This was the best tutorial hands down broken down so clearly. intelligible and instructions are very specific and the visuals coincide perfectly so it's easily understandable. Thanks so much
MAM - Most appreciate the video, particularly as it confirms that the MK watch links were using pins instead of tiny screws (which is what I initially thought they were)
Thank you so much for doing this video! I got a new Michael Kors smart watch and I really didn't want to have to go to a jewelry store and pay to have a link removed. This was extremely helpful! I'm going to order the little tool your Dad used and just do it myself. I wish it just came with that tool. Haha!
You forgot to let people know that it is important to tap the pin BACK into the watch until it is flush with the band. If this is not done, the watch band will separate when least expected and the pin may be lost…..meaning you will have to send away for pins.
Thank you for this guide! thanks to you, I was able to adjust my girlfriend's Bday present, her rose gold Michael Kors watch, without having to pay someone to do it. She loves it! You're lucky to live in Vancouver, what a beautiful city.. we visited a year ago and LOVE it!
This worked great, thank you so much! I found that if you have another MK watch that you had links taken out of previously, you can use one of the extra pins as the tool to push the pins that are still in the watch out!
YASSSSS THANK YOU! So glad you put the close up of the pin. I was trying to figure out what was going on but didn't want to break it. A little tip: If you don't have a vice or a similar surface to use like me, doing against some carpet works well (just clean the watch after you're done)
You saved me some $$ this year! I love the Chronograph watches and bought one for my daughter - her wrists are just as tiny as yours, so it looks like at least 4 of the pins/links will need to be removed to fit properly! AMAZING work and thanks also to your dad! LOL! Merry Christmas - 2015!
I just did it with a mechanical pencil and tweezers! Lol. Had no problems thank you so much. Saved me the time to have to take it to MK and have them so it for me. It was so easy!
Really good tutorial. Very clear instructions. I saw another hat was unclear which side to push the pin through, and there was no direction on how to put the watch back together
hello and thank you!!!! my fossil watch has "screws" as well, I'm so glad I found your tutorial, thank your dad as well now I'm confident that I can do this and save money, watch repair shops have already made a fortune from me.
Thanks so much for this. Armed with a hammer and a thick sewing needle, I had removed two MK watch links within 5 minutes. It was much easier than thought! Real time saver 😊
Having just bought a similar watch for my wife for Christmas I found your wee tutorial very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to do it. Regards Pete & "happy" Alison from Belfast ;-)
I've been creative: instead of vice as a background with gap used 2 butter knives with wooden handles. Then I had no special tool, but took the ejection pin from a mobile phone (a tool to open a tray for a SIM card of Samsung). And finally used the smallest chopping board as a hammer :D
I went to a jewelry store before to have my watch bracelet sized . I asked the watch repairer to take 4 links out and he said certain watches such as this one on the video are meant to be worn like a bracelet and it's okay for it to have a little "play" around our wrist. He took 2 links out .You wouldn't want it to be too snug that it leaves deep impressions on the skin..
Thanx a lot dear 😊 you r so pretty. I decided to go to shop to remove the extra links but after watching this video i did this myself and it works perfect
I just bought 3 MK watches on ebay, all brand new with box, with receipt, and tags for the price of less then 1 new MK watch, I saw his watches here on UA-cam and bought 3 silly me, I don't even wear watches. They however are very nice watches.
You know you can easily remove the band from the watch so you don't damage it. There are clips on either side of the watch face so you can easily disconnect it.
Very helpful closeups! Before this video I started pushing two pins the wrong way and they wouldn't go any further, but after the closeups and demonstration I managed to reverse it and do it right, thanks!
hi. today i bought a watch and it happend exactly what happend to u. i thought that it was a screw but it didnt turn. i looked up on youtube but no tutorial was helping me till i found ur turorial and it really worked. u dont know how much i appreciate it. thank u thank u thank u.
Tysm... your video helped me a lot... i wanted to wear my watch on my birthday but it could not get shortened so i checked out in youtube and ur video came up.. and ths helped me a lot... thnk u so much 🙂🙂😁😁😃😃
Good job figuring it out! :D I used to work at MK and we just used a tool size watching kit from online which you can buy from eBay for like $5 and we didnt charge anything when clients needed their watch sized. It's funny how those watch people can charge so much for a watch size change for links when you can do it yourself!
ZiMakeUp Awesome information, thanks for sharing! I did see some of those affordable kits online and they looked easy to use (but since we already had similar enough tools at home I didn't end up ordering one).
Just to add... I have a very similar MK watch (almost identical) in silver. Fading will NOT be an issue... excellent quality. To clean... I suggest a jewelry cleaning cloth... that can be purchased at your local Walmart, Target etc. Hope the two of you find this useful!!!
Thank you very much for this just removed a link by using this video it was very helpful! Now I just need to find me one that shows how to change the battery! ;)
Hey! i know this is an old video but i was wondering if you have had any problem with the watch eg fading of color or crystal falling off. I am interested in buying this watch but read few comments online about fading color and crystal falling off. Thank you
That was very helpful! I found you can pull the pin out from the other side with a screwdriver, instead of using a hammer, once you push it out just enough.
hello I would just like to say thankyou to you for taking the time and effort to make this video . it is all very easy for people to make negative comments and criticise however I for one appreciate your help .it made my daughter a happy bunny on Christmas day and saved me a few pounds thanks again
This was the best tutorial hands down broken down so clearly. intelligible and instructions are very specific and the visuals coincide perfectly so it's easily understandable.
Thanks so much
Thanks a million for you and your dad showing how easy this is to do at home. Now the Michael Kors watch minus 3 links fits perfect!
When you pay $300 for a watch. Pay the extra $15 to not mess it up like I almost did.
LMAO!!!
MAM - Most appreciate the video, particularly as it confirms that the MK watch links were using pins instead of tiny screws (which is what I initially thought they were)

