- INTERRAIL / EURAIL VS SINGLE TICKETS!
A basic guide to what you need to know before buying your Interrail or Eurail pass.
Is it cheaper to buy single tickets? Where and how can you buy the pass?
What should you think about before traveling Europe by train?
Where should you go?
Im off for a month of traveling Europe by Interrail this summer.
Is there anything you miss in this guide, and like me to make content on during my trip?
Tell me in the comment section down below!
The one time I got an Interrail pass I was disappointed because I didn’t book anything in advance. I often had to change my plans because trains were already fully booked.
Interrail made it sound like I could just go anywhere whenever I wanted but actually most of my time was spend trying to figure out what reservation to make next.
Exactly! They do promote it like that! But there is actually a lot of things you need to know before heading out! Reservations are a must!
I loved my interrail but went from wales to Stockholm, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Prague, Florence, (bought for sienna and Pisa) Naples and Pompeii, Venice, Zagreb, Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna, Milan, Brussels- Antwerp and Bruges. Such an amazing experience
Glad you had an amazing journey! Interrail is really such a nice way of exploring Europe! Nice Route!! Have a great week! Cheers from Stockholm!
Great stuff Frederick ! Your home country is one of the Great rail travel experiences ! .From Malmo to Narvik !! I did it in Winter . Unforgettable..!!
PS. My Top Tip. DON'T travel in
Summer...! If possible.?
Great guide!
Eurostar does have passholder reservations but they are a bit tricky to make
Do you have any recommendations on destinations specifically from September to November, any music festivals or like that.
First of all... Italy, France and Spain are all still pretty hot until November in some places! Thats a recomendation on its own🙂
Also... Most absolutly... Munich during Oktoberfest is more or less as fun as it gets!
As a fan of electronic music, most of the festival-season ends in September with Ibiza´s closing parties, but hey... Did i say Oktoberfest!
Best Regards from Stockholm!
I got an axe to grind with Interrail mobile app ticket: It didn't work my first day. The app functions only online "for security reasons" and you can't print it out for a back-up hard copy (so it can't be used by other people.) So if there is no internet connection, or the server is down, you have no ticket.
Other than that, Interrail is as much a value as a buffet: a few prime cuts, the rest is filler.
For beginners in train travel: - EURAIL/INTERRAIL
For first timers in Europe: -EURAIL/INTERRAIL
Even if it can be more expansive than singles. But to book and search for good single ticket it is very time consuming if you don't have experience.
I did a trip by train: Romania - Austria - Italy - France - Uk - with singles was 200$ cheaper than using a pass. But it is more complicated, and if you don't have the kngowledge you can pay more with singles even for the same trains.
Great Video. I’m going to travel across Europe next year in May.
My destinations are
Paris, Lyon, Basel, Zurich, Florence and Rome. All in the space of 3 weeks. Do you recommend buying an interailling pass or just buy individual train tickets for the destinations. I’ve been told don’t buy the interail pass as it’s a rip basically?
Just wanted to hear your thoughts?
Hi! It always depends on alot of factors, so its really hard to give you a fair answer. I will not say Interrail is a rip though. If thoose 6 destinations are all your stop, then you can buy a pass with 7 travel-days within one month for around 400 Euro. I do have a hard time thinking you could get singles cheaper?! Then its just to start planning.
Within a country its obviously pretty easy and cheap to get around using local tickets, but you want to visit 3 countries... I would probably go for Interrail in your specific case. Hope you got somethingh out of this answer, because its pretty hard to predict not knowing the whole plan 😅 Wish you a great journey!
@@ponyopoolshark My plan schedule are
3 days in every place except Florence and Rome. Plan to do 4 days for those. Train are my transport.
Also where are the best sites to book train tickets and seat reservations in places like Italy France and Switzerland?
@@shakkaphillips2444 Always check trainplanet.com for reservations! They are even recomended by Interrail.eu They will sell you all the reservations you need.
The place where passes might be the most worth it is the UK
DB is the most unreliable operate that exists
Thanks for your input! But coming from Sweden, where traveling by train is always a lottery, i would still say DB is pretty good and reliable. Things have changed for the worse in the entire business and DB is much worse today then 10 years back. But in Germany there is a great deal of options if say you missed your conection. There are rarely never more than an hour until next departure. I obviously had some problems with DB but considering i make somewhat 20 journeys a yaer with them, i would say 1 out of 10 might be a bad experience. Thats a pretty good ratio.
@@ponyopoolshark as a German it is impossible not to laugh in fear when you hear that statement you made😂 DB is a joke of a company to germans. Like literally one of the worst things about germany to germans and one of the biggest jokes here.
Especially if you have to use it regularly/daily.
On the other hand I can completely understand your take on it. Compared to other train networks in Europe it probably isn’t so bad after all. Just we like to compare it to japans train network more than other European countries I think 😂 plus the pricing is crazy compared to other ways of travel here, which is a shame
@@noahcoast try a train in the UK then; it'll make you wish for DB
@@AymanTravelTransport try hungarian trains, 60+% of our trains are late and have no A/C
What does it mean and how much does it cost for a “supplement requirement “
Hi Kathy! Supplement is a fixed cost to travel in to Italy Internationally. Its similar to a seat reservation and cost 10 Euros p.p in 2nd Class and 15 Euros in 1st.
You can only buy the supplement from ÖBB, who operates the international journeys.
Go to oebb.at and type in the journey you want to take. When you find the right conection, choose supplement only.. Hope this answer was to any help😅 Have a great journey, and a huge thanks for the support!
❤️❤️❤️
Thanks 🙂
Really All I want to know is about First class - is it actually worth it.
I really think so! Obviously it varies from company to company, but i always think that the silence that first class coaches have is worth the price in it self! On some companies food is included, on some its really just more space.
I will travel now this summer in 1st class and put up a lot of content on it! so if you can wait for that, i will film and produce so much content on it, aswell as travel in first class on night-trains in private compartments with ensuite wc and shower🙌😃
@@ponyopoolshark yeah I'm looking at doing my first 3 months throughout Europe.
What else does first class include though?
@@cashman5355 It depends on which company you travel with. They all have diffrent things and perks included
How much is extra legroom worth to you?
Poland, Balkans, Romania, Turkey? Why not?
Ive been in Poland on many of my trips. Love it! With balkans, i would personally say Croatia and Slovenia. Romania, not so much in my taste and Turkey is just a bit to far off for me as a Swede!
But hey! Its all about personal preferences😉
❤
Masks outside?
DB reliable 🤣
Well...😅 I mean, everything has two sides... But compared to alot of other European rail companies... Kind of yes...
@@ponyopoolshark When was the last time, you travelled with DB? 😂 Our long distance train are only 60% on schedule (and this means delay of max. 6 minutes. Below 6 minutes means "on time")
We have a giant network and many routes, but the problems are there.
@@pettylein I know! I have morte or less 10 days travel in total this summer in Germany, so i guess we will see😅
I will get back with content on that!
