Couldn't agree more! This bracelet really makes all the difference and the negative display isn't really that bad. I'm willing to trade the lower visibility for the more modern low-key look and it's not like I'm doing any super tactical mission-critical things where tilting my wrist for half a second longer is the difference between life or death. :)
I just ordered one of these. I’ve never been a fan of the massive round g shocks but I’ve been eyeing the squares for a few years and never pulled the trigger on one. A few months ago, I went to try on a few squares at my local Macy’s and absolutely hated the resin straps which made me quit looking at g shocks altogether. I knew combi bracelets were a thing but I also knew that they were in such high demand that it was virtually impossible to get them. Once I figured out that this model came with the bracelet, I ordered one right away and I’m excited to get it. I really just wanted a g shock for things like camping, floating the river, swimming, etc. I think it’s gonna be an excellent beater.
Super video, by the way. For right around $12.00 you can buy screen protectors. I bought mine on Amazon, package had 5 screens in it. I have a couple of very nice Casios that I spent between $300 and $500 on and didnts get the screen protectors and now have a stupid little hairline scratch on both right across the middle of the face. Both of those watches have compasses in them so the Bull bars actually disturb the compass reading, throwing it off about 4 degrees - did you know that. So as a result I now have Screen protectors on all my mineral crystal casios. Just a suggestion for anyone who might care. Out of all the tricked out G Shocks and Protreks I have I must say my little simple GW-M5610 holds a special place in my small collection. To me the 5610 seems like the heart and soul of the G Shock family of watches. Everybody likes to disagree on youtube, so if you disagree with my opinion here is my response in advance. I dont care.
Excellent review, thank you! One thing you left out is the Auto EL feature which is definitely nice to have. Simply hold the 'C' pusher aka illumination button down for a few seconds and you'll see E AL on the screen. Allows the watch to be turned upwards slightly on the wrist to automatically illuminate the screen for a second or so.

Inspector yes it does. I got this one and plan to get later on the gw5000. In this way I get to experience both super soft strap of gw5000 and this great combi on both a regular and a negative screed

Anyone who buys one with the resin band is nuts, because they could just get a resin band used for a few bucks and then sell the bracelet for 100 bucks and get most of the cost of the watch back. but I'm so glad you have discovered a corner of the internet where the combination of features you seek is sold.
I’ve seen them on some of my friends watches. I don’t really feel the need with what I usually use the watch for, but for hard wearing applications there really isn’t a substitute