Thanks, Works with any MK watch. Just saved $10 and time.
i just did mine in 10 mnts thanks to this clip, who needs a man when theres UA-cam☺
To be fair "a man" did the actual work to remove the link. :-)
😂😂😂

Great video. I've been paying for years. I followed this to the letter and it worked fabulously. Thanks so much.
This worked great, thank you so much! I found that if you have another MK watch that you had links taken out of previously, you can use one of the extra pins as the tool to push the pins that are still in the watch out!
Neil Harwani omg thank you for this!

Bought this same watch online so had to adjust myself.. This tutorial was spot on. Very helpful. Thank you
Dads always got your back! ❤️
YASSSSS THANK YOU! So glad you put the close up of the pin. I was trying to figure out what was going on but didn't want to break it.

Thank you for sharing. You saved my a trip to the jewler and some money. Many thanks.
Thank you your instructions worked all the way over in Australia
I learnt how to remove a link from a watch in 4 minutes, thanks :)

Thanks so much, this helped me greatly. Just took some links off my watch following your steps, in just about 5mins.
Worked for me, was able to wear my beautiful MK watch on my birthday night and save £25. Thanks, so helpful.

Fixed my watch effortlessly 😊thanks so much
Ended up having to use a hammer and small finishing nail on top of a piece of scrap wood but it worked!
I just did it with a mechanical pencil and tweezers! Lol. Had no problems thank you so much. Saved me the time to have to take it to MK and have them so it for me. It was so easy!

hello and thank you!!!! my fossil watch has "screws" as well, I'm so glad I found your tutorial, thank your dad as well now I'm confident that I can do this and save money, watch repair shops have already made a fortune from me.
Thank you. I would have spent who knows how much time trying to figure it out. Thanks to this I resized my GFs watch in under 10 minutes.
Thanks. Helped me fix Strap on my wife's similar MK watch.
Thanks so much for this. Armed with a hammer and a thick sewing needle, I had removed two MK watch links within 5 minutes. It was much easier than thought! Real time saver 😊
Use a push pin if you don't have that screwdriver! It works perfectly. I just tried it.
Kristie Morris , you are a smart girl
how'd you do it? My pins won't come out... my fingers hurt.
Thank you this Video we very helpful
Thank You you made it plain and simple. I did in 15mins 😊
Having just bought a similar watch for my wife for Christmas I found your wee tutorial very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to do it. Regards Pete & "happy" Alison from Belfast ;-)
Thanks. Just did mine on my own thanks to your video!
Very well explained… even in American English..👍😉
The pins of each end of clasps were easy to remove using a push pin but no tools so had it professionally done. I maybe replace band later.
I spent 20 min trying to get it unscrewed. after I saw your video. took me 2 min to adjust. thanks
I've been creative: instead of vice as a background with gap used 2 butter knives with wooden handles. Then I had no special tool, but took the ejection pin from a mobile phone (a tool to open a tray for a SIM card of Samsung). And finally used the smallest chopping board as a hammer :D
Thanks for the tip! Resized daughters MK watch with no problems!
Thanks so much. Great video. Just changed my daughters watch she received for her 18th birthday.

Perfect and a very well thought out video, as it is ridiculous to spend so much on a watch and then have to pay someone to adjust the band, crazy!

very helpful, I am a bit hesistant cause I do not want to damage the bracelet, so thanks to your video it helped me.
trying to do this on several of my watches and nothing is working. And none of them have the indicative arrow :(
Thanks for the video. I just got this for my wife and am concerned about the rose gold wearing off. Have you noticed this happening to yours? Thanks.
I haven't noticed any rose gold wearing off, but of course my watch is quite new so I haven't had many chances to wear it yet.
Thanks!
Just to add... I have a very similar MK watch (almost identical) in silver. Fading will NOT be an issue... excellent quality. To clean... I suggest a jewelry cleaning cloth... that can be purchased at your local Walmart, Target etc. Hope the two of you find this useful!!!
Thanks for this easy to follow video.

I watched 3 tutorials. This one was so helpful. Tell your dad I said thanks 😂
Excellent video tutorial! You and your dad totally rock :)
That was very helpful! I found you can pull the pin out from the other side with a screwdriver, instead of using a hammer, once you push it out just enough.

I am thinking of buying this watch but I'm bit worried that the crystals are going to fall out. Has this happened to anybody?
Hi Mishi,
I don't wear the watch everyday but it looks very well made and don't believe that I will have any issues with the crystals.
Great job on these instructions...thank you
Loved ur watch! 😻
It looks so easy but i really can't do it :/ it wont come out
Des Maerz left a comment below of a modified way to do it! That may be easier for you.
