Just so everyone can see an example. This is the kind of person that is most likely one step away from being a serial killer when they confuse compassion with weakness.
You made a fake youtube account to troll the guy rather than using your regular one because you're scared people will see you for what you are. Pretty sure in this case you're the weak one, but apparently you got the attention you seek, well done you.
Weak has nothing to do with it it's called having a heart something you know nothing about I know how he feels I don't know how many fawns I've ran through the haybind it gets to you it never gets any easier I guess farmers are just a different breed of people
"Uncle Fun Guy" says your more of an upstanding man than most! The week will cast judgement on you, but remember they can't walk the same mile that you can. You did right by the bird, as unfortunate as it was, thankfully you were there to freely give the compassion that the bird deserved.
We have a turbomax we pull behind an MX200. Great for prepping cornstalk ground, really busts up the stalks and works that top layer of soil. Pretty expensive though, but I think it's been worth it.
When you first thought it was a hawk, i figured there was something wrong with it to sit there. I feel even more so with it being an owl and being out then. It was an accident, and you showed pure emotion over it.
I feel so bad for you Ethan. You’re a true kind man. I for sure don’t think or wired at all. I got pretty choked up just watching and listening to the video.
Your a compassionate man Ethan. Not your fault that it blended in so well. Hay bind got a few fawns back in my day. I know exactly how you felt. Better days ahead. Take care. Fred.
My kids hunted and i never could. The older i get the more i love wild animals. I grew up with no deer, fox, turkeys, and coyote. Nice to see so many return. I really felt your pain man. Fricking tears.
I feel your pain. I’ve had many similar experiences with wildlife while farming that completely take the wind out of your sails for the day. They can give you your best days watching them or your worst days when something goes wrong like yours today.
Ethan, I feel your pain, I ran a fawn through my haybine some years ago and I had the same reaction, you spoke on your last video of farmers being stewards of the land, this is a prime example of that
That sucks bud... Last fall I took my ATV out to ride the fence rows, check on all the property lines on the fences. About halfway through I came across an owl that looked just like that one there. He was perched on a branch and I rode right up to him and he didn't spook or fly away. It was late in the evening so I stopped shut the four wheeler off and took a couple pictures of him with my phone. He still didn't fly away, so I got off and got a little bit closer and took a couple more pictures. He still didn't fly away, so I walked right up to him to make sure he was OK, put my hand out and he poked my hand a little bit.. from there, I start scratching the back of his head and he turns his head towards me like to let me scratch his head from a better position. Haha I stood there and scratched that little guys head for like 15 minutes. He seemed totally fine on the branch. I actually went back later that evening to make sure he was OK and he was gone. Just a friendly owl guess.. I had never seen anything like it. I've got a bunch of cool pictures from that
There is nothing wrong with caring about the animals on this planet. Although it was unfortunate, it did blend in with the ground very well. I had tears in my eyes and felt your pain. It was very strange for it to be out in the field at that time of day. I thought it was awesome of you to hold it until it passed. Things like this happen from time to time, and it's not anyone's fault. Glad you were able to spread the fertilizer. See you later.
Great plains have ridging issues, at least in our area. We use a McFarland 5114 incite which is 14' and we pull it behind our 4630 Deere. I pull it bout 6 mph and i do it in fall on the corn stubble and it works great.
Sorry about the owl incident. Your reaction is totally understandable. While it was never an owl, I've accidently killed a number of unfortunate animals over the years, mostly mowing tall hay. I've hit fawns, snakes, groundhogs, and turkeys. Once I hit 2 turkeys in the same round in opposite ends of a hayfield. Never a good thing. Once I hit a turkey hen who was sitting on a nest of eggs. The hen was killed and all but 2 of the eggs were broken. I took the 2 remaining eggs immediately to my Uncle's house. He had an incubator and was able to incubate those 2 eggs and 2 wild turkeys hatched and lived. It was the best we could do. Unintentional accidents happen.
