Once in the cars life it has been a regular wheelbase W126 as you can see that the chrome trim on the side still have the cut for a door. And the wheels are AMG Aeros by the way. The body kit is AMG too. I have a huge interest in Mercedes-Benzes.

Those were popular here in the States in the late 80s. That is a W126 Mercedes S-Class with the AMG kit. The back half cut out, and everything from the B-pillar back gutted and made into a ute. Love to have it.

I like it. It takes something different to spark an interest in things you previously would walk past. I haven't found an expression or saying that I can relate to. Thanks Dan.

No doubt one of the 80s tuning-classics is the AMG version of the W126 model Mercedes-Benz S-class. Not only did AMG make the W126 S-class seriously quick with both ENGINE, exhaust and suspension modifications, the looks of the SE and SEL were also enhanced by the German tuner. This article has it's focus on just the exterior modifications done by AMG.
AMG developed several bodykits for the W126, starting with the first generation model 280SE / 500SEL that was made until 1985. The bodykits that were made for the first generation W126 S-class differed quite strongly from those for the post-1985 S-classes. Also, there were US-versions of both first and second generation models and the second generation model also had a version meant for the Japanese

The moment you said "hearse" it reminded me of a friend years ago that had a 1963 Cadillac flower car. It was basically a Caddy station wagon. He put rims and tires on it and painted flames on the front. We would go cruising in it and girls just would NOT want to go for a ride! lol I wonder if he still has it...

Hi Daniel , the Benz is an ex hearse, and the remaining part of the boot lid will fold down like a normal ute tail gate. There is a few variations of these in NZ that have had the body box removed , rear doors welded up and a wooden floor fitted in the bed of the tray.
If you want to see some of the cool classics that go through auction in Japan have a look at my Facebook page "Specialty Vehicles Japan" I posted in the comments on one of your other posts that I have actually seen your Unicorn Valiant in Japan, was at auction back around 2002 ish.

@@wasabicars It as a greenly colour Charger listed on the auction sheet as a Mitsubishi. I clearly remember the car as my first car was a Pacer and had various Valiants after that and I spotted the twin headlight front first and knew what it was. But sadly the car was stuffed, rusted way beyond repair. I have seen 2 Rod Pacers, one was a black one in the same state of repair and the other one was a mint white one which is now in a Car Museum in Nelson NZ.

This is insane, wow, what a find. Yeap W126, you may be right with the hearse idea. Or just some mad Japanese bodyshop! Either way, its sick, I love this. Up there with Stuart Appleby's BMW M5 ute. I have seen a few Commodore utes getting around Tokyo (there is a shop in Nagoya who was brining them in for a while.) Would love one, showed the wife one at auction and she certainly didnt see the point in a V8, 2 seater ute for our Tokyo life......wonder why!? haha

Nice find in the car park. This is really something special and I think your guess is right: hearse would be right. Don't know about the AMG treatment though: the wheels are indeed the AMG type, but the remainder of the car is too clean. It looks more like a Zender W126 or ABC Exclusive W126 to me. Perhaps a mix-and-match with ex-VIP cars?

Looks like someone just took a regular W126 S-class and cut a part of the roof off. The AMG style bodykit and wheels are fake and there a few things missing to make it look like a real AMG model, and I don't just mean a part of the roof but also grill, lights etc. But I'm happy to see that, because hacking up an original AMG car would be waste.

Basically most people in IT suffer from it: everything has to be created in-house because existing things suck. For instance company-X is a special snowflake and Wordpress or Drupal won't do for their corporate website while the only thing extra they needed were two wordpress plugins to allow embedding of external rss-feeds.
