you threatened to air the issue! They’ve then came back and said we’ll refund you, you return the van and they gag you in return!

These guys put their van through hell, its their prerogative but they banged, twisted, gouged and scratched the hell out of it, If I did this I would be grateful that a refund was even offered. Ive got one of these vans myself and they are a good van, one of the handful out there that are good. As you have stated the company has bought the van back, I would presume, knowing this company, that they didn’t want their name tarnished and to also prove they have their customers back. All you need to do is ask any owner who has one these vans of the level of customer support they get. I think any company would be protective of their hard work and good name they have.
In saying that the videos were enjoyable and hats off to them for creating memories for their kids.
Don’t sell them an off-road caravan with warranty to use it off-road😂😂😂 it obviously wasn’t up to the task
Horses for courses! Full Offroad means exactly that! Obviously those vans are not designed for that and hence why this has happened, allegedly!
@@TerryCassar Go and buy a new LandCruiser and bush bash it every day, see if you don’t have to fix stuff you have broke in the bush 😂,
I started handing my dad wrenches at 7 while he was fixing our cars - i am now 56 yrs old and dad has passed away for about 4 yrs. now - i will always value those times and the fact that MY father cared enough about me to take the time. Your son will always be grateful for what you’re showing him - you're great parents for teaching your kids self-reliance and learning by truly living life !!!!

If what you are not allowed to say it's due to a non disclosure agreement, they are illegal! This is one reason why caravan companies can continue to get away with hiding the truth from consumers. I refused to sign ours. It's so far cost us $14,500. But I am staying to my word "No" so I can help others.
NDAs are not illegal to my knowledge, but you don’t have to sign one.

Aww Cartwrights! I really feel for you guys. I've been watching your journey for a while but I had to stop when my hubby passed away in November. Seeing you do exactly what we wanted and had planned, broke my heart for a bit.
But now our young son and I will be turning his ILOAD into a camper, and we'll do some travelling to help heal our hearts.
We're officially homeless now too. We're staying with family which I'm grateful for. With the housing crisis, rentals are so hard to get and they're ridiculously expensive. I couldn't afford the unit we were in by myself, and I couldn't stay there without my hubby there anyway.
I'm now a single mum with a toddler who wants to spend her time raising her own child - not sending him to daycare everyday and have others raise him - just to be able to afford to have a 'home'. Home is where your heart is. This is my choice to be free and be on the road, and to be with my son. So I feel you, having to give up a place you've loved and made so many happy memories is hard.
My attitude is gratitude. To be grateful for the happiness, goodness and love of those experiences we treasure, and also to be grateful for the lessons. The not so good stuff really teaches us how we respond to life is what matters. When you've got the right attitude, you can't be held down.
When we're living in the moment, we can enjoy the anticipation of what's to come.

Thank you. We try and make it all fun and games. We promised ourself to never lose sight of why we started filming. It’s not for money l, it’s for the love of life. And we try and get our children as involved as possible

It is 12.30 am (1300hrs) that I am watching you in the UK (Scunthorpe) you are making me so hungry eating straight from the side of your van. It should not be allowed without me there.
Your videos give a lot of joy to a lot of people. Especially those who for numerous reasons (disabilities medical, age, financial etc) cannot enjoy the great outdoors so thanks on their behalf.
Congrats on the new rig guys looks amazing out with the old in with the new. The only bit that scared me was at the 45.53 mark different keys to every dam lock lol I couldn't wait to get my locks keyed alike in my old van. Looking forward to following your adventures again in 2024
Well you may have been with out your main home, thankfully you had the rig as a fallback. Jackson’s much loved men shed, his pride and joy for serving up breakfast ( lobsters) coffee, ice blocks, cold drinks, and all the other necessities. Certainly never to early to train little Ellis for tyre repairs and assisting Dad builds strong independent young men, so vital today. Wow to receive a van so promptly was a relief, I could see this house living was going to become suburban 😅 very quickly, now you’ve had a taste of the great outdoors. Happy Campers, travel safe.

Oh my god I’m halfway through this weeks episode its really going to mess with my head if I can’t workout what’s going on with the old van , I already have one hundred scenarios in my head. It’s just not good for me . I cannot believe the Eavie could be a difficult child that just can’t be correct. You guys truly look so much happier when you are back in a van

So missed you last week and then the hour long this week. But then some blurring happened on your old caravan, I'd want a new caravan too if my caravan started to blur out. Something major must of went down to get a full refund. So moving on you've got a new one and another on the way, congrats to you all. I see the youngest, Wilder I think his name is, has been watching the Flintstones with riding his bike, made me laugh. Thanks for the hour long vid and a shame losing the other footage, that would of been heart breaking. And the drone with that eagle, wow, lucky you all found it. I agree with Terry below. The tipoff is this footage of the caravan has logos and trademarked graphics blurred out. I will say it's impressive the unit held up as long as it did, however. I used to work for two of the largest automakers in the world and the stresses on that unit from a true outback lifestyle and "real" use in remote areas are beyond most people's ability to comprehend. And frankly at the outer envelope of what's possible with a "civilian" build. It would likely have to weigh another 2000 kilos (nearly all added steel structure) to handle a sustained life like that. Essentially, only something built to a military grade (all business, very little fluff/comforts) is what you'd need to have it last decades. Curious to see what's next. Cheers.