That’s a true farmer right there. Compassionate about animals especially the more rare ones. Unfortunately some people wouldn’t care at all. I remember one time I was doing tillage and I hit a big turtle probably 12 inches in diameter and I felt really bad but nothing I could do.
My brother just got a Great Plains turbo till and loves it does a great good at sizing up cotton and corn trash for strip tilling into he found a used one on tractor house
That's true compassion there man. I can't say the amount of times I've been made sick when I was cutting hay and found a rabbit or a fawn that I didn't see in the tall grass. Reduced my self to tears many times because I didn't set out to hurt any animals, and they didn't do anything to deserve being hurt. As big of a pest as they are, I even hate it when it happens with squirrels too. They're funny little creatures to watch sometimes, and I hate to see them hurt.
There’s a big difference between going out to hunt and accidentally taking an animals life just going about your every day routine. It amazing how much worse an accident can affect you.
Thank you so much for the video Ethan, I really understand your pain and there is nothing wrong with the way you feel it just makes you a great person, and I can only feel the deepest respect for you
Probably no consolation, but I suspect the owl was sick and on it's way out anyhow. For it to be out in the field in broad daylight and not flying away at the sound of the tractor, there was definitely something wrong. Still doesn't soothe the hurt. Used to mow a lot of road ways, and one in a while would take out a killdeer nest. Made me feel sick every time. Real men aren't afraid to show their feelings.
That owl was on the ground for a reason well never know. It should have taken off. It's not like the Oliver could sneak up on anything. You are a true stewart of the land and animals. Your the guy borrowing the land for the next generation to use. Thanks for caring sir.
I have a Summers super coulter with no angle and 8 wave blades, and a Landol “vt” disc. Each has there own use on my farm. The Landol is great for second pass on corn stalks, the summers is “ok” on bean residue. The problem I have with no blade angle in minimum till on the summers goes back to the chopper on the combine. I can tell you right where my Deere 9600 ran, versus the much, much better chopper of my Deere 9660 rotor. Half the time I run the supercoulter, I have the harrow pinned up so it doesn’t try and bunch up soy residue.
You are a great man and I would have been very much the same. I used to get off the tractor and move bird nests I found in the fields. You need to think maybe it was sick or something being out like that and you helped it move on in life. God Bless you.
Ethan, the owl unfortunately did match the ground where it would be really hard to spot him. Your reaction is fully understandable. Good luck. Thanks Michael
SORRY for that LOSS...You Did Best-COULD...and a Proper END&BURIAL👍🙏...I Tend to Think something was Wrong with CREATURE because even if was Out...Should have Moved and Took-Off...but Yes...SHIT like That is STRESSING😭...Glad didn't Gett STUCK💪🚜
It speaks volumes of your character and how you handled that it’s not your fault just an accident, but stellar character is admirable. Where I grew up, we used to have a very, very strong pheasant population, and one summer while my father was cutting alfalfa. He accidentally ran over hen He was able to get everything stopped in order to miss the nest on the ground. I remember my parents trying to do everything they could to make sure those eggs would make it, but they didn’t. That’s the life of a farmer they care about animals, even if they’re not raising them, they love nature they don’t wanna harm it they want to preserve it that’s what people need to understand about farmers, but sadly don’t.
Most likely that bird was injured or sick and could not fly. I have seen owls many times sitting on tree limbs, roosting, deep in the woods during the daytime. The one and only time I have ever encounter an owl sitting on the ground during the daytime it had a broken wing and could not fly.
My thoughts exactly. Ethan, I think you’re spot on with that last statement at the end of the video. GOD made farmers to be caretakers of the land. Critters included in that. I appreciate you showing your reaction in that moment. Says a lot about your character.
We have a variety of tillage systems in my area. No till, strip till, vt and conventional. I no till beans and come back in the fall with a landoll vt shallow and plant corn into in the spring. That system usually works great. I agree landoll is not true vt but did not buy for vt purposes. I love all the adjustability on it. I have not done deep tillage in yrs. Its tough hurting our friendly critters. I cant count how many pheasants or deer i hit cutting hay. Take care
The only problem I have with the Landoll and Sunflower tools is that they are advertised as VT tools instead of conservation tools. They are good they just need to change their advertising in my opinion.
