  • This week we will help you answer the question, which Evolve skateboard is for you - The Carbon or Bamboo series?
    We review the Evolve Carbon GT electric skateboard and test it against the three main boards in the Bamboo range - the GTX, the Bamboo GT and the One Board.
    This video review is divided up into two main parts.
    In the first part we cover specs such as size, deck flex, conversion options, customization and technical aspects.
    In the second part we do a few field tests such as
    // A 50m sprint test
    // A 14 degree / 25% hill climb test (over 100m), and;
    // A slide test
    We finish with a few personal opinions from some of our ambassadors so that they can give you some insights into why they like certain boards.
    At the end of the day though it does come down to personal choice - what kind of look do you like and how to you like your electric skateboard to feel.
    The skateboards are tested with their standard wheel configs - so for example the GTX is tested with the 97mm stone ground wheels whereas the Carbon GT is tested with the 83mm GT wheels.
    The tests do try to create a fairly balanced set of parameters - for example 50m is a good distance to show overall power without the wheel choice affecting the boards too much.
    A bit about the Evolve skateboard features:
    Carbon GT: With 3000 watts of on-demand dual brushless sensored motor power, a new wider super-carve truck system for stability whilst enabling tight carves, LCD screen digital remote and a new sleeker, beautifully designed Carbon fiber deck with built-in electrics, this is the most advanced Evolve electric skateboard ever! Available in the F1 inspired GT Carbon Street, or the all new, go anywhere GT Carbon All Terrain.
    GTX: If ever the Evolve Carbon GT and the Bamboo GT had a love child, this would be it! The Bamboo GTX series (X meaning Extras) combines the high performance attributes of the Carbon GT and morphs these features into a slick new looking Bamboo deck. We overhauled the Bamboo GT deck with a massive lithium battery whilst fine tuning the deck flex and laser cutting the grip-tape. We then oversized our Evolve GT street wheels to an all new 97mm sizing and blinged out the 3000 watt motors to a gold finish. What’s the result you ask? The ‘Mac Daddy’ of electric bamboo boards capable of reaching speeds of 43km/hr with a huge battery range of up to 50km/charge and a sweet deck flex that allows for a comforting ride!
    Bamboo GT: We took the true longboard feel that made the bamboo models so popular, and combined it with 3000W of dual brushless motor power, the new GT remote featuring a digital LCD screen, and the new wider super-carve truck system for stability whilst enabling tight carves. Your ride will feel even smoother with Evolve’s all new GT Series wheel - an 83mm hybrid of all that is good in our favourite skate wheels; grip, softness and durability.
    ONE: Evolve Skateboards presents ONE, the single motor series inspired by our earlier generation Pintail and Snubnose designs which helped shape Evolve into what we are today. The bamboo deck has old school characteristics of both the Pintail and Snubnose designs with an added kicktail in the rear of the board with a medium flex allowing for a smooth ride. As far as performance goes, the Evolve ONE has a lot to offer! The powerful 2000 watt sensored brushless outrunner motor allows for a smooth acceleration and braking experience and up to 20% gradient hill climbing ability all on the single drive system. The custom lithium Ion battery gives the rider up to 35km range on a single charge and the new wider Super Carve Truck system allows for stability whilst being able to perform tight turns which lives up to our ethos of making insanely awesome carving machines!

    My fav Evolve video: Breaks down the differences and similarities between the different decks, along with the setup options available for each deck. Useful and informative.

    There are so many electric skateboards on the market right now that it took me a while to research all of them. IMO, the Evolve boards are the best on the market in terms of quality and performance, and from what I have read on many forums, reliability is great as well. I'm ordering myself a Bamboo GT with a set of ABEC11 F1 wheels.

      I had the same, changed it all over to a landyaghts evo 40" deck, the drop down platform and stiffness make for way more control and stability and the 107's work great with the combo also. evolves are great but custom builds are better, next is 4000 watt motors on 63mm mounts.