Hi from New Zealand. Wow what a video the twists and turns of it. Yes Terry from the last comment has probably nailed it. You are great script writers for a great TV show. It was a very cunning way of presenting the show, very captivating. It had us guessing what could it be. You are a great family with a happy positive attitude. With the lifestyle that you do you need to upgrade to a new caravan every 18 to 24 months to avoid having major repair jobs to do. Keep up the happy travels going. Thanks Jono P

We unfortunately had a major issue with our van same manufacturer. But you guys have the right attitude towards life and this is just a stumbling point all be it a BIG one but you WILL get through it. Keep smiling and pushing forward......

What was the issue you had with the van and did you get it resolved?
@dantheman6159 At first quality small quality control issues from the factory and poor workmanship. Their response was what do you expect for an 85k van. In the end it had major water leaks unknown to me which caused black mould and the entire wall from front to back rotted out. We ended up retiring the van. Never ever would I buy or recommend JB Caravans. Same owner as Masterpiece. Poor quality, poor workmanship.
The episode was excellent. It's not necessary for us to understand every detail of the challenges encountered; what matters is your ability to progress and maintain the high quality of your content. Additionally, it's commendable how wonderfully you're raising your children. Continue delivering outstanding content; I eagerly anticipate the unveiling of the new caravan.

Sad that you had to change campers.
20years ago I did the same. Half way around I ordered another and drove down to Adelaide from Darwin to go pick it up.
Took advantage of no camper and crossed the Simpson and tanami on the way down.
Then straight up the middle to continue with our adventures..
Was an expensive mistake buying a crap camper.
Spent about 12 months on the phone complaining about the problems with the old one, even had to drop it in to get repaired over in WA.
Sold the old camper up the top. Months after buying the new one..
Was very happy with the new one.
Ohh well it’s all history now.
I have never ever seen a family so excited and happy to receive a caravan. Bloody stoke for you guys.

Homeless? I have been homeless! Due to my rollover accident I had that left me 100% disabled and unable to work I'm living on disability and my budget is less than my expenses and that ended up making me homeless and without a vehicle. So I know firsthand what being actually homeless feels like. I'm still struggling but I'm no longer homeless. I'm below poverty level but I'm not a quitter!! I've been homeless and without a vehicle and I'm not going to let that happen again. I'm glad you are moving forward with another caravan and we look forward to future videos and hopefully you'll be able to disclose why you went through that difficult time. God Bless

This intrigues me in why you had to blur out the old van and what the cirumstances behind this, since you bought it 9 months ago and why you having to return it to the manufacturer and get a full refund, only to buy a similar one from another manufaturer..

Any van will get trashed with that abuse. I have one and they are a great van and the company does nothing but support its customers. I wouldn’t comment here if they didn’t.

Curious what the failures were old one
We had 20+ failures and more than 6 attempts to repair one particular issue and they (different brand) still wouldn’t give us our money back or a replacement!
What people should do with social media criticism is to ask an owner. I am one and like others we have had excellent customer service and no fundamental issues.
Could bet that if they weren’t influenzas they wouldn’t have been refunded as easily, or at all

I’m gutted !! I kept saying to my wife how much I loved your setup. Well I guess the Optimum Extreme off road camper wasn’t all that optimum after all. Onwards and much love from the U.K.
The vans are great. I own one. You have to admit the treatment it got was not like using UK roads. And the manufacturer bought it back after being flogged for 9 months. It was good of them to do that.

Relate so much to the city comment, hence why I’m in the top end now and even find Darwin overwhelming. Also after being back in a house for 5 months temporarily, im just not settled, ill never settle anywhere ever again, too happy in my rooftop haha
That’s it!! It’s hard to go back to stationary life after living a life on the road 😅 also, i feel like we get more sick when living in a house..

These ongoing episodes provide an excellent real world education to those of us in the learning and research phase of our journey. We get to witness and experience through the Cartwright's eyes what issues, trials and successes these expedition rated campers really provide. There's no better test and testimony than actually going out in the wilderness and putting them through its paces. Yet, to get the manufacturer to not leave them stranded, did the family have to compromise their freedom of speech??!! Not sure if this is the case here, but if it is - what a missed opportunity to step up and do the right thing...
