Having lost my son at the tender age of 3, i can honestly say unequivicably that i feel every bit of pain that eric does. This is an incredible song. Brings me to tears everytime. RIP Corey and Conner ;-(
I'm very sorry about your loss. My boy is 4 now... I try to enjoy as much time as I can with and my daughters. I can't even conceive how parents that have lost a child at that age (or any age) go on with their lives and find a way to continue giving love to those around them. It takes a real man or woman. God bless you and your boy and all your family.
Thank you and bless you, Mr. Clapton, not just for this song and for honoring a life (that meant so much to you) but for showing how meaningful musical expression can be. Rock'n'Roll wouldn't have been in existence if it weren't for slaves expressing themselves about their lives...and it wouldn't be nearly as meaningful if it weren't for people like you, Mr. Clapton, expressing, in so many ways and settings, the soul of it all. Music is about so much more than commerce. It's our lives.
Huge fan...followed Clapton forever. Fans of his music know that after Connor died his music changed pretty dramatically after that. Big focus on family and taking the time to appreciate things in all his music and songs now. Some great music to be sure, my favorite was the album this song eventually appeared on, "Pilgrim".
Why isn't this released on the unplugged album...It's beautiful.... He plays it in "Into the fire" too. Those who want a high quality recording can find it in that album.
I've never heard this song either, and I love the almost Spanish feel to it. Also, this is kind of random, but does anyone else's youtube video just not load all the way?
@Bigrusssthefuss I can see your point but to say he didn't care about his son I feel is a bit harsh. Even though he may have been considered a "mistake" I am sure Eric cared for him very much. I do agree that at one time Eric was in a bad place and in turn became a bad person but I am glad he has changed his ways. But as you say it is an amazing song.
