I can’t believe you guys found a multi trunk crab apple tree this late in the season. Looking forward to seeing it in bloom next spring. Lucky little birds in your garden as you are always looking out for the birds, bees, and nature. Perfect location there, it’s going to be beautiful tucked among the evergreens. Thanks for sharing the history and book of the grower.

A multi-trunk crabapple? How beautiful that will be in the spring!! Suggestion for a future episode - an interview with the breeder of this tree and the author of 'The Tree Book'. I think many of us would love to hear from him.
I love that little hoppy dance around the tree that your husband did. At least it looked that way on fast forward. Lol 😂. Love the tree. The south garden is coming together nicely.
Love multi-trunk crabapples! A deer stripped my crabapple last fall, so I cut it to the ground, and now it’s growing from the roots, and I’m making it into a multi trunk tree 🌺
i love how excited you get over plants, shrubs and trees, not all, but especially certain ones. at the end of the video you looked so giddy it looked like you were about to cry. i dont know, maybe it was just me . lolol
Those yellow bushes behind it are beautiful. Makes me think a Forsythia in that area would be amazing in the Spring if they bloom at the same time. Great tree! Thank you for sharing your research on the breeder!

I then want to go out to your place and have Aaron drive us as we ride on the front of the Tractor 🤣 what fun! Loving your space. 💕 Congratulations guys
Laura, I must say I looove the woodchips look in that area. It gives a natural look, really woodland-like and it's different from the perfect looking rest of the garden 🤍 Don't feel pressure to put mulch in that area soon, we all make choices in our garden "because it's cheep" so it's nice to be able to relate to that 🤗
OMGoodness, this is one of the very first trees we added to our (new construction) yard in May 2015. We absolutely LOVE ours! Multi trunk trees always call out to me =)
They way you and Aaron take charge and get things done, whether digging a hole or other wise is so admirable. It is in part what makes your channel so worthy of watching. A quite wonderful pair.
Well, that was a find. Thanks for explaining again the method to your madness. How delightful that you can see this tree all the way from your window! It's a beauty. ~ Lisa
Gorgeous little tree. I had never heard the green, blue, red & yellow philosophy but it is so true. I've always done green and red or green and blue mostly. I will be adding some more!!
Laura you and Aaron are so on the right track with this space. It is absolutely beautiful already. About the wood chips vs compost I think its actually very wise to go that route... wood chips decomposes and adds nutrients to the soil just as compost....just at a slower pace. Besides, you all add amendments as you plant anyways. Great video material as always!!
What a beautiful tree to find for your space! It is perfect! I love watching how much this new space is coming together. Look at the grass pathways already, they look like they have always been there! Thanks Laura and Aaron for sharing your experience and knowledge!
That is a gorgeous tree and the landscape is looking so good!! The view of the new green lawn space leading up to the house with the new winding driveway and straight row of maples on the east…it was all just a dream last year at this time. You and Aaron made your dream for this space come to life right in front of our eyes and it is so exciting and joyful to watch. Thanks so much for bringing us along for the ride. It is so much fun! 💗
I'm so happy you mentioned the "clean up" aspect because we bought this tree last summer - the single trunk version - and my husband said if those crabapples make a mess, he's pulling it outta there! Oh my! Thank you for explaining how the tree holds them and the birds take care of clean up. Whew!
That tree is absolutely gorgeous, and it is exactly what the space needed! I never knew about the blue, green, yellow, and red trick. Now I want to go out into my garden and see what colors are missing.
Laura, I was just hiking in Montana while wearing a Garden Answer sweatshirt hoping another GA Groupie would spot me! Sadly no one has said anything yet.. can’t wait for the day someone recognizes the logo! 🪴
The gift gardening gives is by starting manageably small (whatever that means to you) you get to watch as the journey unfolds. Things are never "done" so it's always a labor of love project. It gets me up in the morning, knowing there's something to attend to out there. So nice the berries will provide for wildlife :)
"ended up at a garden center as one does" oh yes they do haha! Love love love the look you're creating and I thought you'd want to know that I've been using your color scheme of red, green, yellow, blue, and my gardens are looking amazing :)
I love multi trunk trees but have found them difficult to find. I guess there are a lot of people in my area competing for them, lol. This one is beautiful and I hope it does great for you.
One of my favorite memories of my Grandmas yard was her multi trunk crabapple tree. As a kid we climbed and played in that tree for hours on end. Also she made the most delicious crabapple jelly from the fruit. Hope your kids will be making special memories in this beautiful area of your property. Also, thanks for the color tip for a yard space. I’d never heard that, but it makes a lot of sense. As always, thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. Have a great day!
That crabapple is stunning, and you are so right - it really does bring the space to life with the added 4th colour. Do you know of anyone in your area that have had success with Pieris Japonica? They do prefer an acid soil. My grandmother had several varieties, as well as crab apples, Japanese maple, Prunice, Rhodedendrons, Camelias, Kalmia, dogwood, various connifers and my fave - the Lyndon tree.
That’s how it goes, I always tell my hubby when we go to our garden center “no I’m not going to buy anything I just want to look around” meanwhile he goes ahead an clears out the back of the truck 😂😂😂😂 What a beautiful tree, it like everything else is going to be amazing 😊
Laura have you considered leaving that pile and maybe making it larger so you have a little Hill there to work with? I had the builders leave a pile when I built my home and I ended up making a beautiful rock garden with the mound! I know you're not looking for a rock garden but I'm just saying it's an idea to change up the flat landscape

