  • At last! I'm making Airfryer Lasagna and it gave me the chance to compare it against the Asda Just Essentials lasagna which cost £2.20. I also had to pre cook lasagna sheets which saved a fair amount compared to buying fresh lasagna sheets.

    i do love a lasagne kerry and this looks delicious how clever you are using whatever you have in the store cupboard . i dont think i would have thought of that.kerry the sheets of pesta can be put in a baking tray and boiling water poured over them and left for a while they will be soft enough to use , and this will save you all the time spent boiling them . yes a great vid again

    To cover the ridges, you could put a layer of part cooked pasta on the bottom first.

    If you layer everything up and let it sit for a couple of hours in the fridge before cooking, the lasagna sheets will soften nicely, so need for pre cooking

    Could I just say , you are a delight! There are so many people like you making a wonderful path onto the internet and helping me and so many others cook reasonably priced but so yummy and versatile meals for their families. Thank you so much. I need to know these things you are finding like how much to pre cook the pasta sheets etc and you are helping me out with that. I LOVE watching food being prepared with love for real loved ones. That’s what it’s all about, eh? Many fond thoughts from NZ. Px 0:15

    I precooked my pasta when making air fryer lasagne but I have seen videos where they have used dry sheets straight from the pack and they have cooked just fine, one recipe was cooked for 30 mins and one was cooked for just 20 mins. I am going to try this as pre cooking was a pain and fresh pasta is more expensive. Also, I bought 4 of the 1 litre glass dishes from Ikea that fit the dual drawer ninja (I have the same one as you) and I got the lids too and was able to freeze, defrost and cook the extra lasagnes that I made as my husband doesn’t like pasta. I know it’s an expense that you may not be able to afford but if you can, they are great as they can go in the oven, microwave, freezer and air fryer and the lids give a good air tight seal for fridge or freezer storage for many things and so are very versatile, better than the silicone baskets. ❤

    Mmm, I'm a Lasagne loving fool 🤣. If you really want the sheets to soften, just leave them to soak in a hot water bath for 30 mins or so, they will be fine.Make one with the Lansagne white and Red sauce from Lidl, Get a ball of fresh Motty, 500 grams of lean mince, some cheap pork sausages, and go from there. As far as I'm cocerned, Lasagne should have four layers

    Looked really tasty 😋 Love how you get creative. I stopped using jars for pasta dishes some time ago. I didn't like the amount of sugar etc that was in them. I do use passatta though or tinned toms. You need to do a recipe book, it would be brilliant. Already looking forward to your next video. Byee 👋 Jen 💕😘xx

    • @budgetcookinguk
      @budgetcookinguk  Рік тому

      Aww thank you Jen 🥰🥰🥰 I sometimes make my own passata, 3/4 red onions fried until soft in butter, add garlic/herbs then 4/5 tins of tomatoes, cook for 30 mins+ then whizz til smooth. Sometimes I up the quantity further so I can batch and freeze in multiple containers. Stopped this when the decent tins toms got too expensive, it's my step mums fav recipe and she says try and get the better quality Tom's as much as a budget will allow, even the budget tins have doubled in price.

    Hi Kerry, it looked delicious and just using what you've got in your cupboards. I had a thought when you were going to weigh half the lasagne, you could have weighed the container first when it was empty, then put the full container on the scales, take away the container weight then halved the weight and you could have just taken a small piece out to taste

    • @budgetcookinguk
      @budgetcookinguk  Рік тому

      Oh thank you Sandra🥰and why didn't I think of that! That's a lot less messy lol, I weigh ingredients all the time for the channel (to work out cost) and I've actually done that if I've forgotten to set it at zero once the container is on the scales and I've put ingredients in🥴😄 what a wally lol🥰🥰

    Have you ever being in Lidl when it opens at 08:00 to see if there is any cheap meats available, I do it all the time, that makes to food I cook cheaper. Especially when the store opens after the new year. You get loads of meat reduced by 60% plus or as little as £2 for a kilo of chicken breasts and mince at 90p for 400g it just depends what hasn't sold and has that days date on the use by date.