Always traumatic when something like that happens Farm Boy. Found an owl a couple years ago at a gate to one field . To late to do anything for it. Something beat me to it.
Your reaction is very understandable. Shows compassion. Running the merger after the mowere every now and again youd find a fawn still alive that went through the discbine with its legs cut clean off. Poor things. I hated it. I hit a fawn with the speed till last year, it bothered me for a while. It sucks but it happens but it dosnt change the fact that it sucks. I dont understand farmers that have zero compassion for wildlife. One farmer around here used to hit kittens in the head with a wrench and toss them in the manure speeader. Id be in prison if i ever witnessed it myself.
Ethan, I think the owl might have already been on the way out. Daylight and on the ground seems a bit odd…JMO. Either way wildlife and especially birds of pray deserve some compassion, and that’s what you gave it. Keep em comin and take care🇺🇸💪🏻🇺🇸
Sorry man, I’m an animal lover too. Ain’t your fault, would have pushed me over the edge too, but he was blended into so good, if you were looking for him I doubt you would have seen him. You’re a good guy, keep going forward.
I thank we all are having the year you are having so far at least I know I have so far and I know how it is to get something by mistake. I’ve gat a fone a year or so back bush hog and gat some baby possum and some baby rabbits this spring mowing hay hope to never get another but it’s gust a part of life it all depends on what he has planned
I would have reacted the same way as you. Like others have said, I have to believe the owl was either sick or injured or it would have flew off or most likely not have been there in the middle of the day.
Well, it's a shitty thing to see an owl bite the dust but I suspect there's more going on than you realize. It's a strange thing to see an owl out in broad daylight in the middle of a field no less & I have a hunch it was there for quite sometime before you noticed it. May have been ill or suffered a crash landing in the wee hours of the morning whilst hunting, or both. My dad nailed one one time with the old 76 Ford coming home from work. When he drove in our laneway it looked as if someone had mounted it perfectly dead center of the grill wings spread out. The circle of life can seem cruel sometimes.
I know what your feeling, Something was not right with that owl. Out in the daylight & didn't get out of the way? I have the same worries with fawns and cutting hay.
It sucks when stuff like that happens sorry it happened to you but you handled it just fine hope it drys out some more you can start planting beans we just started chopping are wheat for the cows good luck in the rest of the planting season
Some large Ka-Boom! to scare off wildlife might help. They live in the same land as us and take their chances. It happens to such a beautiful creature.
I'm Sorry for your luck. As stewards of the land all of mother nature is still part of our eco systems. It always sucks to loose a natural predator to any vermin. Hope you have a better week.
That shows great compassion and love for living things. Totally with you on the tears. Off the subject why don’t you put your grandma’s place into hay?
Hey Ethan,,that sucks. It takes a truly STRONG person to show that kind of emotion publicly. Your right though,,why was it there to start with? And didn't kick up when you got close? Maybe it was already struggling from something else.
Man that sucks, I bet he had something wrong with him though. Thanks for sharing, it’s one of those moments when the 1000 things on your mind take a back seat to the sacredness of life.
There may be a good reason the owl was on the ground. You may have been given the task of ending its misery. You were in that spot for a reason and you didn’t see it for a reason. Fate!
I completely understand the way you feel. As many deer as we have here in Maryland almost every time I cut hay one year I ran a fawn over or threw the haybine. I would sit and ask myself why and get all messed up. I even ran a phasant over one time. It's part of life they tell me but I know it's hard on your mine.
Hey Ethan, nothing wrong with how you feel its called empathy and there just ain't enough of it in this world. These things happen and make us aware that we live with beautiful creatures that we should appreciate. It was an accident we've all had them and it makes you feel pretty raw, it just makes you a better person. Love the videos. S.