Love that crabapple tree Laura. I actually believe I heard it breathe a sigh of relief when you cut off that wire basket and set it free. Your new acreage is developing beautifully and the placement of the crabapple looks just right. I’m sure it will be happy and thrive in its new home. You and Aaron make such a great team and seem to have such fun working together and providing beautiful surroundings for your lovely family. 😊❤️

The chipped trees are best as they include the greens as well. Love the crabapple tree, it is so pretty. Ours is old, and the squirrels and birds eat up all the fruit.
Right tree, right spot! Laura, you've done it again! Absolutely beautiful and it's so wonderful to see you so excited about it. Thank you for sharing your joy with us. A couple of questions: Does the Golden Raindrop crabapple also have persistent fruit that are usually cleaned up by the birds? “Ended up at a garden center, as one does.” 🤣 Well yeah. My multi trunk Maple is my favorite tree in my yard! They just look so whimsical. Can’t wait to see that crabapple bloom! 🌺
Absolute PERFECTION!!! The tree was born to live in the exact spot! Every tree you plant I think to myself "I need to get that!" For sure I'm checking with my local garden center for this one!! Ok..Random thought, When you spread the compost with your friends, you mentioned in the recap her name was Katie. Is this the same Katie that often has questions in your recaps? She's also from the Seattle area 🙂
I love that the crabapple tree feeds the birds. We have a lot of East Texas pine trees that I feel do nothing but scare me during storms. I know the crabapple grows here but until I can get rid of some scrub cedar trees in the yard I have no where for the beautiful trees to be planted. I wish I had found your channel before all these scrub trees had grown so tall and big. Goal: save, remove scrubs and plant beautiful trees to feed the birds. Ya'll Stay Safe and God Bless.
Oh yes it is perfect there!! What a beautiful tree!!! We just planted a crab apple tree this spring and it's one of my favorite trees in our landscape now!!

Hey Laura, love that crabapple tree! It is very interesting to know that in a garden space there should be green, blue , red and yellow. So looking at my front garden space, I have green , red and yellow. Besides a blue spruce, what other plants are blue?Does blue salvia count? I have that!😁

