Hey, it's like you are praising our favorite sports team. How can we go wrong?
To give you a little more context, this song is directed at people (mainly online trolls) who decide to take their anger out on others for no particular reason without thinking about the effect it has on their lives and mental health. I feel like this song is especially relevant for the Korean entertainment industry where the smallest misstep of celebrities could result in horrifying online bullying. In fact, a few months before the release of this song, two female K-pop stars took their own lives after suffering from depression. Both of them were subject to severe online bullying prior to their deaths.
I think the line "Someone's anger costs someone else's life" is a reference to the incidents that I mentioned.

Yes, this. Korea has some of the most vicious online trolls in the world. They will destroy your life. Get you fired, go after you family and friends. Celebrities belong to their fans in korean culture and if you dont dance like the marionette puppet they want you to be they will cut your strings.

I'd love to see you react to his solo work at Lollapalooza this year, which showcased his new album 'Jack in the Box', particularly the first half of the show. He absolutely killed it! He also made history as the first Korean solo act at Lolla, btw.

You don't have to blog it, just watch it. That was the moment I bought an Arson t-shirt, and drove my husband mad dancing to Hobi around the house. By the way I am 69 yrs old.

Oh is that a jhope bias i see? Now if I'm not mistaken you haven't seen any of jhopes solo performance at lollapalooza. You NEED to check it out. It's a bit over an hour but it's so well planned and engaging you won't even realise when it's finished. If you don't have time you could check out some songs that have been posted individually on BANGTANTV, either way you will not regret it I know you'll love it.

The Rap line always killing it! 🔥🔥 I just have to mention that the lyrics of this song is just so incredible and that J-HOPO IS SO F COOL, THIS MAN STAGE PRECENSE AND ENERGY IS INSANE. I just gotta say, i love how unapologetic u are in your love for BTS. You might see some comments like "Ugh why you always react to bts blah blah this group is better than them blah blah" I always see kpop stans get so angry when people praise or enjoy BTS. It's been that way for years. But listen, even if you do get into other groups (which is completely normal) I'm still appreciative that you were open minded about them and actually appreciate their top tier talent as a group and individually💜💜💜

Loved the reaction! The stances they’ve taken in this song are truly so interesting to breakdown: Suga who talks about how people don’t even need the fuel to burn with rage with how used they are to constantly being angry and how they will do anything to get the reaction out of other people in order to feel validated in their anger; RM who acknowledges the fact that anger can sometimes be good and used in order to change some things in society that we feel angry about, and how through history many changes have been made exactly due to that reason, but the things people are doing now isn’t rage (korean: boonno) but feces aka human waste (korean:boonnyo), so it’s not contributing to anything; and then we have J-Hope who talks about how someone’s words said in anger can ruin someone else’s life and how those people will just continue to get angry until they go insane. At the end, all three of them say how there are many people who think they know what it’s like being a celebrity and how they should put up with everything because they earn a lot of money, the mindset that contributed to many celebrities (especially in k-pop in the last years) to even take their own lives due to the negative comments and everything. So you’re totally right: this song is a social commentary, and I think you will be satisfied to see that BTS have a lot of songs like that. I consider myself a long time j-hope and BTS fan. j-hope has always been killing it. He doesn't have one bad verse. His flows and delivery have always been fireee. Baby Hobi with "Like" is so high school crush. Every rapline song he (all the rappers ofc) has ever done is so good. If he had a chance to perform Hope World mixtape in 2018 we would have all been on our knees 😅
Love watching you get reeled into BTS. I got snagged about 6 yrs ago. I’m old, and as a long time heavy metal fan, I was soo surprised by them when my daughter introduced me. Even their concerts are epic, non-stop, energy fests with the best fans.

Some of their songs benefit a lot from cultural translation. I recommend DKDKTV and their "explained by a korean" videos about UGH, Ddaeng and others. For example this isn't only a clap back to the haters, it is also a commentary on the usefulness of anger to bring about important change. They are essentially chastising their haters for wasting anger on petty and irrelevant things when they should be using it to correct real injustice. Also it's a banger.
Really love your reactions and the perspectives you have on their performances! Their live performance of Attack on Bangtan is also worth watching! I'd love to see you react to Hyukoh's or Fujii Kaze's live performances, they are different but amazing too!
I am watching all of your BTS related videos from oldest to newest so how your opinion and bias has changed i'm unaware of yet but the fact that J-Hope was your first if not still is your rap-line bias melts my heart. They do slot of social commentary songs this one is both about cyber bullying (which they say they are above but hurts or costs others lives) and how hate is being diluted and wasted by it and when we need true anger for social change it fizzles out because it’s drowned out by this pointless anger intended only to harm someone. Top tier song.

Now for the reason why I'm writing this post. One of the things I know u adore are meaningful lyrics. And like so many of their other songs, "UGH" doesn't disappoint. However, some ppl are too lazy to look up the translation. And there is a UA-cam channel that helps with that. The Channel is called DKDKTV. Two guys by the names of Danny and David Kim, (no relation) have been ARMY for a while now. They are also content creators. And because they are Korean, and still living there, they love to help the international ARMY understand BTS's lyrics better. Including Korean phrases. They have several videos that go through a lot of their songs, including "UGH." Please check out their explanation video for "UGH" or any other songs you have been wondering about. They explain in a way that everyone can understand. They are very respected amongst ARMY. Good Luck. Can't wait to see more reactions.

Honestly, I have aeen lots of live performers from the 80's until now. And there are very few that put one shows like BTS. They are right there with the likes of MJ, Prince and Janet Jackson in terms of full on performances. BTS do it longer. No opening act. Just 2+ hours of BTS with setlists of 23-25 songs. They are AMAZING live.