That you show us whit The owl! Thats what a Great human been for the wild animal!and it's okay to show that you can cry on videos. That's normal even for US men!! Abort agrifarming i agree to 200% about what you say in the video. So taket good care of you and the familj of yours./ Peter
What do you think of lemkin rubin VT tools or pottinger? The man that farms my gpas has it looks like a pottinger small 3 section that has come in handy it has rolling basket on it they used it on our fields this year then brought soil finisher with brillion packer behind it down on thier 4wd articulated john deere and did field after then planted it in soybeans i feel same way about owls and other animals
Guys hit fawns with hay lowered around here all the time. The worst ones are the ones that survive and you have to put them out of their misery yourself.
I have done the same thing with a fawn. Took off his front legs with the discbine. Had tears flowing when I put it down to save it the misery. People that haven’t had similar happen don’t understand the heartache that comes with that.
It seems in SW Michigan have limited days of sunshine and I'm trying to get 9 acres of soybeans in. My manure spreader broke spreading free composted horse manure last week and now trying to fix another I bought a month ago. Sucks about the owl I know the feeling. Last year I ran over a fawn with my 404 international loader in a friend's hayfield I felt so bad but there was nothing I can do. Sh*t happens.
Sorry for the situation Ethan, watch yourself on the language, it never helps to take the Lord's name in vain, Thanks for all of the hours of enjoyment I've gotten from the channel
Ha ha your weak
Just so everyone can see an example. This is the kind of person that is most likely one step away from being a serial killer when they confuse compassion with weakness.
A strong man feels no need to call another man weak, especially falsely.
You made a fake youtube account to troll the guy rather than using your regular one because you're scared people will see you for what you are. Pretty sure in this case you're the weak one, but apparently you got the attention you seek, well done you.
You have no mercy, no soul! I feel sorry for you on judgement day.
Weak has nothing to do with it it's called having a heart something you know nothing about I know how he feels I don't know how many fawns I've ran through the haybind it gets to you it never gets any easier I guess farmers are just a different breed of people
Nothing weird about having compassion and respect for wildlife. You're good man through and through.
Thanks.
Respect brother, owls are my favorite animal, i respect your compassion for wildlife. That was not weekness, that was humanity. Screw the trolls.
"Uncle Fun Guy" says your more of an upstanding man than most!
The week will cast judgement on you, but remember they can't walk the same mile that you can.
You did right by the bird, as unfortunate as it was, thankfully you were there to freely give the compassion that the bird deserved.
Farmers have more interaction, appreciation, and love for nature than people realize. You have a compassionate heart.
Unfortunately the bigger the operation gets the less they seem to care.
We have a turbomax we pull behind an MX200. Great for prepping cornstalk ground, really busts up the stalks and works that top layer of soil. Pretty expensive though, but I think it's been worth it.

I feel your pain. I’ve had many similar experiences with wildlife while farming that completely take the wind out of your sails for the day. They can give you your best days watching them or your worst days when something goes wrong like yours today.
Can’t escape nature no matter how hard you try.
Ethan, I feel your pain, I ran a fawn through my haybine some years ago and I had the same reaction, you spoke on your last video of farmers being stewards of the land, this is a prime example of that
I appreciate your emotions! I have found the older i get the tougher it gets to hold it together!
That sucks bud... Last fall I took my ATV out to ride the fence rows, check on all the property lines on the fences. About halfway through I came across an owl that looked just like that one there. That owl must of had something wrong to be out in daylight and on ground. Killdears you expect not owls.
I think you may be right. It seems unlikely a healthy owl would be sitting in the middle of the field and not move when your tractor approached.
I’m guessing it was a young owl, we found one in a woods last year while mushroom hunting, he was fine but didn’t move or fly away from us.
It was just a chick. Even baby horned owls are big. I’m thinking it was just hunkered down scared out of its mind.
We have a lot of them where I live. It seems very strange that it would be laying in the field. You are a good person.
Great plains have ridging issues, at least in our area. We use a McFarland 5114 incite which is 14' and we pull it behind our 4630 Deere. I pull it bout 6 mph and i do it in fall on the corn stubble and it works great.

