  • Lazise is an Italian town of about 7000 inhabitants in the province of Verona in Veneto, located along the eastern shore of Lake Garda. This geographical location gives it a position of great landscape value, but there are also elements of great architectural value and of considerable historical importance.
In addition to these peculiarities, Lazise can count on the presence of a thermal spring in Colà, of amusement parks (Canevaworld and Gardaland, the latter located partly on the territory of Castelnuovo del Garda, where it is based, and partly on the territory of Lazise) and an extensive hilly agricultural landscape.
The territory of Lazise develops completely inside the great morainic amphitheater of Garda: it rises on soils made up of sediments deposited in glacial and fluvio-glacial environments during the Quaternary, deposits mainly attributed to the Riss and Würm glaciations and later softened by the processes of denudation and washout of the slopes. These last processes have caused the formation of an undulating morphology that gently slopes towards the lake.
Lake Garda, and therefore Lazise, is part of that large climatic zone that includes the Po Valley and the first Alpine valleys and which denotes a temperate-continental climate, but which locally manifests conditions mitigated by the mass of water: this climate it can be defined as sub-Mediterranean. Spring and autumn are the rainiest seasons, while summer is of the Mediterranean type, therefore dry but interrupted by intense thunderstorms, especially in August. In winter, temperatures are less rigid than in the surrounding areas and rainfall is rather scarce, while the mists only manage to invade the lower lake on a few occasions.
Over the centuries, famous people visited the lake, including Catullus, Goethe and Gustav Klimt, but the mass tourism phenomenon in Lazise began after World War II, when the inhabitants of the Alps, especially Germans, began to descend towards the south in search of a destination geographically close to tourism and economic. The geographical proximity and the power of the German mark over the lira were some of the causes that guaranteed the economic success of the town. The inhabitants of Lazise, up to that time devoted to fishing and agriculture, began to invest in tourism, building accommodation facilities, such as hotels and campsites. Thus the municipality of Lazise, with three and a half million visitors in 2017, is the country with the largest tourist influx of the Garda Riviera and one of the largest in Italy.
Lazise annually records about 3.5 million official presences, figures that place it in twelfth place overall in Italy among tourist destinations, and in first place as an Italian lake destination.
    Enjoy the walk!