Also, what is the difference between Affiliate/Sponsored Links and BRANDS WE PARTNER WITH? Again, thank you for sharing your joy! 🌿🌸
I couldn’t believe my eyes!! I’ve spent the last two weeks looking for a tree to replace the 8 35-year old crabappples that we had to take down and there it is-the perfect solution! Laura to the rescue again!! The color, shape, food for the birds, and beautiful Spring color-everything I was hoping for in a replacement. Thanks for sharing your genius wit us every day🥰
Always love when you add more trees to your landscape and share with us the different varieties you are planting. This Friday on BBC Gardeners’ World, they are doing an hour long special on trees…..should be full of inspiration and great advice. 💚
Fall cleanup time in S.E. Michigan. So many things to cut back. So sad. Aerial view would be appreciated Aaron. Love the videos.
I LOVE this channel!! I have been following for a few years now am currently living on ½ an acre and making it beautiful till we can get more land in a couple years! I have plans to create a beautiful botanical garden and laura you are my teacher and inspiration!! I love watching your garden unfold, you make us feel as though your garden is our own and every time you go to plant another plant my children and I get so excited at seeing the beauty come together! You are helping me develop my eye for style and find what kind is mine! Thank you for all you do!
“Ended up at a garden center, as one does.” 🤣 Well yeah.
My multi trunk Maple is my favorite tree in my yard! They just look so whimsical. Can’t wait to see that crabapple bloom! 🌺
Thank you guys beautiful contrasts 🙌🥰🧤👒🐨🦘🇦🇺Karen from Australia 🐝🌱🪴🤩
💜Good morning Laura...How interesting and exciting to find the connection of the tree .. and how it continues to you ! Beautiful choice 💜🇨🇦
I thought me and my husband were the only ones who goes for a ride to get away and end up at a nursery with plants to set out when we get home lol great video love that beautiful tree.
I feel very happy watching this kind of planting, and Laura, your enthusiasm is so delightful! Thanks for taking us along!
Good morning! Have a beautiful week! 🌞
Teamwork makes the dream work. Love the information that is shared with us.
Love that tree! It is perfect for the space. I was waiting for to say something about that part of your garden is wet @ shaded more than the other parts and you did. Nice work 😊
What a marvelous team you two are! Thank you for sharing about having 4 colors in the landscape. Learning lots from you!
Thanks for the introduction to this beautiful variety of crabapple! Loved all the extra tidbits of information too, from the background on this tree & it’s breeder, the breakdown process of wood chips, to your color composition method of design. Been gardening for 30+ years and I’m always excited to watch your videos because there’s always something to learn. Great job!👍
That Crabapple tree is beautiful! Using an auger makes planting so much easier, one thing I learned from watching & learning from your videos! For me using an auger has made planting less stressful! 🙂🥰💚🌳🍁🍂
Hey Laura, love that crabapple tree! It is very interesting to know that in a garden space there should be green, blue , red and yellow. So looking at my front garden space, I have green , red and yellow. Besides a blue spruce, what other plants are blue?Does blue salvia count? I have that!😁
Wow, such good information about the four colors to use for interest and placement of the trees in an area.. it’s like a light bulb went on, and thought that really makes sense. The crabapple is really beautiful, love the multi trunks, just perfect Laura.👍
Love your new tree! It is a great performer here in alkaline Colorado, we sell out at the garden center on these every spring. You are going to love 'The Tree Book', I have a signed copy from when Keith was at our tree diversity conference in Denver. Priceless information and experience from those 2 authors. As always we love your vids and Wish you the best.
Some junipers have a great blue color for evergreens. For perennials walkers low nepeta and many types of salvia, azure blue is my fav.
Laura did a video awhile back about all the different blue things you can plant.
Beautiful tree and so lucky to find one that had a multi trunk. Laura, thanks for sharing your method of colors.
Such a stunning tree! I've fallen in love with your other crabapple and am keeping my eye on them for our yard. It will be another "Laura made me do it", like my Coleus collection 😊
I loved this video. It is such a joy watching you and Aaron working together to get a large planting done. So enjoy it!
If you ever find yourself thinking Gee I wish I could grow a Royal Poinciana Tree like they have in Florida, just say to your self, but I have a gorgeous Royal Raindrop Tree! What a beauty! Perfect welcome sign.
This was quite the serendipitous discovery that led you to planting the perfect tree in that spot. Love it!
Wow the multi trunk crab apple tree looks great and the fact it has a multi trunk is just beautiful. Can’t wait to see what your south garden would like as it matures. 😍
Every garden should have at least 1 crabapple, stunning trees. What a beautiful specimen you have there. Greetings from France ( Europe :-) )
What a beautiful tree, will be so gorgeous come spring!
Great addition in the yard, perfect placement, great job as always Laura.
Thank you for this video. I love learning about this tree, the grower, etc. Great educational video. I cannot wait to hear about the "tree book" you have ordered.
I love how you plant trees together . That seems so romantic to me .
The crab tree looks gorgeous there. Can’t wait to see what this all looks like in a few years when everything fills out. Can you imagine what your property will look like with Christmas lights?
Gorgeous tree. I need to look those up and see if they do well in my area. I love the winter berries and spring blooms. Much like our Crepe Myrtle trees. Beautiful
I absolutely love that tree. probably my favourite of all the trees you've planted so far. It's stunning!