2 springs ago I hit a hen turkey on her nest with the chisel plow in about the same spot. I don’t have good experiences in that field.
Oh my lord my heart sank. Love owls one of my favorite creatures.
That’s a true farmer right there. Compassionate about animals especially the more rare ones. Unfortunately some people wouldn’t care at all. I remember one time I was doing tillage and I hit a big turtle probably 12 inches in diameter and I felt really bad but nothing I could do.
Turtles are hard to since they aren’t even fast enough to get out of the way.
Small farmers rock i work for a large corporation farm and believe me there is a very different attitude towards everything
That’s a sad day. Love your compassion.
Thanks.
Probably no consolation, but I suspect the owl was sick and on it's way out anyhow. Hey brother, it's not a bad thing to be compassionate. I think it is cool you care. Love what your channel don't ever change who you are.
Thanks.
Life is precious and it's obvious you care very much. Thanks
Thanks.
You are one good, kind ,compassionate man🏴🇬🇧
Thanks.
That owl was on the ground for a reason well never know. It should have taken off. It's not like the Oliver could sneak up on anything. You are a true stewart of the land and animals. Your the guy borrowing the land for the next generation to use. Thanks for caring sir.
It was just a baby. Probably hadn’t even learned to fly yet at that point.
That sux bud!! You are a very compassionate man!! Don't let it get you down.....
Thanks.
I totally felt the same way for that beautiful Owl. In most cases animals are better than most people.
That’s about how I feel about them.
You are a great man and I would have been very much the same. I used to get off the tractor and move bird nests I found in the fields. You need to think maybe it was sick or something being out like that and you helped it move on in life. God Bless you.
That’s all I can hope for.
I've damn near totaled my truck trying to miss a squirrel, I know exactly how you feel.
Ethan, the owl unfortunately did match the ground where it would be really hard to spot him. Your reaction is fully understandable. Good luck. Thanks Michael
The only reason I even saw it after I made my turn was it had enough energy to flap its wings.
You have a soft heart Etham.
You handle that with Grace!
Thanks.
It speaks volumes of your character and how you handled that it’s not your fault just an accident, but stellar character is admirable. A good walk helps release some energy and gives you some time to think
For sure.
You are 100 percent right thank you for your hard work in farming
Most likely that bird was injured or sick and could not fly. I have seen owls many times sitting on tree limbs, roosting, deep in the woods during the daytime. The one and only time I have ever encounter an owl sitting on the ground during the daytime it had a broken wing and could not fly.

Hate to see a bird of prey go out like that.
I'd feel the same way as you. Accidents happen but it still sucks ass. Sorry you had to go through that kinda suffering, you deserve better.
Your reaction is very understandable. Shows compassion. Running the merger after the mowere every now and again youd find a fawn still alive that went through the discbine with its legs cut clean off. Poor things. I hated it. There was more going on, the owel was in trouble before the accident. Death had claimed it, it was not your fault. Your a good farmer.
It was just a chick. I don’t think there was anything wrong. I think it just fell out of the nest and was scared unfortunately.
The owl may have been sick based on it not getting out of the way and being out in daylight
It was a chick. They are taught to hunker down like fawns.
Did you have any damage from the tornados storms
Bless you.
God bless you're a good guy
Thanks.
Awe I am so so sorry man. I don't blame you Ethan your right owls are great birds. I will say a prayer for you .
Thanks.
I got to say that owl was the perfect, I mean perfect color to not see it.
Ethan, I think the owl might have already been on the way out. Daylight and on the ground seems a bit odd…JMO. Either way wildlife and especially birds of pray deserve some compassion, and that’s what you gave it. Keep em comin and take care🇺🇸💪🏻🇺🇸

That owl is a juvenile, probably could not fly was the reason it was in the field. Jumped out of nest and couldn't return. Bad deal.
That’s what I think to unfortunately. Just to scared to move.
