  • There really is a #1 time to set up your trail cameras! When is it? The best time allows you enough time to pattern Fall buck movements, during the Summer months. During this time you also need to make sure that you guard against getting ants in your cams. The best time is RIGHT NOW to get your trail cams in place to discover valuable buck Intel that has the potential to drastically impact your Fall Deer hunting experience...in a very good way! Are your trail cams ready?
    When should trail cams be set up on YOUR land? Check out my latest web class:
    www.whitetailhabitatsolutions...
    Proper trail cam timing setup can be critical for your deer hunting efforts this Fall, but the weather should determine actually when to hunt your treestands! Make sure that you are following my weather forecast deer hunting predictions when you head to the woods. Check out HuntCast, at:

    I think I like putting cameras out almost as much as I like hunting. I installed a wifi booster at my house that extends my network out about a quarter of a mile so I can use solar powered wifi security cameras on my food plots. I can access the cameras with an app on my phone and I get notifications when they sense movement. I've had them up for a few months and they work great and maintain a full charge.

    Had a camera set up on a Honey locus last year,one month later it was toast. Ant's had gotten into it and made a giant nest for sure. I'm going to set mine out this month and try your Mock Scrap method with the licking branch and hope to get some intell for the up coming season.

    You can tape a piece of thin foam over microphone holes to keep ants out and reduce wind noise. I like the sound option to monitor for trespassing dogs barking, and atvs, farm equipment activity. Been using Coverts for years. Bought two Brownings this year with Ultra HD 1080p at 60 frames per second. Night video is amazingly clear and the higher frame rate reduces motion blur. 2 inch viewer is nice. My Coverts are having some kind of whiteout issue on several of my cameras. Videos start whiteout and many of my still daytime pics are just a white photo. Sound quality was poor on my Maverick model right out of the box, but it takes amazingly crisp/clear daytime video. The Covert Hollywood model takes color night photos, and video daytime only, but whiteout issue is a problem. Bucks here in KY will have beams brow tines and most of their points by the end of June. I run all my cameras year around to monitor wildlife and trespassing issues.

      Placing your cameras 6’-7’ off the ground and aiming them at the trail works well. This also reduces spooking most deer if the cameras have a white flash or red LEDs thatt glow.

    It seems the deer in my area always see the trail camera even if it's a no glow camera and on a wide tree. In cover or what ever it always seems like they find it. I had a Buck come in camera was on other side of tree he seen just the strap and stopped and backed up and circled around it. I watched the buck from the tree. It crazy. Even if its 6' up in a tree. It's crazy how they just know something is different. All the years I hunted there was always 1 deer or more spotted the camera in a tree. I hunt a NJ state park. It gets frustrating hunting there when you have people walking all over on the trails.

      @donaldgsell1663 3 роки тому

      @@travisethridge4062 yes that's for sure. They are very smart. I think they got a very good sense that something is in the area. And they know if something has been moved or cut down that's for sure. Just watching them when I'm hunting how they act. Were I hunt the normal to the deer are looking up 20' I can place a new stand in a tree 20' up put a camera there and one of the deer will spot the camera and others will also look up at the stand. I see them come in at night and see there head looking right up at the treestand. Its crazy.
