    This is what I did today here in my home in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I bought 3 taro tubers from a grocery store for just RM1 (USD0.24). The tubers already sprouting in the shop with green spears/shoots on top. I planted them in a big grocery bag, I dug holes at bottom of bag, pour in a mixture of several types of soil, and I buried the tubers in the soil.
    I planned to do this 2 weeks ago, I bought a lot of tubers for planting. But my wife cooked the tubers this afternoon, she didn't know these were planting materials, she thought the tubers would soon go bad as they were giving out shoots in the basket. No harm done, I just bought new tubers which I immediately planted today to avoid them going into the chicken curry pot again! Haha!

      I think the only edible part is the root, and you may need to look up how to properly process the tuber(corm?) as well.

      Hardiness zone 6 here, it's expensive and very hard to get in stores, we don't have Asian stores in my region, and in supermarktes it was available at the beginning of February, when they sold Asian stuff & foods, I guess it's linked with Lunar New Year. I bought few bulbs and hope to grow them, taro is so tasty!

      @ALittleGardenUpNorth  3 роки тому

      Hi Emilie, did you plant them in soil yet?
      It took a month almost before i saw green sprouts from my taro bulb, you are right, they are sprayed with growth retardant. Then after I planted them in soil, it took another 2-3 weeks before I saw the leaves growing. It took time.

    • @emilien.8327

      @@ALittleGardenUpNorth oh yes. I planted it directly in the pot. Then when I saw your video. I try to excavate and inspected the roots. But I buried it again and placed a mixing soil cause it rooted. The next day, I saw several shoots. I hope that it will become leaves. I just planted it in less than a month. So you’re probably right even I planted it in June and now July. It will take Somewhere in August for it to sprout its leaves. Thanks for responding.