Gang in man. That got me as well
Sorry to hear about the owl and thank you for burning it
I thank we all are having the year you are having so far at least I know I have so far and I know how it is to get something by mistake. I’ve gat a fone a year or so back bush hog and gat some baby possum and some baby rabbits this spring mowing hay hope to never get another but it’s gust a part of life it all depends on what he has planned
Amen to that
Hopefully you have a better rest of the week
How many acres are you farming
I would have reacted the same way as you. Like others have said, I have to believe the owl was either sick or injured or it would have flew off or most likely not have been there in the middle of the day.

Looks like a young owl
I know what your feeling, Something was not right with that owl. Out in the daylight & didn't get out of the way? I have the same worries with fawns and cutting hay.
So sorry for the owl, when I farmed we had similar things happen and its hard to deal with.
I’m sorry, dude this happened to you and the owl, but he may have been sick or something and didn’t know enough to save himself
It was just a chick so it was probably to scared to move.
It sucks when stuff like that happens sorry it happened to you but you handled it just fine hope it drys out some more you can start planting beans we just started chopping are wheat for the cows good luck in the rest of the planting season

So sorry that happened. I would feel the same way. Nothing you could have done for it.
Thanks.
I'm Sorry for your luck. As stewards of the land all of mother nature is still part of our eco systems. It always sucks to loose a natural predator to any vermin. Hope you have a better week.
Last yr early spring I live in town. Weed eating along a shed Hit small pocket of bunnies felt really bad about it
That would be bad.
Damn that sucks. I agree with you about how people treat animals.
Yep
So sorry Ethan. Stay true to yourself. Admire your compassion!
Thanks.
Don't beat yourself up. As many have mentioned, it most likely already had a health problem. Weather is the same annoying pattern here too.
It was just a chick so I think it was just scared unfortunately.
Dam man I’m sorry. If the year is not tough enough stupid stuff like that has to happen. Hang in there and hopefully the year will get better.
Hopefully
That shows great compassion and love for living things. Totally with you on the tears. Off the subject why don’t you put your grandma’s place into hay?
I"ve smoked a few burrowing owls with header reels. Never a good feeling.
Luckily we don’t have any here. Most of them are horned owls like this one was.
Ur a conscious minded farmer All wildlife is an interval part of us raising food
It happens you did the right thing
Hey Ethan,,that sucks. It takes a truly STRONG person to show that kind of emotion publicly. Your right though,,why was it there to start with? And didn't kick up when you got close? Maybe it was already struggling from something else.
Man that sucks, I bet he had something wrong with him though. Thanks for sharing, it’s one of those moments when the 1000 things on your mind take a back seat to the sacredness of life.
Yep
There may be a good reason the owl was on the ground. You may have been given the task of ending its misery. You were in that spot for a reason and you didn’t see it for a reason. Fate!
Aahhhh that sucks.. and i thought it was a bad when I hit a hawk on the NYS Thruway yesterday.
I'm so very sorry about the owl it hurt me too buddy
Deer in mowers are hard.
That you show us whit The owl! Thats what a Great human been for the wild animal!and it's okay to show that you can cry on videos. That's normal even for US men!!
Abort agrifarming i agree to 200% about what you say in the video.
So taket good care of you and the familj of yours./ Peter
Thanks.
Never seen any around here.
@Oliver66FarmBoy just starting to be popular here in Ohio north central Ohio ashland county high speed disks
ain't nothing wrong with gettin messed up about the owl
I had a baby antelope get killed in the swather condition rolls the driver didn’t see it that was a shity day having to pull that out.
Guys hit fawns with hay lowered around here all the time. The worst ones are the ones that survive and you have to put them out of their misery yourself.
It’s absurd what the prices of equipment is nowadays!
I have done the same thing with a fawn. Took off his front legs with the discbine. Had tears flowing when I put it down to save it the misery. People that haven’t had similar happen don’t understand the heartache that comes with that.
It’s amazing how much something like that affects you.
Totally not your fault. A neighbor ran over a fawn with a disc mower. It was a shocking mess. Nothing he could have done either.
That's a bummer man, rip
I suspect the owl may have been sick. You done all you can do. These type of things suck.
