In June 2016, legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore made his much-anticipated return to rock music as Ritchie Blackmore s Rainbow played three concerts in Europe, two in Germany and one in England. Recordings from the two German shows at Loreley and Bietigheim make up this live album Memories In Rock. The setlist, combining classic tracks from both Deep Purple and Rainbow, was exactly what the fans had wished for. The band played superbly and Ritchie Blackmore proved that he remains one of the finest guitarists of all time.

@Walter you don't get how this works, if he keeps playing is because people wanna watch him play and he wants to do it, both parties win. The rest of the band is great, but people go see Ritchie. If you don't like it, don't watch it. It's not like him playing is keeping the young generation from taking the spotlight. There's room for everyone in this era.

I was there. Ritchie actually spoke several sentences into the microphone. Unfortunately, it had rained heavily before the concert, and continued to rain during it, and the logistics were bad with cars parked on a muddy field. But I was there. And I was there when Waters performed The Wall at the Wall.
Ritchie is a MASTER... But Highway Star was made ONLY for Ian Gillan... Sorry...

Ritchie Blackmore is a fucking living legend, a rock god amongst fallen angels pretending to rock. Let's face it he's in his 70's now but, he's still got it, he may be waning and fraying around the edges just a little now, but he's earn't his stripes. A guitarist in a league all on his own with his own sound, tone, phrasing and a unique sense of melody. There's something magical about Blackmore's hands, he's one of a kind. And he's BRITISH!!!

John Norum idolized Ritchie Blackmore, I started playing guitar after watching Norum in 1986 and I also love Ritchie. Both he and John put most guitar players of today to shame.

Blackmore is evil nasty and the best damned guitarist on the planet!! He plays with feel. Hes got a great senseof humor, a perfectionist, and brilliant musician.

@Walter You'll have to explain that one for those of us who don't know then. I thought he was the guy who invented one of the catchiest and most recognized guitar riffs of all-time, and also widely considered to have created one of the best solos of all-time, all in the same album. lol
Don't get me wrong, some people worship the guy when it's not deserved, but he still did some amazing things all throughout the 70's with Deep Purple and Rainbow.

For me his voice sounds like between Coverdale and Dio but I think more like Dio. By the way I think Rithie was the greatest in Deep Purple and Rainbow. I love their music but I am a realist too therefore I have to say their time has gone long time ago. I mean they all have done a big piece of great rock and roll music. Blackmore, Gillan, Dio, Plant, Lord, Glover, Paice, Paige and other great musicans of that times. And I thank to God he gave us them.

Deep Purple is big part of the fabric of my life...to me, is good to see Ritchie playing live, it just never gonna be the same...and, knowing that, we can appreciate it as it is....Blackmore so under appreciated to me...for Deep Purple fans, watch Bonamassa studio version of Lazy...is outstanding...and time goes on...

Love this, love it, love it! Amazing sound of the band and the lead vocal, and Blackmore's tone is still epic, mystical and mysterious. He is in my all-time list of rock guitarists. He has a take on tone that is so recognizable like all the greats; Beck, Gary Moore, Page, Clapton, Gilmour, Peter Green, Rory Gallagher and others.
