You're welcome! For most women, T starts to drop before menopause (during perimenopause), so much of the same info applies. Are you looking for more general perimenopausal information re: other hormones?
I have all the symptoms and I just know I'm low T.. I've suspected it for a few years.. this just confirms what I have suspected. The younger you are? .. nah.. I at 60 years old should be where I feel the best, I have lost all vitality, I swear I'm going to get this fixed!
I’m 4 years post meno, on bhrt E-+ P, still depressed though, lacking libido and passion for life. I’ve tried T cream, gave me headache and hair loss ( gave it to my husband as a face cream 😂). I cannot afford a Dutch test unfortunately, but I’m pretty sure I’m low as I havw all the symptoms despite having an immaculate diet, daily exercise and some body resistance lifting in yoga and using ankle weights. I’ve had some small improvements with herbal ‘passion patch’ for men ( 1/2 of it). Trying dhea topical oil diluted in infused oil of tribulus , fenugreek and wild yam, can only have a low dose.. I’m sensing our endogenous T is more refined than just supplementing it and there may be other unnamed compounds in the whole picture …
Testosterone can be metabolized into other active hormones and metabolites, for sure - the regulation of endogenous vs. supplementary could be the issue here, but it's hard to say
Like I mentioned in the video, "hormonal balance" is much to broad to be solved by a single nutrient or herb. Maca might be helpful under one set of circumstances, or actively push you the wrong direction under different circumstances. I'm advocating that we start discussing more specific issues (like low progesterone, estrogen dominance, low T, etc.). That's what I cover in my NEW Hormone Balance Deep Dive - check it out here: www.drkateld.com/hormone-balance-deep-dive-info-page
Your checklist link doesn't work it's asking for my email and every email I give it it tells me that it's invalid which is not true so I was not able to get a free checklist unfortunately something's wrong with that service

Hi doctor. My DHEA level is 128. My T levels are: 18 (total testosterone) and 1.6 (free T). Am I reading this correctly- my DHEA levels are normal but T levels are low? So DHEA is not to blame here?
Unfortunately, I can't confirm this conclusion for a few reasons: 1) without knowing A LOT more specifics about you and your health, it would be irresponsible for me to provide any specific lab analysis, especially here in the UA-cam comments 😆 I'd hate to further muddy the waters or steer you in the wrong direction! 2) It makes a difference if you're measuring total DHEA vs. DHEA-S which is only one metabolite of DHEA. And these levels do vary by age, as does testosterone. And, again, I can't do that in the comments. That said, if you're looking for guidance for your situation - which it sounds like you are - you're welcome to apply for a 1:1 consultation with me (bit.ly/drkate1on1)! I'm not sure I'm posting under the right video because I've watched a few of yours, sorry for that. Why did you say not to wash plastic in the dish washer? I only have glass containers but they have plastic lids. Does plastic leach even if the temperature is not so high (at 45 celsius degrees)?
Is pg/ml the same as ng/ml?? My total testosterone was 1.45 nmol/L .... so that is 0.41 ng/mL ... or 41.82 ng/dL. I'm confused, it came up as normal on my blood test. The free androgen index was only 0.73, which is near the bottom of normal range, and SHBG elevated at 200 nmol/L. I have symptoms of low testosterone and just started testosterone cream. I didn't want to try and wait for the SHBG to normalize because I'm desperate to improve my symptoms. The SHBG was probably elevated due to a medication I was taking that I have since stopped. or, it could be due to the fact I'm taking levothyroxine and liothyronine.
Even if your total testosterone is in the optimal range, if it's bound up by SHBG it's not able to bind to testosterone receptors - hence, low T symptoms. Adding more T may or may not overcome this binding problem. Definitely worth digging deeper into the source of elevated SHBG.
Could the low testosterone be caused by relationships where their partner puts them down, makes them feel small? I know that a social "victory" elevates testosteron in the victor and lowers it in the loser. Is that what can be going on in women? Besides the pill?
That's an interesting point! I don't know of any research studies about this specific situation, but it wouldn't surprise me if relationship stress could contribute to lower testosterone.
Ummm...if your goal is to grow facial hair, raising testosterone can help but it would have to be a very high dose. Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not.

Is there an alternative to the Dutch test? Is us way out of my budget.
I don't know of an alternative that gets you even close to the level of detail and actionable data as the DUTCH Complete - but it's an investment!
Thank you so much!

My dhea is so low in Dutch test but cortisol is so high😢
That makes sense!

Hi Dr Kate, could you please do a video on lower SHBG after long term use of birth control 😊
Just to clarify - you're asking about how to lower SHBG after birth control use?
What about testosterone after menopause caused by chemo?
You've got options! Given the complicated hormones, I'd start with a DUTCH test. Happy to help you get your hands on one: www.drkateld.com/DUTCH-info

Yes - plastics with BPA shouldn't be exposed to heat.
@@DrKateLyzengaDean Thank you 🙏
I asked my primary doctor for a Dutch test and she looked at me like I was crazy
Yeah...it's a real bummer. I help folks get ahold of DUTCH testing all the time, so let me know if you need options!
I wish you could do the Dutch test based on my lab results, my physician who ran my test didn’t know what I was talking about lol
You can order a DUTCH test for yourself on my website if you'd like! Here's some more info: www.drkateld.com/DUTCH-info

I’ve got a result of 0.46 ng/ml of testosterone, is it normal?
Out of context, I can't say for sure! There are lots of different testosterone levels - total? free? SO much depends on your specific situation.
Could the low testosterone be caused by relationships where their partner puts them down, makes them feel small? I know that a social "victory" elevates testosteron in the victor and lowers it in the loser. Is that what can be going on in women? Besides the pill?
