Keith Carlock gives a great tutorial on the Texas Shuffle in just one minute. Keith has played with Steely Dan, Toto, James Taylor, John Mayer and is one of the most iconic drummers on the planet.
It is worth stating, please don't take this one minute video as the definitive lesson on the Texas Shuffle. This video could be an hour long in order to understand the coordiantion, cultural significance, how it feels at different tempos, different drummer's varying interpretations when playing this and much more. I played this variation of the Texas Blues shuffle for an artist named Lightenin Rod Wilson's song, "Homebound Blues". I didnt realize it was a Texas Shuffle. 😂 Glad to get some better understanding. 🎉