    I bought the Bamboo GTR 2.5 weeks ago. I freaking love it! It's an incredible board. I still need to try moving the trucks out to gain an inch and see how that feels. So far though I do wonder if I would have liked the Carbon more. I do prefer to ride with the AT tires and go off-road. It's a whole different world on dirt/grass/sand! I hear the Carbon setup can be preferable for off-road. I wish there was a way for me to have tried them out before buying. Either way my Bamboo is SUPER fun. I went back and forth when ordering. Watched this video a million times. I had only ridden a boosted prior to owning an Evolve. So I wasn't 100% sure that I was going to Love AT mode... But of course I did! Now I just wonder if I'd have preferred the stability of the Carbon. But basically I went with the Bamboo because people in this video said it was more fun. I bought to have fun, not to commute. So figured I'd have more fun with a flex board. Plus I'd only ever ridden flex boards. But I STILL wish I could have tried a carbon and still to this day want to ride one offroad to see what it's like!

    I LOVE BAMBOO GT ALL TERRAIN

  • @OrtoStyleLavagna
    @OrtoStyleLavagna 6 років тому

    The episode 41 for me is the favorite because I understand the differences in the use of road wheels compared to those for all terrains; I was interested in understanding what was the best solution in my case, using it mainly to move from one garden to another to follow my crops and also to carry out door-to-door deliveries.
    I think the wheels for all terrains are the best performing solution in my case.
    Thank you!

    I love my Bamboo GTX .. I'm hoping Evolve will keep building there products even better, in the not so distant future I would love to see is and increase in top speed to keep up with the Enertion or Carvon GT. Hope you're working on that Jeff!

    I was gonna save up money for a Bamboo One board, but decided I'm gonna get the Bamboo GT with a Street setup. Since it has a bigger battery & will be perfect for commuting via bus or Ferry. Also I'm a newcomer to E-boards as well :)

    Just received my Carbon GT yesterday and it's amazing! Now I don't have to yell out to passing e-boarders that I'm jealous anymore. I'm 95kg and really wanted the AT setup, so the CGT for me is perfect. Thanks for building an incredible board Evolve, and keep up the great content!

      If you've got enough patience, then you could afford anything. From my standpoint it's I great price for the BEST electric longboard in the WORLD. It's taking me 7 months to save for it (june 2018 is gonna be amazing). Carbon GT all the way!

    • @MattNicassio
      @MattNicassio 5 років тому

      @@steverogers684 Why did you pick Carbon? Are you happy with your purchase? A solid, stiff deck just doesn't sound like I'd enjoy it. I'm very used to a deck with more flex. But that's not to say that I might prefer a solid deck when I give it a chance. I ordered a Bamboo since I'd had experience on a Boosted. But I kinda wonder if I would have preferred a Carbon... It's such a difficult choice. I REALLY wish there was somewhere where I could have tried both :(
      What are your reasons for going Carbon.

    This is my favourite episode! You guys definitely gave me a to-the-point compariSon (which is I think what every skateboarder looks at when buying their best fit board, right?)
    The carbon GTX deck and its off-road practicality looks sick af!!
    Especially those sprint results and better stability, top up all other boards in terms of practicality (like wobbly roads in the city centre of Ghent (Belgium). GREAT PROPAGANDA for you gys as well if I'm the ;ucky winner of that sick ass Carbon GT all terrain!! cheerss

    I have a gen 1 snubnose board with the standard set-up abec 83mm and a second gen remote, is their a way to modify it to change the battery for one of the newer flexible/ thinner ones or use new 97mm /107mm wheels, and lastly connect with the r2 remote?

    Evolve is so much better than boosted

    • @jeremyputnam9019
      @jeremyputnam9019 5 років тому

      Moshe Dabash that’s very very debatable. The amount of control you have with boosted is incredible. Honestly, I don’t think boosted can be matched in terms of comfortability and control. Evolve isn’t far behind in that matter but I definitely give them credit in terms of power, speed, and range.
