teammates wanting to play hero ball and not play through Reed. fair to say everyone fighting for their spot. Reed still showed maturity. I see it this way, its not always about the win but about how a player managers his emotions when things aren't going so well. We saw Reed dapping up guys when they're shots weren't falling. Reed showed maturity despite the loss.

    • @jihadmuhammad9491
      @jihadmuhammad9491 Місяць тому

The maturity we want to see is drawing fouls when the team is struggling to score. We can careless about coddling your teammates. They only managed two fields in an entire quarter against guys that mostly won't make an NBA roster but somehow he's supposed to challenge our role players for minutes. If he's as good as people say, there's no way we only score 9 points in the fourth with a couple if made field goals.

I totally agree with you. I liked how he tried to motivate cam after not hitting his shots. He showed signs of a leader and a good teammate despite the tough game and loss. People nowadays are so inpatient and judge players from game to game basis and expect everyone to grow into a superstar over one summer or offseason.

@AERrJORDAN We're praising guys for giving someone a pat on the back? Players tell teammates to keep shooting when their off all the time. Someone giving a teammate a high 5 as he's bringing the ball up is not impressive. Be a leader and find a way to score or find away to generate an easy bucket.

Yeah the Pistons game plan was pretty much to stop Reed he was really the only one that can run the offense without him the offense was god awful.
Thats what Reed going to have to work on he needs to deal with guys that are going to be physical with him. Thats why him learning under Fred is a good thing because Fred has delt with bigger guys pressing up and being physical.
But I think Reed weakness will be negated because we have other playmakers and long and lengthy players that can help him out on both ends.
It it is what is Reed will get better. I think Reed and Cam will get shut down now for the both of them it’s time to get ready for training camp good epsiode Jackson

Reed was awful at running to offense too. He could not get pass the initial defender, he was not aggressive, could not get to the free throw line, and did not attack favorable match up when he had slower defenders on him. He's not the point guard that breaks down the defense that the Rockets need. We don't need other people to do Reeds job, we need him to do it. Scary thing is he looked bad against guys that probably won't even make an NBA roster.

@jalenjohnson0339 Where the defenders fighting over the screen the first two games or was he just getting open off a pick? Was Reed beating the defense off the dribble to get to the basket? Can Reed draw fouls? The only thing is going to happen when the season starts is teams going to pressure the ball and he's going to give it up. What I seen was a guy that wants to play with space, not aggressive or physical, and don't put pressure on the defense. I wish him luck going up against Amen Thompson, Aaron Holiday, and Fred in practice.

@@jihadmuhammad9491The Pistons were putting multiple defenders on Reed at one time. Reed didn’t have much that he could do. With better teammates, he will handle the defenders much more easily.

@vt8811 I have watched every game and can say that is not accurate. Why do you think on all the other podcasts the says he's not aggressive? You guys are not objective because you're rooting for him so much that you cannot see the obvious. He was shut down in the 4th against one defender and if he cannot get an open shot, he's not doing much else. He is not explosive so his entire game revolves around getting open and when he's not open he's not effective. I'm pretty sure Amen and Aaron Holiday will lock him up in practice.

Good pod Jackson. the Rockets looked tired and a step slow all game. hard to glean anything from this game because the effort wasn't there. I think it's a credit to the Rockets that Washington was unable to distance themselfs till the final moments of the game even as the Rockets sleep walked through the game. AJ did have a better game but still did not impress me or change my mind on what I think of him.

IRS was foul happy because he was tired, slapping at the ball instead of moving his feet. It was obvious.
They can shut Cam down, but I hope they keep playing Sheppard in summer league.... Because teams will key in on him, because teams will hunt him on defense. Gives them a chance to coach him up on things and see how he responds. No need to go crazy with minutes though, no playing the 4th quarter or second half or whatever seems reasonable.

I hope they let him play with our stars. Hes not going to be able to be doubled with that lineup out there. He had both hands tied behind his back with no Cam and little talent beside him. Reed got exposed, now its time for him to be aggressive or sit on the bench. As a top 3 pick and a point guard, its on him to generate offense. Reed either needs to drive to the paint to score or collapse the defense to find open shooters. He wasn't aggressive and he picks up his dribble too much to control the game. I personally think he struggles to get pass defenders so he gives up the ball alot rather than run the offense which makes him a none factor in the 4th. When Reed learns to be more aggressive and dominant on the ball, he'll be fine.

Reed will more than likely be coming off the bench for the Houston Rockets and taking over primary ball-handling responsibilities for the second unit or sharing those responsibilities with Amen.
It takes time for rookie Point Guards to master all of their responsibilities, plus, Fred Van Fleet is our starting PG and will be for at least one more year after this, in my opinion. Reed will learn from Fred over time. That’s the best approach for him to be successful and to prevent negative impacts for the existing starters. This approach will also help him to build chemistry with additional players over time.

I blame Stone! He keep going after non-shooters and guys that are simply too selfish to play.
Nate always been a terrible team player. AJ Griffin is trash, too. Way too selfish. Why do Stone keep going for guys like that?
AJ Griffin is in the same viens of selfishness as Jae'Sean Tate and Amen Thompson. You cant win with guys like that.
Overall thouhg, the team was just off on their shooting, and good defense does that to you.
When an opponent team is getting physical like that, the goal is NOT to resort to hero-ball. Thats the worst thing you wanna do.
You wanna rely on perimter shooting by making sharpe, precise, passing with good timing and cuts, with a PG to make the quick pass.
Thats how you beat a physical, scrappy defensive team. But it was clear we didnt have the right guys to do that. AJ and Nate are terrible team players. Terrible! Thats why no one want them in the NBA.
Last thing.....Cam Whitmore will always be my boi. But damn man, his body language when his game is going south, is awful. He kinda gives up and mope around mad about sht. He gotta control that. It doesnt look good at all, and it affect his play.
Im probably the biggest Cam Whitmore fanboy in the Rockets fanbase so, Im not gonna lie about this.
Cam, when you shots not falling, and nothing going ur way, stay calm, bro! Get off offense and focus the mind on defense: steals, blks and 1 on 1s.
You do that, it sometimes have a way to snap you out of your funk. The worst thing you wanna do is get mad and give up. I saw you miss a shot and was so mad, you didnt even run back on defense. Thats a terrible look, Cam. End that! Never do that, bro.
