Building this project but dealing with 2 issues. First, this boat does not have a traveler. Dont know how they control the main. On my project the traveler is in the location you have the front fastened to the deck. There is a very small space between the traveler and the top of the companionway on my project. Second, The bend at each side of the frame, prevents me from pulling the pattern down properly all the way to the sides. Going to have to do the front panel in 3 parts to make this work.
Couple of things you should change in your design, you did mention that you recommend a double stitch on the top tail of the zipper, younshould double stitch the pockets aswell, the sun and salt weakens the thread over time and lasts better being sewn that way. Also for a distance thats easier to remember when seewing the zipper for the side curtains, keep the zipper together and line the edge of the zipper to the back inside enge of you edge binding and run a double stitch one the zipper tail. Also the tail of the zipper that gets attatched to the top shouldnt be the box endge of the zipper, when you do it this way, the zipper pull stays on the top when the curtains are removed and blow in the wind causing stitches to fail over time and is less annoying than hearing the zipper hitting the frames
The kit comes with a V-92 Polyester thread, but you can change the thread to the Sailrite Lifetime Thread, it is a PTFE thread that will never break down in the sun. True, the starter box for the zipper could have gone onto the curtains. However, I thought it would be easier to slide the zipper post onto the bimini/dodger top with the starter box on the top rather than the curtain. That is the great thing about DIY, you can do what you think best.
@@SailriteDIY on your LSZ1. your needle plate has the seam allowance etched into it. This seam allowance is in 1/2" intervals. Could you make a needle plate with 1/2 Centimetre seam allowance etchings as well?

When would one use a shorter stich length? All the videos show it at 6mm max.
I usually only sew a smaller stitch length with lighter fabric applications. Heavy canvas is usually always about 6mm stitch length.
