That waterfall is a great place to put a Hydro electric Generator! It could power all the houses in that cove. Iko is the best, she still acts like a puppy.
Right?! We have been talking about installing one for ourselves since we moved in! The only thing that has stopped us is that technically.. we’re not sure that’s allowed, since we don’t own that land. Who knows though, maybe we’ll beg for forgiveness one day 😝

Oh my word...Iko was beside herself that you came along with her to her waterfall stomping grounds. She is so stinkin' cute!!! Also, that tape measure was such a practical and sweet gift. I love the aerial drone shots over the lake, which give such a nice perspective to the changing scenery in each season, as well as a glimpse into the waterfront "neighborhood".
Wow, that scenery was amazing. Please take a video of the rhododendron in bloom…I imagine it is breathtaking. Bear sure was having fun showing Mom and Dad her stomping ground! That pontoon/house boat is so cute. I hope the new owners have many wonderful stays in it. I bet Brandon loved his tape measure, that was a thoughtful as well as useful gift! I absolutely will share the rhodo bloom this summer! The mountain laurel bloom is very similar in abundance, but it happens earlier (may or so), so I’ll share that before long as well 💖🌸

After hearing you say that some of the subscribers were no longer subscribed I went and checked and sure enough UA-cam unsubscribed me so I have now re-subscribed. I noticed they did that with a few of my other accounts that I follow I think that is a very underhanded way for
youtube to treat their creators just so they can limit the monetary value of channels and keep the ad money for themselves and I would demand that they immediately reinstate all the subscribers to your channel automatically. Keep up the great content…give Iko a hug for me.💪🏼🥰❤️
It’s very perplexing… quite frustrating. I’ve emailed them a couple times but youtube’s creator “support” is virtually nonexistent. I read their public response to everybody else saying this too - they basically put the blame on the viewers and said if you are unknowingly unsubscribed you probably did it yourself on accident 😑 Again, nonexistent support. Grrr.

it would really cool if you cleared enough of the waterfall for a small trail to show us the bloom in summer.
That land is part of the nantahala national forest so it is not ours to clear or manage unfortunately (federal offense actually 😆). But like I said there is rhodo EVERYWHERE so it will be very easy to share the bloom season with yall, don’t need to go directly back to that one spot by any means 🙌

i would build a boat greenhouse, like the one brandon is remodeling. and keep it docked by your house and then you can take it out to lay in the sun too

@@AngelBluff We can't, unfortunately! If it was its own vessel (like this one) not permanently attached to the house in any way, that's fine because it's not considered part of your home, it's just a boat used to get to and from. But we can't add on to our home via additional dock space, structures, etc if that makes sense

great video's we are in BC doing the same thing, Have you looked into making wood floats with a layer or 2 of fiberglass sealed with marine paint, with a large wood barge floatation foam does 2 vital things, the insulated platform with storage plus it can be unsinkable if enough floatation foam is used. the costs would also be a lot less and be a better product in the end than plastic.

Also, we went hiking this weekend in GA and the "rhodo" were thick there too!
I left the NPS a year or so ago! Transitioned to another job (private sector this time woohoo) working as an outdoor adventure guide. So i’m still in the park most days but in a different capacity! Leading hikes, kayaking tours, etc. It’s definitely less grueling work than what I was doing with park service, but I still get to be outside, plus it’s better pay haha - so i’m enjoying it! 💙💙

Rododendrons are native in Oregon too. But, we have many blossom colors, not just white.
Different blossom colors are most likely indicative of separate species within the rhododendron genus that you have there! 😍 We only have 2 species that are native here, Rosebay (whiteish or pale pink blooms) and Catawba (purpleish blooms), but catawba only
occur at higher elevations. Many folks also plant nonnative japanese species around their homes because that is the ornamental variety usually sold at garden stores. I wonder which species you have native there!

And how cool to see all the rhododendrons! I'm originally from Washington State, where rhodos also grow wild - and whose state flower is the Coast Rhododendron. Washington and Oregon are filled with these west of the Cascades. Hiking in the various hill and mountain areas in spring was always a joy. Even though I have lived half my life on the other side of the world - I made sure to have rhodos set around my yard - so they are always in view - especially when blooming. Total bliss.

No idea who owns that land, but it would be good if you could get a chain saw and machete and make a nice trail up the hill for being able to go year round. When I was a kid, around 1960, our dad took us hiking in the National Park, my younger brother picked a Rhododendron flower, then we came to a sign that said 25 dollar fine for picking flowers.
So what do you do? My dad took a picture of him holding the flower in front of the sign before tossing it.
I love the pontoon enclosure. I always wanted to do a half enclosure on our pontoon, but it never happened but we did camp on it with a tent and porta potty few times. It may be difficult to fix flaws since pontoons flex a bit on rough water.
It’s owned by the U.S. forest service! Definitely not kosher for us to build our own trail as fun as that would be! 💚

Hey, I ran across a video of y'all on the Tiny House Big Journey channel a few nights ago & it was really good, now I have a request. Can Brandon do an in-depth video of your propane water heater? I have an electric instant water heater in my camp cabin & have been thinking of switching for several years. It works pretty good, but the lights kinda blink when it's in use. I never seen the one y'all have & would like more info. Happy belated Valentines

Not to criticize because I'd love to have a tiny house on a lake here in Texas but just how are you OFF the grid? You have internet, TV, electric , water, ........ everything that everyone ON the grid has. It's great to see someone as young as you both are living their dream. Good on you.

The term “off-grid” has been overused and somewhat bastardized mainly by reality television shows to mean that someone is living as a technological hermit, with no luxuries or connection to the outside world haha. In reality the “grid” in reference is simply our electrical grid. Off grid means no dependence on the electrical grid, although some use it more broadly to mean any public utility grid (sewage, water, etc) now. But in any correct usage it certainly doesn’t mean one can’t have TV, internet, lights, luxuries in general, etc. It’s just about where your source for those things comes from (public utilities vs self contained).

Hahaha I can’t say that’s a group I’ve ever cared to much to join!! Well it would be nice not to have to worry about money, but I just think even if we were rich we’d never waste our money on a massive multi million dollar home! maybe just a sailboat so we can be a bit more mobile and do some traveling, since we wouldn’t have to stay in one place to work! 😅⛵️
