    Side note, parenteral nutrition can be administered via a peripheral line, just only for a short period of time and if the osmolarity is low. This is called PPN (peripheral parenteral nutrition) as opposed to TPN (total parenteral nutrition). Sincerely, a Registered Dietitian.

    Thanks for your video! How often should we check blood glucose on TPN? Q4 hours? (For NCLEX purposes.)

      Typically it's 4 times a day until BGL stabilize, and then it can be reduced in frequency if they remain stable, but each facility has different policies! Defer to whatever your text says, though!

    They're telling us now not to aspirate NG tubes before use, just make sure a CXR is done to confirm placement.
