That was a beautiful talk! It makes clear that reality can not be thought of or spoken about without accepting contradictions. I am reminded of an incident during my let’s call it hot phase of self inquiry. That where weeks when I went to bed with the question „who am I“, I dreamed about it and I woke up with it! Spangly enough this period took place after the happening of what might be called awakening. Consciousness recognizing its own reality as that which is present behind feeling and thinking. The incident was that during a ride in my car words came out of my mouth saying, „you cannot understand me!“ And these words came with a clarity that was a total relief from the belief in the ability of the thinking mind to be able to understand its own still, empty and silent nature. In other words thinking cannot understand that which knows thinking. You seem to know that Rick and I was happy to hear you speak on the encompassing of contradiction since our existence as humans is nothing but a contradiction. Being an individual and at the very core simultaneously being formless. I tend to think of „me“ as a kind of continuum from formlessness to matter, from consciousness to individual person. Loved you talk Rick and it gave rise to these words. All the best to you and all!

But I think Rick's point, which I agree with, is that the feeling that one is awareness itself cannot be imposed on someone, which is common practice in spiritual circles. Getting told you don't exist doesn't alleviate your very real pain - even if that pain isn't real at all. We need to respect the relative in order to deal with it sufficiently and then naturally graduate to the absolute (gradual path). That being said, the direct path has never really clicked for me, and perhaps I'm just missing out on something - there obviously would be just reason people like Rupert Spira swear by it.
It’s not a good wrap when people began leaving at the start of the Q and A session, but the talk never reached any point to hang your hat on because Rick just juggles a lot of quotes from numerous source s of eastern and ancient perspectives without really condensing it down to anything that explains how to sort through all the paradoxical stuff he talks about. He seemed eager to get to the ending.
Rick Archer don't know anything about NON-DUALITY. He did not once point out that we are the nondual reality all the time. We can not comprehend or understand what we are intellectually, because we cannot objectify..the truth we are.
So true. The paradoxes are not really paradoxes, they are only different perspectives. The advaita extremists, who cling on absolute, still fear uncomfortable emotion, and have found a way (for some time) to hide in the absolute. Been there for two years myself.

The problem is your definition of the concept of "Will" thus Free Will... The arguments about not having free will doesn't mean you are not doing it per se, it means what ever one does is the only thing that meant to happen... the same that the universe is progressing.. even when I'm writing this is meant to happen...
Consider Freewill in the DVD. You wish to experience a movie. You get it on disc. You hold it in your hands, flip it over and can clearly see the silvery rainbow of bits that your home theater will convert into a rich experience of sight and sound. The unfolding of this movie is a fully determined experience. You saw it right there on the disc before you played it. But there were directors and actors, along with editors, etc, who experience the DVD at a completely different level. They watch a scene unfold, and they think to decisions they made and all of the different choices they could have made in order for that DVD to have a distinctly different experience. This is an illustration of the seemingly paradoxical view of Compatibilism. Where on one level, things are strictly Deterministic. Yet simultaneously, on a different level, things are fully enriched with the extra dimensions of Freewill. The DVD is both Free, and Determined. That bottom side of the disc is one extremely long spiral of binary code. This string of bits is equivalent to a single number. Albeit, a very large number. You can process this number by taking a step called 'normalization'. That is simply dividing this huge number by itself. The normalized output is... 1. Unity. The entire rich experience of this whole movie is transformed to a Non-Duality experience of oneness. Yet its essence is unchanged. So the DVD teaches us that Freewill & Non-Duality are fully compatible. Enabling Freewill simply requires a geometry of higher dimensions. So instead of a static DVD, it is more like programming a video game. More complex, but still reducible. And this understanding goes far beyond this example. There is a worldview known as Ontological Mathematics. This says that all of existence is math. Quite like the code in the DVD which unfolds as our experience of the movie, our experience of life itself is all mathematical code. This too can be reduced to a single number, albeit a much much larger number than the single number that was the movie, or the video game. And this too can be normalized. Divide this one number representing all of existence by itself and what we get is... 1. This can be seen as the ultimate meaning of Science And Non Duality. All of existence is reducible to these fine grains of SAND. And the whole thing taken together is Unity.

I find Rick to have great humility with always a unique and interesting perspective.
